I use a clean and wax product and the floor does not get very clean. What can I use that is safe to clean the floor before I add the wax product?

I'll assume this is a vinyl floor. You didn't say what it was. Those clean and wax products aren't very good. I don't know why anyone thinks you can wax and clean at the same time. What really happens is that dirt gets waxed right onto the floor and stays there until the wax wears off or gets stripped off. It never wears off in parts people don't walk on. It just keeps building up. You can clean the floor with any number of products. Ammonia, white vinegar, you can use all-purpose cleaners like Mr Clean, you can use Pine-Sol, Murphy's Oil Soap, etc etc. I like Dr Bronner's Sal Suds. I haven't used one of those wax and clean things for about 35 years, so I don't know if they say what to clean the floor with first. Just remember that with floor cleaning products, less is more, especially with products that produce suds. Too much will leave a residue on the floor. If you want a really clean floor, vacuum it first, use a mop to get off what the vacuum cleaner didn't, let it dry, and then use a wax.

I want to lay floating floors but my OSB sub floor is uneven. In some spaces it gets close to a inch in difference. I was wanting to know if floor leveling compound will fix this? Also if you could give my a brand or name of a good one.

Floor leveling compound will do the trick. Clean floor well, use the recommended latex primer and do the pore.Check the thickness you can do in a single pore though. Some levelers you can only do certain depths in one pore. You may or may not have to do it in 2 pores. There are some self leveling compounds that you can do in a single pore. I have Brazilian Walnut flooring throughout my downstairs. I have used every wood cleaning product known to man and still have dull floors. The latest thing I did was apply amonia to strip the floor of all of the products I have used and WOW what a mistake! I can now see splatters and scrub marks all over. Can someone please offer any advise??

The floor may be dull from the different products used on it. You may consider hiring a hardwood floor contractor to buff and recoat the floor. This is a very simple process that usually runs $1 per square foot and takes only about 1-2 hours to do. This will remove some surface scratches and bring back the shine for a fraction of the cost of a full sand and refinish. It involves very little mess. Then after you have the floors recoated use Bona hardwood floor cleaner. they even make a spray mop similar to the wet swiffer.

Hello,I was looking forward to painting the garage door over the winter vacation, because it keeps peeling and cracking. However, I was wondering how I should paint the floor this time because the last time i did, the paint peeled very quickly. Also, is the temperature too cold to paint? (i am ok painting in freezing temperatures, however will it kill the paint?)Thanks

Not sure where you live, but, surface temp has to be at least 50 degress in most situations. With concrete floor coatings, prep is the key. An acid solution is imperative to cleaning the floor and it will not harm any existing paint that may be there, it will only attact exposed concrete. A pressure washer is not needed for this application. The floor must dry for about a week. Follow instructions for whatever product that you use. Remember, the acid cleaning has to happen whether you use a latex, oil, epoxy or any other type floor paint. Wait until next summer, perfect months would be april, may, and august, september. good luck.

There are also special home use. More environmentally friendly. Easy to care. Unlike the wood floor so squeamish. Shop can be used for two or three decades. As strong as a tile. Grade better than tiles.

I am installing vinyal floor tiles in the kitchen. I have self stick type tiles. My question is can I use tile adhesive with this type of tile and will it provide better adhesion.
