- Q:so about two days ago i spilt a huge bottle of maple syrup on my carpet. i used some 409 carpet cleaner and i sprayed a lot of febreeze but the entire room still smells like syrup and the area where the syrup spilt has made the carpet really stiff and hard. how do i get the syrup out and make the carpet go back to normal?? i also dont want to use bleach or anything cause then the color change would be noticible
- It sounds like you need to shampoo your carpet. Good luck!
- Q:Is it hard to remove a carpet yourself, or should i hire someone?? Im not really good at that type of thing but just wondering how hard it is. Would i need special equipment or soemthing? and how long would it take me? Thanks
- It's very easy. Start at a corner then pull on the carpet. You may need to remove the underlay after you remove the carpet. It's done the same way. Then remove the staples that they used to hold the under lay done. Remove the wooden strips that go around the out side of the floor that held the carpet down Go for it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. All the tools needed are a ,hammer, and a skew driver to get under the wooden strips and the staples.
- Q:Our carpet is 8 years old (because we moved here 8 years ago), severely stained to such an extent that we're ashamed to look at it, has an interesting but unappealing smell, and is all over disgusting. We live in an apartment complex and have been begging for someone to do something about this carpet, however we've just decided to clean it ourselves. There's this Rug Doctor up for rent for a small fee at our local supermarket, and I was wondering if it would do any good. I want a cleaner carpet and gosh darn it, I hope this Rug Doctor can make it one.Would the Rug Doctor work on such a carpet? I am not exaggerating when I say it is dreadful (and I mean exceptionally dreadful). How has it worked for you?
- As a professional carpet cleaner I must admit I hear many people say the rug doctor does just as good a job as a professional. The people who say this however have never hired a professional. for cleaning purposes power is everything, lets look at the 3 most important numbers in carpet cleaning 1 water pressure 2 vacuum lift and 3 water temperature. the rug doctor runs at about 50 pounds water pressure 3-4 pounds of vacuum lift and the temperature is water you get out of your faucet. (the rug doctor is also designed to be a spotting machine, it was not designed to clean a whole room) A machine you can buy for your personal use runs about 60-70 pounds of water pressure 5-6 pounds of vacuum lift, most are also limited to the temperature you get out of you faucet however many of the better ones do have heaters in them. A proffesional grade portable carpet cleaner runs between 75-120 pounds of water pressure, with 7-10 pounds of vacuum lift and most will have a heater in them that heats the water to about 150 F A truck mount carpet cleaning machine however typically runs at 500 pounds of water pressure, with 15 pounds of vacuum lift and heats the water to almost 200 F. If the truck mount also uses a rotary cleaning machine it will make the equivalent of over 300 passes per minute compared to 10 -15 passes with other types of machines. Also you want to take into consideration experience, as you may have guessed I'm a proffesional carpet cleaner I clean over 1000 houses a year. You may have cleaned you carpets 2-3 times a year like in all things experience counts. For the best results I suggest you call a professional cleaner, preferably one with a truck mount machine and a rotary cleaner As an incentive to get your landlord to pay for the carpet cleaning you can point out a landlord can claim carpet cleaning on his taxes
- Q:I'm buying a New Forest on Thursday and have done some research but just want to see what your opinions are? Lady has a very thick coat on at the moment and for the time being, while I gradually get her back into work I won't clip her. Will she be ok in and out without a rug? What would you do in this situation? If and when I do clip her, what rug do you recommend? Just turn out or stable too and if so what thickness? Thanks in advance.
- Keep her the way she's been kept. With a thick coat she's likely been on her own, which is perfectly good for a nice, woolly native pony. All our ponies are quite happy under what they've grown for themselves. Try to provide run-in shelter or at least a wall, so that if she's out in driving sleet she'll have a bit of protection. It's amazing, though, how much ice and snow will pile up atop the pony, not melting at all, showing the excellent insulating power of a winter coat. Come spring, of course, you'll be covered with loose pony fur as she sheds. It will get in your nose, your mouth, your gloves, your knickers, and your soup. If you decide to clip next fall, then it'll be a whole different situation. But for goodness sake, don't clip now!
- Q:nan
- the problem is what atmosphere you want to create, elegant or fashionable. natural, chic, romantic, if you have decided the style, hi me on baidu. Modern, fresh, charming, dynamic, classical, gorgeous.
- Q:I have a light weight rug on top of a thick wall to wall carpet? I have tried to use padding made for this purpose but it does not work. The rug continues o bunch up and not lay flat. Thanks
- Why dont you get some self adhiesive velcro and stick it to the back of the rug and on the carpet then it wont move.
- Q:I was wondering how shark steam mop performed on carpets. does it remove stains and spots?
- I don't own one, but they appear to be designed for hard flooring such as tile and linoleum. There's only a cloth at the bottom where the steam passes through. I think you'd really be struggling trying to use one on carpet. A better alternative would be a carpet cleaner, Bissell and Hoover are both good brands. Expect to pay $150-300 and up. But for a budget, I love the Little Green Machine by Bissell which is much smaller. Don't try to clean an entire carpeted area with it or you'll be exhausted! But it's great for cleaning upholstery and for picking up spills on carpet, and doesn't take up a lot of storage space. Costs around $100 and you can get it at WalMart and many other retailers. Then if you need to do your whole carpet, you can rent an extractor for around $25 (check with your local supermarket, they probably rent Rug Doctor, etc.). You can get the job done in a day and not have a bulky machine taking up valuable closet space the rest of the year.
- Q:hi!i just got a new carpet about 2 weeks ago.i have to vacuum every single day.little balls of the carpet like shed, and they are everywhere!is there anyway to stop this from happening?and will it stop eventually?thanks.
- Yes it will. In my room, the carpet I'm sitting over right now, used to shed like crazy! It's been about a year and it hasn't shed in several months. Time will fly by and you just need to be patient. If you really love it, it will be worth it.
- Q:When my carpets are cleaned at first, they are perfectly clean and I have a friend who owns a carpet company who doesn't just steam clean the carpets. After a few months, the same stains seem to re-emerge from where they were before as if they were cleaned on the surface but re-surfaced.I have 2 cats where I have cleaned hairballs, and a lot of throwing up, and I think that's what the stains are from. I use the MIracle stuff for cat stains/odors and it seems to work at first, but again they come up especially in the hallway upstairs. The rest of my my carpets are not bad, even after a year. I take good care of them and keep them as clean as possible but these round stains in various places make it look really bad! How can I make them go away permanently. I'm tired of hiring expensive carpet cleaners where they look great for a month or so; then these same spots seem to come back plus additional hairballs which I try to catch as soon as I can.Thanks.
- If you have had your carpets professionally cleaned, and they stay clean for a while only to have the same spots re-appear, this means that the padding under the carpet is hopelessly stained. The padding stain will continue to wick up and stain the carpet until the problem is fixed. The solution? You need to have the carpet peeled back, cut the stained padding out, and replace that part with new padding. Any carpet installer should be able to do this. After replacing the stained padding, have the carpet professionally cleaned again, and it will stay clean. Hope this helps. -
- Q:We want to store it under our house, but it can get dusty and being in Australia we deal wih extreme's in temperature, really hot to qutie cool. How do we prevent mould spiders gettting in there?
