- Q:I am making my own rug with a random pattern. One of the strands broke on the canvas and i have a large area i can't work. How do I repair this? Any help or suggestions (other than start over) would be appreciated!
- I used to make my own hooked rugs...just cut a patch of canvas the approx. size of that damaged area and incorporate the patch into the rest of your wool pattern...you could thread some thread first so it will stay in place as you are hooking the rug...Since it's a random pattern it will not be noticed (only from underneath) Right?

- Yes, the rug doctor works great! Some think stains reappear quickly but some stains may need extra elbow greace depending on what it is and how long it's been left on the carpet. Some think the carpet gets dirty again quicker, but that's because your not used to seeing clean carpet - it's been so long since they were clean. Bottom line, the rug doctor works great, and some stains just can't be removed. If you have stains get the rug doctor pre treat solutions for your need and follow the directions. You'll be glad you saved the money by doing it this way.

- I have always had hard wood floors, so I use area rugs and rug runners under foot. I have found that the best rugs are wool rugs. My all time favorite rugs are hand hooked rugs. They are very durable.

- Q:without steam cleaning the carpet how do I remove dried on stains from rugs carpets?
- I agree that a steam cleaning is the best bet, but you may also be able to blot some stains. Use a Oxi-Clean to soak the area, then immediately blot. Do it again and blot again. Do it one last time and leave a pile of folded rags or a towel on the spot then put something waterproof and heavy on the towel overnight. The rags/towel will soak up the water and hopefully the worst of the stain will be gone. I've also found Spot Shot, available in some grocery stores, to be a great carpet stain remover. Good luck!
- Q:I'm going to redo the flooring in my bedroom, so I was checking options. Traditional carpet is not really in my budget, so I was thinking carpet tiles, I really have no idea about them so all the info will help. But what I want to know the most is the seams, are they noticeable or will they blend in? I'm thinking plush carpet tiles if that makes a difference.
- Ideally, you need a sub-floor for carpet tiles. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.

- After replacing the new carpet, first open the window to make sure the room is ventilated.Open a bottle of baking soda and spread a thin layer over the carpet. Then carefully sweep the baking soda into the carpet fiber with a broom.

- Resolve High Traffic Foam , This stuff works good on many things , like My dad is a mechanic and I have white carpet and he wore his work boots in the house and had grease tracks all over and where he sit down and scrubbed his feet back and forth I just knew the carpet was ruined , but I used the Resolve High Traffic Foam , and It made the carpet the original color it was when we got it , so then I ha to clean the rest of it ..That is how good that it worked for me .This also cleaned stains from where my cat got sick and had bad diaerea Also baking soda works good at removing stains , You mix three parts baking soda with one part water (adjusting for consistency ) you want it tobe a thick paste but be able to spread it over the stain , and then with a brush scrub it and add more if needed , It may take more than once but It does work just not as good as the other stuff above , Once you have removed the stain you need to clean and rinse , just wipe it up with a rag , and rinse and repeat , What baking soda that you did not get up once dried will come up when vacuumed
