Q:Motor runs, windshield wipers try to move, but they just move like an inch and go back down. First only one did it, now both. Just wondering what it takes to fix this, or what kinda place fixes this, and about how much it would cost. Q:Desperately need help! They stopped suddenly in an upright position during a storm. Told it could be motor burnout. Replaced motor and they still are not working. Can‘t drive on a rainy day!: It's usually not the motor but the relay. That's located there where the fuses are, under the hood. The next thing after that would be your multi-switch that you use to turn the wipers on with, it may have gone bad, but I always go for the relay first, as that's the weakest link.

Q:Maybe there are some vehicles that have them, but I can‘t recall seeing any. Q:The rear wiper motor on my vehicle went bad (lucky me!) and I took the route to replace it myself to save on higher costs elsewhere. I have succeeded as far as taking all the inner fasteners off (that attached the motor on the inside) and the nut that holds the wiper arm to the rear windshield. I am having trouble from there. The wiper arm will not remove. Is there something special I have to do to get the wiper arm to budge and come off? What are the rest of the steps, moving forward, so that I can separate the wiper arm from the old motor in order to replace it with a new one? Please help!: There are special tools to remove the wiper arm. Since you don't have one, neither do I. I usually do this: 1. Spray penetrating oil on top of wiper arm where it sit in the motor shaft. 2. Install the nut back on the shaft a couple of threads, leave a space between the nut and wiper arm. 3. Take pair of pliers and place the jaws under the wiper arm and on top of nut and squeeze. Might have to do this at different spot until the arm comes loose. Large pliers will work easier.

Q:I Have a 1990 ford f150. The wipers only work on high, I put in a new switch and it didn‘t change. Then a day later I left home in a rain and they started working like they were supposed to. But about a 1/2 hour they quit working all but high and then they would slow down if the window started to get dry. Most of the time I see people with wiper issues is because they are too lazy to brush off the snow on the windshield. Instead they use the wipers, not realizing that the pile of snow is VERY heavy. So in turn the gears in the gearbox breaks or the motor gets burned out. If lucky just the linkages popped off. Start by turning the wipers on and listen for the motor, if you hear the motor running then you need a new gearbox. The gearbox and motor may come as an assembly. Check a salvage yard.
