FAQ

i was just makin sure its ok to take out the air box in your car to make an intake by using the stock piping and just put a filter on it to get more direct air flow. if anyone knows that would be a big help. thanks
It is not just like that. I was about to install something alike and these are my thoughts. I wanted to direct frontally oncoming air into the intake so that the faster I drive the more air pressure would be created - there would be more mass of air entering the intake (something like air scoop, but with funnel and other stuff). However, there are few problems.one of them is water, for example, rain that may be forced through filter and further toward cylinder. Air box is designed so that the air filter is protected of some greater amounts of water reaching it.on the other hand it naturally increases resistance to air flow so the engine loses some additional power to suck air through the box. When it's dry outside air box may be excluded in order to gain some benefits, but when it's wet/raining it should be activated to protect the engine. Also, air inside the engine compartment is warm/hot so it is of less density and less mass of air is entering the intake system and finally the cylinder - decreased power. You need cold air for your engine because it is denser than hot air which is in the upper side of the engine compartment, so you need to install air filter at the bottom of the engine compartment - again, the problem is water because if the filter is positioned low water can reach it much easier. Also you need to convey the air from dislocated filter by some additional pipes which again increase air flow resistance. As you can see you need some engineering before redesigning original intake system.it is not just let's do it job.
What does the variable intake system mean?
Variable intake system is divided into two categories: (1) multi-valve were put into work; (2) variable intake airway system. The purpose is to change the intake vortex intensity, improve the charging efficiency; or in order to form a resonant and intake pulse inertia effect to meet the low speed and high speed conditions can improve the performance needs
for example a cold air intake.
Copper is the top choice among homeowners and Tucson and Phoenix plumbers for about 85 percent of new home construction. But as the price of copper continues to rise, plastic pipes are becoming more popular (Plastic tubing PVC (polyvinyl chloride), ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) PE (polyethylene) and PEX (cross-linked polyethylene.)
QQ speed car need to modify the intake system Mody
At present, there are five kinds of modified parts design, namely "suspension system, engine system, fuel system, ignition device, intake system."
i have a 2004 honda civic and want to get an air intake for it, but most of the ones i have come across are specifically for manual. do they not make one for auto or will the manual fit? also is short ram another option? i have a 2004 honda civic lx automatic tranny. thanks
The short air intake will suck hot engine compartment air. The long air intake will suck water and hydrolock the motor which bends connecting rods. I would just leave the stock air filter in the vehicle. It is already designed with a cold air intake and all you need to do to replace it is unscrew a few screws. An after market air intake will not be needed unless you have different radical cams and larger fuel injectors with a high output fuel pump. To clean an after market filter such as KN it takes 4 hours to clean, dry properly, and oil the filter. You also run the risk of the filter oil getting on the MAF sensor and ruining it. I'd rather save the money for gas and drive those 4 hours, not sit there waiting for a filter to dry. You won't feel any difference in performance!
I am looking into installing a cold air intake once I get my ‘91 Honda Civic CRX Si. I have a few questions about it though:I would like to do the install myself, but I know almost nothing about car mechanics. How hard is it to install? How much would a good Intake cost? what are some respectable brands to look into? And how much does the HP and gas mileage go up after installing an intake on a civic? Thanks for any help you can give.
How hard is it to install? Takes less than five minutes. You just replace your stock cold air intake, with an aftermarket one. Totally pointless. How much would a good Intake cost? A $5 one, and a $200 one will do about the same. Basically nothing. what are some respectable brands to look into? People will swear by KN, AEM, Greddy, etc. But they all do the same thing. And how much does the HP and gas mileage go up after installing an intake on a civic? Approximately zero. At best, you may gain 1-2 horsepower on your top end, but you'll lose 1-2 horsepower from your low end. And since your low end band is where you acceleratethe car WILL be slower. And you'll want to experience the extra power you just got, so you'll drive harder. Which will cause you to lose mpg.
There‘s a KN intake for a 3.5 but doesn‘t work for the 2.5
The only thing a cold air intake adds to a computerized engine is the sound of the intake. Cold Air Intakes (CAI) are terrific in theory, and worked great before cars became computerized. With the advent of fuel injection as standard equipment along with computerized fuel / air control management, cold air intakes are no longer even feasible. The basic problem arises when you start making changes to the air intake, you also cause the computer to attempt to adapt to the new intake system, altered airflow and temperature of incoming air. You'll frequently have problems with your sensors when changing air intakes from stock to the after market intakes, and usually the only positive that results is the sound of the air intake. Performance is very rarely affected in a positive way by using an after market air intake since the computer will attempt to restore the original settings based on the original intake system for which it was programmed.
What are the benefits of adding a cold air intake to your car?
The very first thing you should do is sign up for a motorcycle safety course. The course will teach you all the fundamentals of riding and bike safety. My first bike was (and is) a Honda 750. It is good for a beginner, but take the safety course before you buy the bike. It will save your life.
