Q:I want to buy a motorcycle, but I don‘t want to just go out and buy one without knowing how to ride. And how do I practice riding?? Is some guy really going to let me test-drive his motorcycle without me being licensed or experienced.??
Beats me. I have been keep a finger or two on both brake and clutch. In 50 years I have never crashed. Ask those who *do* crash why they do not cover the front brake.
Q:The world's first motorcycle.
1885 spring, Germany's Gottlieb Daimler and his assistant Maybach after years of research and testing, and finally made a two-stroke vertical single-cylinder, gasoline-fueled internal combustion engine. Volume 264CC, 600 rpm to reach 0.5 horsepower maximum power. They put the engine in the oak for the frame of the bike, the world's first motorcycle also was born. For Daimler and Maybach, driving a motorcycle is not an end, the most important thing is to test the performance of internal combustion engines and to be improved.
Q:I just bought a hardtail chopper and it doesn‘t have a front brake. I‘ve been riding for years, but have never owned a bike with just a back brake. So I guess my question is should I put a front brake on it or will I be able to adjust to just using the back brake. I checked into putting a front brake on it and was told it would run me around $1000 and I don‘t really want to put that much into it right now.
A lot of BS. Back in the late '60's , when American bicycles were big tired heavy duties and the english racer was rare the racer wheel brakes could throw a rider leaning forward over the handle bar, some idiot decided that front brakes on a motorcycle did the same thing. The truth is that 80% of the braking on a motorcycle is done with the front brake. If I crashed out in the country and disabled my front brake, I would ride into town using only my rear. I would not leave my garage to ride into the country with only a rear brake. Like jumping off a building, the jumps OK but the sudden stop ( semi truck bumper) will kill you. The only design you missed was the suicide clutch for a lousy motorcycle.
Q:I am a very new motorcycle rider. I just learnt to change oil and do small works on my motorcycle. I don t know the mechanism about the brake fluid works, but I know it works using the air pressure. I opened the front brake fluid reservoir without thinking. But I closed it immediately. Do I have to bleed the brakes since I disrupted the vacuum/air pressure? Will this affect by brake performance. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hydraulic brakes are simple. Disk brakes are super simple. The air does not use pressure. Air is simply the empty part of the fluid reservoir. The fluid is not compressible. Air is. If you get air in the hydraulic lines the you squeeze the air instead of the brakes and you don't stop.
Q:When I ride my motorcycle, I get a clunking noise from the front end when going slow over bumps and i get a little shake when braking hard. My bike has been lowered 1 1/2 inches. Is this a cause of my suspension or effects of lowering it or some sort of front end bearing? The bike even gets a little bumpy over just patched cracks in the road.
That's more than likely the stem bearings. Lift the front end off the ground and grab the fork tubes and see if there is any play. There should be no play.
Q:I'm thinking about riding one in vancouver, and god knows it rains a lot there. Is it safe though? and what other gears should i wear/use/put on aside from raincoat to keep me dry? Thank you
Like everyone else said, if you have the right gear you will be okay. However, driving a motorcycle is dangerous enough. Riding in the rain is just adding to that danger. The reality is the roads can get slippery. I remember I was driving by the mall and it was starting to rain so it really wasn't anything too bad. But the guy on the motorcycle in front of me almost had an accident. And to top it off he was being an idiot and not wearing a helmet.Even though it was on his head. He had it so that it was fitting him like a baseball cap.
Q:Someone offered me a bike like that, but i never heard of them before.Thank you.
This is the first time I've heard about those motorcycles but when I checked their website I saw that they are small displacement cruizers of 300cc. They are liquid cooled which is good, have dual brakes and steel brake lines. All nice stock features. They look pretty good but I personally prefer a bigger (800-1000cc) engines because of the . I DO love the in-line dual cylinder engine though. So it's a matter of if you like them or not - they are not very famous so their retail value will be low so make sure that you don't pay too much for them. I see that brand new they run about $4,000-5,000 Good luck!!!
Q:Does anyone know the model name of this motorcycle?
Looks like a 1960's/70's Ural - see www ssackownersclub .uk/uralm. for a pic of an M62 but it could be an M63 At one time they were sold in the UK with what looked like a machine gun mount bar on the sidecar - since discontinued.
