Q: I have a 1995 GMC suburban k1500 5.7L. They make a 7.4L motor for this specific truck as well same make and model suburban just different option. I just don't know if the wire harness is different.
You need the wire harness, the ECU, any external sensors, the exhaust, etc. Are you tired yet? This thing is almost 20 years old, why screw with it? The 454 will give you more torque, good if you are pulling a trailer, but not worth the hassle.
Q: I have a 93 land cruiser and something is wrong with the trailer wiring harness. Only the left side seems to work. When turning on the right turn signal, the left blinks, and the right side will not light up under braking either. The left signal works properly and it will light up under braking. This happens on several trailers ive towed, so its not the trailer wiring, its the harness on the vehicle. I ran a multi meter as well to confirm that its the vehicle wiring thats messed up. I don't believe its the plug its self. Any clues?
Since it is on everything you tow. I would agree the wiring problem is on your land cruiser. unless you only tow boat trailers that have been dipped in the sea and they have corrosion or a bad ground on the right side. if your land cruiser tail lights work correctly than I would say you need to take your meter and verify the right hand light power, if that is not correct. than it is the connection where your pigtail is tied into the factory wires.
Q: I own an Acura Legend '91 and the wire harness on the passenger side was torn apart. I think it damaged the wire towards the turning signal.
I'm not a big fan of patching wires on automobiles. The problem is the weather. Corrosion will just tear into any repair you do, unless you do a really fancy one. Like those barrel crimp connectors - utter and absolute junk. They make a variation on those which have heat-shrink ends on them, but not just heat-shrink, they actually release a gooey liquid which melts into the splice to keep out moisture. They're expensive though, $1 each or so. Last time I bought a factory harness repair kit, it came with those. Another option is to tin and solder the wire ends, and then shrink wrap it and then wrap with electrical tape. But working in close quarters, that is a major pain, great way to burn other wires, burn carpet, burn yourself. Be sure to re-wrap the harness so wires are not flailing around, that will break them.
Q: i need the wires that plug into the back of the cd player and i dont know how to order them.
A specialty car audio shop might just have one in stock.Check there first then try the net .
Q: Basically over about a four month period the radio/cd player in my truck was going on and off. It would work sometimes randomly, but now it is completely dead. I changed all the fuses and that isn't where the issue is. I have the original radio and I don't really want to replace it. I feel like if the fault were in the radio itself, it would have simply gone dead and not worked. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has any advice about what the cause could be? The truck itself is 17 years old, so it's a possibility that over time a wire came loose, or even for the radio to die. It came with a 5 cd changer that is in the cab, and I noticed at the very beginning before it starting cutting on and off that it would say that it couldn't read cd's. That was probably a few days prior, and then when the radio did actually work, the same problem persisted. What do you think the problem is?
You answered your question, you have a 17 year old electronic device, in probably in the worst environment ever. The heat/cold, vibrations, everything included in a vehicle's use, are the enemy of electronics. The good part is, even with an older vehicle, you can still add an aftermarket radio, and still take it with you when you get a new vehicle. Good Luck!!
Q: i recently purchased an aftermarket cd player for my 2004 chevy silverado 1500. when i tried to have it installed, best buy said i need some kind of wiring that was an extra $120. circuit city said the same thing. i was just wondering if that is really neccesarry?i heard that not installing the wiring harness would only affect the door chimes. is this true?
there are 2 harness you can use for some 99' and all 00' up GM. you can use the $20 harness, but you will lose your door chime, and more importantly you cant reset the check engine light if it comes up. the $120 harness fixes that. so to answer your question, no you dont have to, but it will be a prob in the future
Q: I have a 1994 Acura Integra LS manual transmission and the wire harness is bad, my friend has a 1992 Acura Integra LS also with a manual transmission and he has the wire harness for it still. Would it be compatible with my car?
Maybe. The 1992 is second generation while the 1994 is third generation. However, if the connectors are the same there is still a good chance they are compatible. EDIT - you can check out the part numbers for the exact harness in the source. If they are the same part number you are in if not, I doubt the store would stock two different part numbers of the same thing.
Q: Ihave a 2001 dodge ram and I am installing a new front bumper but when I took the bumper off I noticed that underneath the passenger headlight there is a random wiring harness that isn't connected to anything.I was wondering if anyone knew what it is or what it is supposed to be wired to
Is it a diesel? It could be your block heater for the cold months.
Q: I had my head gasket and head resurfaced at a shop. When I picked up my car I drove it a little it seemed o.k. The next day I went over a dip in the road and the car shut off right away . The problem was the wiring harness under the radiator was hanging loose and was damaged when I hit the dip. The plastic coating was scaped off and wires were broken. I know that harness was not hanging before I took it for repair. Is it possible when they were doing the work on the heads and changing water pump they left the harness hanging?
Sure, it is possible. Have you taken it back to the shop that did the repairs? I don't believe they left the harness hanging loose on purpose, so give them a chance to rectify the issue. Good Luck.
Q: All the installation pdf's I've looked at for trailer wiring harnesses for the '02 Sierra refer to a pre-wired plug that is behind the bumper on the driver's side. Well, that plug isn't on mine. Was this plug an option when new?
well i know you have looked but it could be taped up above the bumper on the frame harness and you have to have a pigtail to plug into it. just a suggestion. good luck
