Q: I cut the stock wiring harness under the dash in the middle console, and we are having problems with transmission shifting, and many other electrical problems can they all be related?I know the transmission thing sounds far-fetched, but while messing with the wires, ti can turn on or off the Overdrive dash light. so i didnt know if it could be messing with the shifting of the transmission.
You didn't say what kind of Car, but yes, it is entirely possible.Do you still have the original harness and Factory Radio ? Is there any way that you can put it back together ? The best way to find out would be to get a Haynes Manual for your Car, for about $15, from an Auto Parts Store, and go to the very back of the Book, to the wiring section, and trace it down.If you can do it yourself, you'll save a lot of money, because an Auto Electrical Shop is going to charge a bundle to come behind you on this !
Q: hello. i took out my old radio from my 1995 jeep cherokee. and i cut the wires from the old wiring harness. and now they are to short. and i want to put back in my old radio and still have the little adaptar/harness. . but the wires are two short to connect. how can i take those out safely so i can take the metal ends of them and put them onto the wires in the jeep then snap them back into the harness.
get a wire stretcher from parts store.
Q: I'm getting an '02 Jetta with the 1.8 Turbo. The most common issue I see popping up is the wire harness for the ignition coils has a reputation for becoming damaged from heat/vibration in its location, causing fracturing and poor connection in the wires, which leads to voltage spikes, which leads to fried ignition coils. Short of constantly checking/replacing the wiring harness, what is the best way to prevent these issues from occurring? All I can think of is to get some heat shielding but I also want to tackle the vibration issues. Answers from experience only please! :)
Wiring harness HT lead? Becoming damaged from vibration causing fracturing and poor connection? Sounds to me like it is a CARBON filled Lead. Change it for a copper wire instead. Copper don't fracture or break and has been used on all cars for decades.
Q: I bought a wiring harness and im trying to connect it too my aftermarket stereo wire and my aftermarket stereo wire does not have an orange/white one like the other harness does. I looked and this orange/white wire is the dimmer wire. I was just wondering what that wire did and do i need it hooked up?
if your new stereo does not have a dimmer wire you do not hook that wire to anything.
Q: I need help with the red and yellow wires. Hooked everything up color to color, but my stereo didn't work just when I push eject on the cd player but nothing else. And then I hooked up all of the red, and the yellow wires, and that made it work, but the radio has to be turned on and off manually. It won't work together when I turn off /on the ignition, and acc positions. What am I doing wrong? I would love for some one to give me a detailed description or layout of the wires that should go together I have a 2002 chevy impala with inactive onstar I have the wire harness and the antenna adapter I do have an amp I'm pretty sure it's that silver box next to the speakers in the roof of the trunk. Please help
Which wiring harness did you buy? A simple $20 one that's just a connector with some wires on it? Or the $100 one that comes with an interface box? Because you need the $100 one. Your factory harness does not have a 12V ignition source in it. This is what your radio uses to tell when the car is on/off. So although the $20 one may plug into your factory harness, it's not the correct one for your vehicle. That harness fits like 10 different model GM cars over a 10 year period. Take that harness back and ask for the GMOS-04 interface if you have the Bose system and the GMOS-01 interface if you don't. Your next question is going to be, Well can't I make this one work? Yes. You can. But you'll lose all your door chimes, OnStar (if equipped), and your retained accessory power feature. To make it work, you'll have to run your own ignition wire from elsewhere in the car. I'd go right to the key cylinder. The wire you're looking for should be heavy gauge pink. Remember to put a fuse in line with the wire you'll be running.
Q: I bought a pioneer radio for a van I owned but the engine blew. So I took it out and sold the van. Now I have a new van and don't want to pay $80 bucks to have the radio installed. So I tried to do it myself but the wire harnesses were different. Don't really know where to go from here. If there is an easy way to switch them, please let me know.
its elementary use a hardness that are colour lined to be elementary and grab your aftermarket strereo and hook up each and all of the wires and its extremely elementary i found out a thank you to try this earlier i even knew how topersistent lol. and that i found out while ultimate purchase wished to cost 60 dollars to connect 10 wires mutually
Q: How do you Install trailer wiring harness on Jeep Grand Cherokee 98?
Cheaper in the long run to rent a TRUCK and not ruin the transmission in the Jeep. They were NEVER intended to tow anything heavy. Bruce
Q: hello, i was wondering if the radio wiring harness for the the jeep xj. o jeep cherokee spot. and the jeep grand cherokee are the same. 1995 models.
No. The Grand Cherokee uses a Chrysler-type harness; Metra part number 70-1817. The Cherokee and Wrangler both use the older Jeep/Eagle harness, 70-1002.
Q: Have a 2001 Chevy Blazer Xtreme and the engine wiring harness melted(probably small fire). Need a new one but the dealership charges $1500 for a new one. Trying to find a used one (junkyard, OKorder). Will any other year/model's harness with the same engine specs (rear wheel drive, automatic, 4.3L V6) work or does it have to come out of a 2001 Xtreme???
how to wire 4.3 v6
Q: I already have an aftermarket (Pioneer) car stereo in my Jeep with a vehicle-specific wiring harness. I am getting a new car stereo (Alpine) and need to know if I need to get another wiring harness with the new Alpine stereo, or can I just use my existing one? Thanks all in advance!
you sure do, the Alpine stereo have different wiring harness than pioneer. that's for sure.
