Q:i have an 06 Chevy Colorado and i'm wanting to install an after market stereo. i was told by best buy that my truck needs a $130 wiring harness so that my trucks gauges and chimes won't mess up. they said eventually, if i went with a cheap harness, the stereo itself would go bad as well. do i really need a harness so expensive or can i go with some thing cheaper. i have a factory stereo that doesn't have on star or anything special.

you kidding dude, you think it's as easy as that. practically everything that has to do with the engine needs to be changed out, from the radiator, engine mounts, rear axles, ECU, wires harness, to fuel pump.

Q:i had a stereo put in my 99 cadillac deville and the lovely experts at best buy removed my wiring harness and hard-lined my stereo. this i learned from a custom stereo shop, where my work is done now. how much would it cost to get a new harness and have it installed by a car electric place? i don't know a ton about cars so i don't want to be over-quoted. p.s. i've already tried to go back to best buy and they're being difficult; i plan to file a claim after everything is fixed and i know what to sue for. most electrical shops charge by the hour so this could wind up costing you about 100,or more,if they can just install the radio part of it,plus the cost of the harness,they,ll do this on time,so how ever long it takes them will be the amount they charge you for,they get around 50-75 bucks an hour labor for doing electrical work ,good luck.

If you want to use both at the same time I would just splice it into the existing wire. If you are trying to make them interchangeable put in some wire connectors on either bulb.

Q:fuel pump was pulled out and direct power run to it - it works fine. when plugged back into wire harness, it gets no power. Wire harness appears to be good. I bought a fuel pump relay that i'm getting ready to try. I was wondering if there is any other thoughts on what this could be.

I bought a harness for my 88 Dodge Ram Charger, but once he took out the old stereo system, the harness did not match up to the wires there. It looks like my truck was manufactured in Japan by Mitsubishi, so i'm just wondering what harness I actually need. Should I be looking for one meant for 88 Mitsubishi?
