- Q: I bought a salvaged vehicle and the door was switched with one of a different year or model Im not sure. I cant work the power locks because the harness does not match the plug. I found one for a 1999 civic ex but I dont know if it will also work on the lx. Any suggestions?
- the interior wire harnesses are all different bc of the motor. the lx is a non-vtec and the ex has the vtec motor so when they made them they made 3 different wire harnesses bc of the dx, lx, and ex. but for the doors from a ex to a lx are the same bc they are powered unlike the dx model.

- This may sound like a daunting problem but don't be afraid it is not that bad.Wiring looms are very well engineered and they make an effort to make them idiot proof. Just lay out the wire bundles as close to where they belong as you can remember the connectors will be somewhere near the components they belong to. The ends of the connectors are all different you usually cannot plug them into the incorrect part just keep plugging them in until you run out of connectors. There may be one or two you cant figure out but their function will usually become obvious when you try to start car and something doesn't work or a light comes on. Good luck.

- You need to tap your ignition wire, splice a remote wire on it and run it to your amp and wire it to the remote turn on terminal.

- Connect the harness to the stereo, now the one thats in there from the orig stereo has to be cut off. Disconnect the battery 1st. Cut the wires pretty close to the base of harness so you have long wires then strip the end bout 1/2 an inch to all. match the basic colors, black is ground (do this one 1st) , Red is 12v, then might be a yellow and orange do those to if available. then do speaker wires those should easy. 2 of same color but one of each has a white stripe. Then twist them good and elec tape around each one then to keep it clean tape them all together or use a cable tie

- There is no way of increasing the output of bulbs by changing a harness - the best result you can hope for is that it will reduce the voltage drop due to conductor resistance. On the other hand, standard harnesses are designed to keep the voltage drop within acceptable limits, thus preserving the light output of headlight bulbs. In principle, the heavier the wire gage, the shorter the wire, the lower the conductor resistance and the more volts getting to the bulbs. More volts result in more A (amps) which make the fillaments glow. More amps provide whiter light.

- In 99% percent of all shops you go to, depending on the the problem of your wiring, they all go by whatever time it takes to remove and install. There may be a actual book time, but most shops don't observe it
- Q: I started up my bike after being dormant for a while and there was a very small amount of smoke coming from around the wiring harness located under the seat. I shut the bike off, but the harness remained very hot. Once it cooled I started the bike again and the wires became hot again. Does anyone have any suggestion for why this might be? Is it normal? - Sounds like you have a wire or two shorting out. Check the harness for nicks, cuts, kinks, or other obvious damage. Perhaps the seat itself has damaged a wire. This is not normal. It won't get any better until you get it fixed. Good luck.
- Q: i have the complete wiring harness for my craftsman lawn mower. i have the ignition switch and all kids of wires that im pretty sure i dont need i just need/want it to start it and kill it.i need to know what wiring i need to use just for the ignition switch and if i am going to have to bypass other wiresit is an upright motor the flywheel is already on it i just need to know how to get power to the starter and to be able to use my key switch i plan on putting it on my go cart so i dont need half the wires on the wire harness.
- You're probably better off just running your own wires, if you want to use the existing wires then usually the keyswitch has one or two 'accessories' lines for lights, etcjust leave them unhooked. I can't help with the actual diagram, if you know the wire colors for the wires going to the starter that will help. Do you also have a starter relay? If it existed then it should be still wiredit may have a terminal that needs to be touching ground to work. Other than thatit's up to what you have documented (notes?) as to where everything was originally wired. Good Luck.
