- Q: The problem with putting a rug on carpet is that the natural nap in the rug and the nap in the carpet work against each other. Makes bumps like you wouldn't believe (even if no one walks on it). Furniture on top of the rug makes it worse.Does anyone else have this problem and if so have you been able to fix it, or at least minimize the bumps on the rug?
- You need to purchase a pad specifically for rugs on top of carpets. They are sold anywhere rugs are sold which includes Home Depot, Lowes, Bed, Bath Beyond and more. There are also pads for non carpeted floors so be careful to ask for the right pad. The pads come in defined sizes but can be cut to fit even the smallest rugs. They will keep your top rug from bunching and rolling and they are quite cheap.

- Any spray adhesive should work, look in the local craft store. For a more finished appearance, rugs and wall hangings should be bound. You can use either a sew on binding or an iron on. To finish without binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, fold to back of rug , match mesh and baste in place. To finish with binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, then cut the corners diagonally about away from the pile. Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge. Turn so the back is facing you, then fold back and sew the other edge of the binding to the back of the rug Miter corners and stitch down Finishing a wall hanging: Start at upper corner, sew on binding around both sides and bottom of the rug Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge of the top of the rug, turn over so the back is facing you, then sew down making sure you will have enough room to insert a rod or piece of dowel through. Alternatively you can just bind the rug in the normal manner, then to hang, sew on large wooden curtain rings, slide over a wooden rod, add wooden finials to the ends of the rod and hang. As for cleaning, my best advice is take it to a reputable cleaner, tell them what it is made from (type of yarn, etc), and ask if they can clean it with no damage. If you want to try washing it at home, use a good rug upholstery cleaner diluted with water in a bucket, then clean the rug by working a foam with a sponge, then using the foam gently rub into the material. Then dry by gently rubbing with terry cloth (towel). I would test a piece of yarn to make sure it's colorfast, first.

- Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. They have a list of stains to choose from, but in your case I would just look up the solutions that they tell you how to make. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!

- Yes there is a solution~Buy an area rug and cover it! Or if your really brave and have some extra carpet left over, take a utility knife and cut the area of material out that was burned. Use the area of carpet you cut out as your 'template to cut the new piece of rug out. Hot glue the new piece in place. Purchase a good quality glue stick at your local hardware store (not the craft quality glue sticks). Also check with your carpet installer, they will also do the repair by removing the spot and bond it in place.

- Yes, I worked in a carpet store for 8 years and what we told customers is to have it loose laid meaning get a roll that doesn't need seaming and can go right under the molding around the walls if you don't want the carpet tacks to mess up the wood. - rugs are sized in feet and inches, and are measured from the centre of his chest to the point of his rump, this will give you a feet and inches length for the length of the rug. they are usually sized in 3 inches, so 5'9, 6, 6'3, 6'6 etc. from the photos he looks to be about 16 hands - he's gorgeous by the way - and not too long, so he will probably need something between a 6 and a 6'6. it's better to have them slightly too long than too short. my tb is massive, he's 17.1 and really long and stringy and he wears a 7' and sometimes a 7'3 rug depending on the make. it's great because they are the ones that are always on sale because no one ever buys them. :)
