- Q:I have wire harness for an ICM. This is not the original engine in the car (someone put a late 70s model 350 into this 87 Camaro). So, there are two wires going to this ICM, while the port on the ICM is 4 port (so 4 wires on the harness). All wires are white. Does anyone know of a diagram on the web that can help me determine what each of these wires are so I can connect the proper ones, and cap the other two?
- The ICM on the early model would be in the distributor and the 87 model would be by the throttle body, so they would not be compatible at all but the ignition system for the early 350 would self contained and easy to hook up without that harness it just needs a hot wire.
- Q:I have a 2005 mercury montego premiere and just installed a new head unit. Everything worked fine. I have a pioneer head unit that plays DVDs but I didn't wire it to my parking brake when I first put it in. Today I decided to do so got it all out, then had an urgent call and couldn't connect it. As I was putting the radio back in, something sparked and started to smoke, (yellow cords where showing a little bit, might have touched metal) I took it to a car audio shop and tested the head unit, and it worked just fine. Could I have broke(shoted) the harness that connects the colored wires together and the other side connects to my car wiring(they plug in) OR could I have broke something with my car wiring. I checked audio fuses, they are fine. PLEASE HELP I BEG
- The Yellow wire, is the Constant +12V. So, it is possible that you burned up part of the harness or factory amplifier if it grounded. Double check the fuse box under the hood, if you don't have power there. If it doesn't work, try the factory radio, if it works, the amp( if it has one) would be ok, and maybe you might just need a new harness. Double check all of your connections, and make sure they are secure, and completely covered. Good Luck!
- Q:I have 1995 mercury mystique.Awhile back i took my car to a mechanic (A). To get my cooling fan on my car fix. Because, it wasn't working. my car was running hot. mechanic (A) called me said that he had to straight wire it. Me, knowing nothing. It have to meant when my car is running fan will be to all times. Then some people at work told me, he shouldn't straight wire my model car at all. After a week my car was working fine.Then come to find out my transmission was dead. Instead of going to mechanic (A). I tried mechanic (B) to put in old transmission. $1500 for that. A week later, i notice that wire on my car from mechanic (A) was getting unwrap. That day it was so hot. Next morning, My car wouldn't even start. I took my car back to mechanic (A). Now he going to tell me my car needs new wiring. A harness. He said it come out cheaper selling car for parts. so, I did not fix. Now i do want fix it cuz the car is a good car beside it been sit 4 months. How much does this cost?
- I would have the car towed to a Ford dealer and just get an estimate of the repair cost. I don't think you'll need a whole new wiring harness unless the car suffered some fire or flood damage. If the Ford repair bill is very high, ask their used car department what trade in they have which would be a better car for you. I recommend a 2000 or later year Taurus or Sable. The 3.0Liter engine is great and the transmissions have been holding up well. They are stylish and big enough to protect you in an accident. Taurus has been so popular that Ford is bringing back the name to their new car line. The Ford dealer will have good quality used cars, and being that your current car is a Ford, they may give you some money for your car. You'll get a better used car warranty with the Ford dealer too.
- Q:I have a 2003 trailblazer ls and im trying to get a wire harness to put a after market radio but there is another wire. And I looked it up and it said its a OnStar. Is that really important to have? Can I just leave it unplug or what? I don't really understand why that other wire is there.
- Onstar is an option that you don't require just leave it unplugged. It was an option that allowed you(for a price) to call a central place in case of an emergency or it will automatically call if you are involved in an accident.

- you kidding dude, you think it's as easy as that. practically everything that has to do with the engine needs to be changed out, from the radiator, engine mounts, rear axles, ECU, wires harness, to fuel pump.
- Q:I have a sony cdx-gt32w and when selling my old car I forgot to take the plug for my cd player out. Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can just use wire I have and connectors to connect to the prongs that are there? Or is there another way to do it without buying a $30 part for a $80 cd player?

- Q:Current wiring harness has a two wire plug for a sensing circuit but the new alternator does not have a provision for connecting the plug. One of the wires goes to the ignition switch and the other to the alternator lamp on the dash.
- Check voltage between both wires with the original alternator and the engine running as well as stopped (but key on). my guess is the original alternator closes the circuit between the positive (coming from ignition key) and lamp. As for the replacement alternator my guess is it supplies ground from its only connector when the lamp should be lit (please measure it with voltmeter!). If my theory is correct you should wire a relay in the middle to allow the lamp to be lit, since you need a positive for the lamp.
- Q:I have a kenwood ddx-6019 double din dvd head unit, now my question is can I use any 22pin wiring harness for my head unit?
- negative, it has to made for that radio different manufactures use different color wires and placement so it MIGHT work if they are from the same manufacture, built around the same time and fit
