Q: I recently bought a wiring harness because the 50 yr. old wiring is in bad shape. How hard is this gonna be? I have alot of electrical experience on newer cars, but I know nothing about wiring a generator, coil, and points-type distributor. Anyone ever done this before?
I recently did a 69 bronco with a ron francis kit and was pretty much electriclly challenged. Not sure how much your wanting to keep the original theme going, but you may want to look into going to a one wire alternator setup. Replace the externally regulated unit and maybe a pertronix ignitor to replace the points. Would make the install easier plus at the same time make your ride a little more reliable. Not sure what kit you went with Although the ron francis kit i used had good hardware and a nice panel I wouldn't recommend them due to the fact that there customer service was pitiful. They just dont answer the phone and want to call you back half hour later. My advice would be to get some factory wiring diagrams for when you go to hook up your instruments switches, also keep your old harness intact with a minimal amount of cutting when it comes to removing it. It will come in handy later and if possible take a few photos of key connections for reference if you have to, make some notes on paper what wire went where. and make sure to ground everything i used a central grounding block behind the dash for all my grounds. My install went pretty smooth most of my time went to the turn signal harness and the wiper switch. Just take your time with it what I did is if I caught a snag I just left it alone for a week and would come back to it later.
Q: I decided I wanted subs n my friend has them so I figured I'd let him do it since he had some experience well we took the stereo out and get ended up cutting the stereo wiring harness to the stock stereo there were 18 wires, majority were to the speakers, they ended not needed to b cut at all well I decided to ditch the subs but now what do I do I have no stereo or music would a professional be able to fix it, he tried to but now it sounds like crap I can't even blare it even a little with out it crackling or rattling I jus want it back to normal
All the wires should be different colors so matching the colors should get the wires spliced correctly.
Q: i need to know what other stock radios will fit in my car so i can get 1 from a junk yard so i need another stock deck that has the same wires
Here's the best I can do; Go to AutoZone, or someplace like that, and look at harnesses for installation . Note if any of them show the same cars in their application list. I'm thinking some small Fords- they're related.
Q: I have an 05' Chevy Colorado stock radio but it doesent have a wiring harness How would I hook this up to a battery without a wiring harness
just were a i pod or boom box
Q: I have a 98 Acura. I put in a Sony car stereo in 1999 or 2000 maybe. Have wiring harnesses stayed the same since then? Basically I just want to put in a newer stereo to get current features like AUX in (on front) or SD/USB slots. No amplifier involved Are most of the stereos today set up the same so I just need to pull the old one and swap the wiring harness? Or does it also vary by brand? Thanks
Hello, wire harness, there must be a change of different period, has a different way, other times in rapid development, should be able to change the wire and of course form
Q: I know very little about cars and stereo systems. I just got a car the other day, and it had a Kenwood head unit installed. Only problem is, it doesn't work. Some of the buttons are broken, rendering it useless. I was looking at getting a new head unit (probably JVC) and I was wondering if I would have to go through all of the wiring. Or would it be as simple as unplugging it from the other unit and plugging it into the new one? Details:1999 Ford EscortOld head unit: Kenwood KDC-MP628Possible new unit: JVC KD-S37

Q: I am wanting to buy this d16y8 vtec motor and tranny from this guy for 350 dollars but he said he doesnt have the wiring harness. what is that and will it cost a lot?
If you are outing the engine into a compatible vehicle then it will already have one so you will not need to buy it but I have to ask what are you thinking changing engines if you have to ask a basic question like whats a wiring harness but good luck.
Q: and i also need to know where i can i buy some cheap parts to lower it in the front i have a 68 mustang couple 289 thanks
try local junk yard best way to find a wire harness for cheap
Q: I have 86 chevy half ton pickup needing a harness. will a harness from an 84 half ton work for me as I have one availible to me
Only if it has the same engine/trans combo. I don't remember any major changes happening between 84 and 86, but taking that into account, thoroughly label everything you're removing, and bring the digital camera along to snap pics of the harness with the labels on them as you remove each connector. Better safe than confused as all heck!
Q: I have a 1986 volvo 240 DL with a kenwood indash reciever in it. I want to connect the reciever again. I need to know what color red connects to, What color does black connect to, what color does yellow connects to and thats it. Some one please help me!
red is 12volt constant black is ground yellow is 12 volt trigger are you asking what wires coming from the receiver connect to in the factory wiring harness or vice verse? Go buy a voltmeter. they are $6 at walmart. Test the loose factory wires by setting the voltmeter to 12v dc. touch one of the probes to the frame, or any metal on the car, then with the car off, touch the probe to the loose oem wires. if the voltmeter shows a current with the car off, that is the 12v constant. there ya go, you can just run the black wire from the back of the receiver to any metal ground. the last wire would be your trigger.
