- Q:I have engineered wood floors, what is the best floor cleaner to use for these types of floors?
- Agreed NO MURPHY'S OIL SOAP...it is the worst thing for your floor. The Bruce product is good, however, I prefer BonaKemi Hardwood Floor Cleaner.
- Q:Can I use Liquid nails (subfloor or HD) to glue down 3/8 thick engineered hardwood flooring? If so what are the disadvantages vs urethane flooring glue? And if not, why? The manufacturer's directions say the floor can be installed over wood sub flooring via nailed, glued or floating (with glued joints). Urethane flooring glue runs $40 per gallon/(40sq ft) at both Lowes and Home depot. Liquid nails would be much cheaper and simple to use. The room is small at only 130sq ft. thanks
- They dont really float it just allows for expansion. Sure, you CAN nail them -if you really want rusty nails in your new floor! Why not follow the manufacturers recommendations?

- Definitely protect the floor. The casters will mar the floor.I like the caster cups with a little patch of carpet on the bottom. This is especially important for an engineered floor, as the wear layer is very thin and often cannot be refinished like a traditional, solid profile floor.

- Engineered flooring can be treated just like regular hardwood flooring.... UP TO A POINT. Engineered flooring is a product made up of a thin veneer of the preferred wood applied to a plywood backing or base. You can do anything to this veneer that you would do to a solid hardwood, BUT you will be limited to how aggressive and how many times you can do it by the thickness of the veneer. You will eventually wear though the veneer and into the substrate. So unless the water damage has delaminated the flooring, slight sanding and buffing will help remove the damage provided you do not go too far
