Q: I have a 1985 Lincoln Town Car and I can't figure out how to change the windshield wipers. I tried opening the hood and changing them that way but that didn't work. They don't pull straight up and turning them on then off when they are up doesn't work either. They just go back down. Can someone help me?
You should do what I do, pull up in front of Pepboys, or AutoZone, and ask a silly question to make them think you're clueless i.e. Can you show me where the tools are to install windshield wipers or Can you show me where these go on my car? . They'll come out to show you, and usually end up doing it for you.
Q: How much methanol is in a cup of -25F windshield wiper fluid if anybody knows lol. (:?
Most winter or de-icer labeled wiper fluids are mixed to contain at least 37% methanol. So 37% of 8 ounces 2.96 oz. meaning roughly 3 oz. of methanol is in 8 oz. (1 cup) of a typical winter wiper fluid. That said, many winter wiper fluids are only rated to -20F. which means they are either slightly less than 37% methanol OR are only rated to -20F instead of -25F because a 37% mixture of methanol and water has a freezing point of almost exactly -25F (actually about -25.6F). I'm not sure if this matters at all to you regarding this question or not, but if you want a fluid that comfortably resists freezing to at least -25F and you're making it yourself or something, you might want to use 40% methanol just to be safe (at 40%, the freezing point would drop down to about -38F, safely below -25F)
Q: could take out fuse and put in new one and worked on high now it blows every fuse i put in it.tried with everything turned off (radio, heater.etc)even when engine off as soon as i started it blowed the fuse.is it the whole motor needs replaced ???was told there is some kind of relay switch in it but dont know for sure.any ideas?? suppost to start raining tomarrow.
It sounds like the wiper motor to me. it could have shorted out and now it's stuck with the jumper switch on the inside of the motor to ON. Try to unplug the motor wiring harness and then replace the fuse if it has a short it should blow the fuse right away if it does not plug in the wiper motor wiring back in and if it blows the fuse, then it's a faulty motor and needs to be replaced. I never replace them with a used motor cause you never get the same kind of warranty as if you bought one with a good warranty. I have aways said you get what you pay for! Roy Boy Toy
Q: I have a 2005 Jaguar X type 3.0 Automatic Transmission and when I turn my windshield wipers on they function normally but when I turn the switch off they will continue to run for 10-15 seconds then stop at a random position on the windshield. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? Thank You
What is your life worth? Sticking to Planet Earth is worth something, right? Bridgestone Blizzaks are worth the money. I get four extra rims and keep them mounted year round.
Q: Just Curious:Why eyeglasses don't have tiny little windshield wipers?
because it's raining inside.
Q: I turned them on for the first time from a new truck I bought, its was sitting for about 2 months and Im not sure why they won‘t turn off now. Even when its in the off position, they will change speeds for me but only two speeds work, I pulled the fuse out and blew on it for a sec to try and get the dust out then put it back in and it didn‘t do anything, I also wiggled the switch but that didn‘t do anything either, any suggestions to what I can do or what‘s the problem.
The wiper delay module needs to be replaced, they are known for bad solder joints. It's attached directly to the wiper motor and easy to change. A new one will set you back about $50.00. If you are skilled with a soldering gun you may be able to repair the one you have. The joints in question are the ones that connect the circuit board to the wiring harness connector. Good luck.
Q: 1998 GMC K1500Last winter, a block of ice broke loose and slid down from the roof of my truck. It wedged under the driver‘s side wiper arm. Now that arm sits too tall, and the passenger side sits too low. Is there an external adjustment to this? The splines have a keyway, so it ain‘t as simple as just picking up the arms and repositioning them. The shop manual skips this topic entirely. Surfing on Google has yielded generic fixes that don‘t really seem to apply to my truck. So I figured I‘d ask a yankee. You guys deal with this every winter, right? What‘s the quick easy fix? Or am I stuck with pulling the cowling off, and realigning these things from underneath?
If you have a guide pin and there is only one way for the blades to be mounted then there are no adjustments. Either something has bent underneath or if there is an adjustable turnbuckle then maybe it has stripped the threads and moved. You'll have to look at everything to determine where the damage occurred and what is needed to fix it. But if you want a Yankee solution: Cut the arm and weld it back in the position you like. Hope this helps. 'av'a g'day mate. )
Q: where can I find a replace windshield wiper assembly for a 99 isuzu rodeo cheap? I am on a tight budget and kids in the complex I live in snaped my rear windshield wiper off and I do not think a wiper will help I think I need the whole assembly.thank you for your time and help
if the kids snapped off the wiper the assembly should be good unless they stripped the sprocket. it sounds like you need a bayonet /wiper arm look at your local junk / salvage yard first if not then the part store , it shouldn't be very expensiveinspect the sprocket and see if the ''teeth '' are in good condition . good luck
Q: I was pulling up to the redlight.and its was raining. I noticed when I had my foot pressed on the brake peddal I could feel a thump through the pedal, and then I noticed the thump in the peddal happened every time the windshield wipers got to the bottom of its stroke. Turned the wipers off and the thump stopped. What could connect these two to cause this?2001 F350/ 7.3L/ Crew Cab/ swb/ short bed/ 4x4/ automatic/ billet tc w/shift kit/ TS chip (stock, 50, 75, 100, high idle, anti-theft)/ transmission has been beefed up, AFE stage 1, BIG BOOST, New Garret Turbo, Glow Shift gauges (Trans, Pyro, Boost) Toyo Open Country 315-75-16, zoodad mod,4 MBRP straight turbo backPlease no dumb answers like I dont know, go see a mechanic, or anything else other than helping me with this problem.
Sounds more like a Wiper Motor Mount Loose and it is hitting so hard you feel it through the Firewall Vibrations to the Brake Peddle. Check the Wiper Mounts, Linkage Pivot.
Q: My windshield wipers are stuck in the upright position on my 2001 Pontiac Montana and they wont return to the right position. They work fine when I‘m using them, but when I turn them off they return to the upright position. I took out the fuse, and that is not the problem. Any ideas on why they would stay that way and any suggestions as to how to fix it would be great.
Well there is a sensor that tells the motor where to stop and that could be faulty also the wire going to it could be bad , the sensor is on the wiper motor or built into it. What I'd do is go to a U pick auto wreckers pop out another wiper motor for about 10 to 20 bucks,or buy the whole wiper motor and linkage assembly and switch them , or just get the motor and unplug your wiper motor try just plugging in the used motor , run the wiper motor see where it stops , compare it to the wiper motor on the vehicle , you might need to remove the grill and wiper arms to get a close up look and check when it's plugged in and stropped where it's arm stops. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it more then likely is the wiper motors stop position sensor.
