More Applications of Universal Windshield Wiper:

Q: how do you remove the windshield wiper arms on the 1992 chevy 1500?
Lift the wiper off of the windshield, slide the little locking lever at the base of the wiper arm up release the wiper. It should not be touching the glass if the locking lever is in the correct position. It should now pull right off.
Q: My windshield wiper scraped window.
I haven't tried it myself, but a friend of mine used the Permatex windshield repair kit and had great results. I'll include a link below to a site I trust that has it for a good price. Hope this helps! :)
Q: My windshield wipers on my 1996 Honda Accord just stopped working yesterday and I am trying to check the fuse. When I checked the fuse box, there was no designation for the wipers. Is there an actual fuse for the wipers, or its under another component or name?
It could be a loose wire which should run along the front of the engine (closest to the windshield whipper when looking under the hood). Look for any torn up cords, if any have been exposed, use electric tape to seal them up. This is usually the case if all the parts are in order. If it still doesn't work, you may want to take it in as it could be an internal problem too where unless you are an auto mechanic, you may damage your car rather than repair it when you take it a part.Hope this helps!
Q: I had a bad wiper blade on my passenger side. Bought a new one. The correct size. Now when I turn on my wipers they go oncefold back down almost all of the way and look like they are almost hitting eachother and then will not work. Any suggestions? Very confused woman!!!
It would help to know the exact year of this Buick Rendezvous, because the size you may have installed may be incorrect, as I recall their was a recall done for the Rendezvous where the wipers had an issue hitting each other at the bottom at the rest position here's what comes from GM (owner of buick company): Condition Some owners may comment that intermittently the tip of the passenger side windshield wiper blade contacts or touches the driver's wiper blade when they are near the base of the windshield after replacement. This condition may be most noticeable if there is an accumulation of snow built-up below the blades at the base of the windshield. Correction Replace the passenger side wiper blade with a new blade that is approximately 50 mm (2 in) shorter. This new blade has an overall length of approximately 22 in compared to the original blade which is approximately 24 in long on the passenger side. If that doesn't fix the issue its time to go to a mechanic who can adjust the motor mechanism in the wipers in order to allow them to lie flat at the correct time and position. Best of luck
Q: What would cause only one of the windshield wipers to work and the other to work just fine? Is it something I can fix myself or is it a job that requires a mechanic?
i've fixed a wiper that did what you described but i was missing the fasterning nut on it but only had to replace and tighten and it was fine.if yours keeps coming loose buy a spring washer and put it between the nut and shaft body
Q: When it‘s freezing rain, my instincts are to pull up my windshield wipers so they don‘t get stuck to the windshield. Someone told me that this can cause the wires inside the plastic coating to break. Is this okay to do this, or should I leave them against the windshield?
Two options, leave them up or put them down. Pros and Cons to both. If you leave them down, you risk reducing the life of the actual wiper blade itself. If you raise them up however you potentially extend the wiper blade life, but there are other potential issues to consider. The someone who told you about wires was not completely incorrect. Although there are no actual wires, the wiper arm that the blade attaches to has a spring in it. The spring applies tension which holds your wiper to the windshield. When you routinely raise your wiper arm up for extended periods of time you are stretching the spring. Should the spring become used to being stretched it will reduce the tension put on the arm and as a result your wipers ability to clean the windshield is reduced. Consider this: Wiper blade - $6. Wiper Arm Replacement for a Civic for example - $78 for the part alone. I would suggest you keep your blades down. Worst case you just heat up your car for a few minutes to defrost them if they are really stuck. Stretching the springs, although generally fine for short bursts, if left for a full day and if done frequently will more than likely affect the function.
Q: My left windshield wiper is not working. However, the right windshield wiper works still. The left one tries to move but does not go up the whole way. It just inches up and then falls back down. Anyone got any advice.Helplol
Here, ill try without beiing RUDE, lol I see this all the time. You really should try to make sure the blades are not frozen to the glass before turning them on. This is THE reason for this Sometimes you can open the cap on the wiper arm and tighten the nut down In other cases, you have torn up the splines on the tapered output shaft in which the wiper arm bolts to. In many cases the entire arm may need to be replaced. But I have repaired them by using a small piece of metal, in the taper between the wiper arm, and the shaft it bolts down to. Even a small piece of paper clip may work, you'll see what I mean when you take the wiper arm off, if just tightening the nut does not work.
Q: I haven't driven it since I put it in.
you should eliminate the wiper fluid from the resevoir. Unbolt the resevoir and sparkling it out once you should. Then really placed 50/50 premix antifreeze into it. Do you want to chance harming your motor vehicle for this ?
Q: When pressing the button to spray the fluid, the fluid does not spray, and the wipers do not come on. What could cause this? Can‘t even hear the motor try to work. Would this be a fuse? Prior to this problem, had a friend plug a cellphone car charger cord into the cigarette lighter and it blew a fuse. That fuse was replaced, but now we have this problem with the wipers.
Your cigarette lighter shorting may have blown another fuse in your fuse block , or a relay to the wipers may have blown from an overload .Check both the inside fuse panel and the engine compartment master fuse and relay box .I am betting on an accessory fuse or a similar component.
