3) What is the difference of Wilton Carpet and Axminster carpet
Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.
- Q: My cat ate some Meow Mix Seafood flavor and got sick all over the white carpet in my appartment. Any ideas on how to get a red stain out of my white carpet... help!! my landlord is coming next week!!!
- I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot almost boiling water (from a kettle) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time, (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than try putting Dawn dishwashing liquid (4 or 5 drops into one cup of water) or carpet spotter. Dampen the spot letting it soak on the stain for about 5 minutes and repeat step one. After this you should rinse the area again with the wet vac and hot water. If this doesn’t work try using orange glo or even 409. The most important thing to do is rinse the stain with a wet vac and hot water from a kettle to remove all the reside, or the spot may come back. Please be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is best). Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. Carpet cleaner for 14 years
- Q: I stained my carpet, and I was always told to use clorox to get rid of it. I did, but now my room smells a little like clorox. Not bad. In fact, I think the smell is going away. How long will it last until the fumes are completely gone?
- how do i get Clorox out?
- Q: I'm looking for an 8x10 area rug and so far have found myself in no-man's land — everything affordable is ugly or boring, and everything I like costs $2,000 or significantly more. Can you recommend a company or designer with attractive rugs of that size for under, say, $1,500?
- If you are looking for nice rugs that are affordable, then go to this online store and click on the panel on the right side for the rugs. It will take you to a rug site and maybe you can find what you are looking for. I hope you find what you are looking for.
- Q: my carpets is full of old stains and i need to get the out . is there any good home remedies that i can try to remove the stains from my carpet .. thanks
- I don't know of any home remedies but the super markets carry several brands of carpet foam and squirt containers that do a pretty good job.
- Q: it is very dusty and old just want to remove the dust and try to being back the colors, considering hanging and vacuuming or blowing it with air, anyone know a better or more appropreiate way please? no stains, just dull and dusty!
- Hang it over the clothes line and do it the old fashioned way with a carpet beater, or get someone else to do it, like the hubbie.
- Q: I can't seem to find a decorative rug within my budget? What makes them so expensive?
- HI, Expensive is a relative term. You need to get more objective here. Being a rug manufacturer in Agra , India ; I feel that my customers (who import the rugs) charge a King;s ransom when they sell a rug made by me to the retailer, but what the retailer charges from the consumer is even more than a Kings ransom. But still, a 100 year old rug going for USD 30,000 will appear cheap to me while a newly made rug of the same size and design going for USD 3000 will appear expensive to me. Yours question asks why are rugs so expensive, the reason behind it is the time, patience , skill and labour that goes behind making each and every one of these timeless beauties. An oriental rug of size 8' x 10' takes upto 4-5 months and 5 weavers to make. Thats a lot of time. A 8x10 rug may have anything between 640K Knots to 1.7 million knots in it depending on its quality. Each knot is tied by hand. IF you take out the price per knot it will be much less than a cent. Each knot takes an average of 7 seconds to tie. Now think, is the price you pay too much when compared to the labour behind the rugs? If you ever happen to come to Agra, call upon me and I will take you to the looms where the rugs are woven. Then you will truly come to appreciate the value of these rugs. Also, in case you want a rug , but the price seems to much, try buying directly from a rug making country like India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey. This way you will be able to cut out the importers retailers margin. You can also order a custom rug based on your size/color/design at no extra cost.
- Q: A bottle of gorilla glue spilt on the carpet (the kind that dries white) I can't get it off without tearing the carpet up...and I live in an apartment. Do I have to rip the carpet out or is there a way of getting it off. If I have to rip the carpet out how do I replace that patch?
- Unfortunately Gorilla Glue is a polymer and bonds with nylon carpet fibers. You'll have to cut out a patch of the carpet and replace it. Good luck finding a piece to match unless you take a piece from a closet. If you do that cut the damaged piece out first and lay ti over the replacement piece and CAREFULLY cut an identical patch. Tape in and glue the patch with carpet tape and adhesive. Make sure the pile and pattern match. Good luck.
- Q: Our family just moved into an apartment with 4 year old carpet (the manager verified the installation date). We plan on moving in 4 years when my husband is done with medical school. Therefore, the carpet would be 8 years old. We would like to pay to replace the carpeting, but the manager is claiming that the carpeting we are looking at isn't quot;commercial gradequot; and that it won't last after we move. The manager also claims that the carpeting that is currently installed could potentially last another 4-8 years. The current rule here is that if you damage the carpet and it must be replaced within the first 7 years, you must pay x/7 of the value. My question is: If we trash our carpet and move out in 4 years, they won't be able to charge us. Why can't I just replace it now with carpeting that I like? Does this sound right? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
- The manager is nixing your carpet plans? I would find out who is the owner is and speak to them...I would bet that the owner would be much more amendable to working with you, and may replace the carpet for you. You said family, so I am assuming you have kids...and I wouldn't want them crawling around on 4 year old carpet that you don't know what it's been through. If the owner isn't willing to work with you either, then I would look for a place where they are a little more reasonable. We live near IU, and both places my fiancee and I have lived at have been very willing to work with us. One place replaced the carpet in the bedroom at our request, and also put in a ceiling fan...and it was the owner. In our new place, they are supposed to charge for screen doors (they are optional), and when my fiancee spoke to the owner, we didn't have to pay. The owners are businessmen/women...and you are their customer, and they want to keep you. They can't make money if an apartment or house is empty. The managers are employees, they have no vested interest. Good luck.
- Q: I know you say quot;six by six foot rugquot; or quot;six sq.foot rugquot; but which of the above is correct?
- Since feet is plural of foot and you have more than one, I would guess that the latter is correct. But who knows for sure the way we use English is screwed up.
- Q: Im moving next week and im expecting my second baby. Im on a budget but I would still like a nice area rug for the living room. Around 60 to 80 dollars?
- OKorder has a very large collection of Area Rugs in the Home Decor section. You will fund rugs to meet all budgets in a range of styles.
