- Q:I won a Custom Motorcycle that came with no Speedometer, no turn signals, no mirrors, and the front brake does not work the brake light. From what I have read I don‘t need turn signals to pass an inspection if the motorcycle was built without them? But do I need a speedometer, Mirrors, and a front brake light to pass an inspection?
- Sounds like a show motorcycle, not built for the street. Pure Butt Jewelry. Equipment is trivial. First thing to do is to find out if the motor is emission legal for the street.
- Q:I‘ve never driven one before, and I don‘t know anyone who drives one. Is there a moderately-priced place to learn in the Virginia Beach area?
- Well first of all you don't -drive- a motorcycle, you -ride- it. You learn by doing. That's the only way. The MSF course doesn't teach you to ride, they teach you some very important safety habits to keep you safe while you learn on your own. Get a bike, get your learner's permit, and ride slowly around a quiet residential neighborhood or quiet country road until all the controls are 'automatic', until you don't have to waste a second thinking 'Hmm, now which of these doodads is the brake?' Go a little slower than you think you can because the slower you're going the longer you have to see things and react to them. Motorcycles are not that complicated, not that hard to drive. If you've never ridden a bicycle, then I'd suggest you learn on one of those first, at least how to balance and steer, because they go a lot slower and it's not as traumatic when you have a minor spill. But if you can ride a bicycle then a motorcycle is basically one of those, with a motor. I'd guess clutching and shifting is the hardest thing for most people, unless you can drive a manual-shift car. (And the MSF course will teach you that.) The controls are in different places--in a car you clutch with your foot and shift with your hand, and on a bike it's just vice versa, but once you understand how clutch and shift work it's not that hard to get used to it on a bike. I was taught to drive with a clutch, so when I bought my first motorcycle I just jumped aboard the beast and rode it home! These days that's not considered a good idea, but it shows you, it's nothing you have to go to school or or anything.
- Q:So i changed the front pads of my sportbike..introduction: (at beggining the front brake lever was too low almost touching the handle to brake. When i changed the new pads, nothing really changed so i put a little top inside the regulation of the lever just to put it upper, so when i brake dont go too down )the problem. So after changing the pads, the bike got really braked, the wheel dont turn, and after a while it virtually stopped the bike too sudden, and got overheated on the disc rotors..i had to bleed them but after a little ride it happens again the bike brakes itself, and become really hard.the funny thing is that overnight the brakes got released itself and the wheel turns again.. until i brake a couple of times when it gets stucked again..What is it =(what i did wrong?whats the solution thanks!!mech experts 10 pts.
- Like someone else said. The piston is stuck in the bore of the caliper. Had a bike come thru a few days ago with the same issue. Duel caliper fronts and the left one frozen solid. Put 170psi of air to brake free. Nothing. 170psi should have shot that piston a cross the parking lot and down the street.
- Q:Hi guys, I've got a 99 CB400, been doing recent work on it and when it came to bleeding the front brakes, they simply wont bleed..I've checked the master cylinder located below the reservoir and had a worn seal changed in it. After that, checked if it was working and bled just the master cylinder with the hoses to the calipers disconnected, than tried to bleed the calipers but no luck, just a few bubbles from time to time. Sometimes the bubble would actually go back into the hose instead of going completely out.Can anyone help please from personal experience or please redirect me to a post that sheds some light on this situation? I have also checked the hoses, there are no tears. Could changing the washers and putting new ones help?
- Remove the caliper. Put a piece of wood or metal inbetween the brake pads (where the rotor would go). Hold the caliper high above the master cylinder, then bleed as normal. The air will rise up to the caliper so it will be bled at the bleeder screw.
- Q:For sport bikes
- the best clutch is BARNET!
- Q:on a motorcycle, thanks!
- Cross drilling the disks helps with heat loss, as the friction generates an monuments amount of heat through braking. Also for water displacement, If i'm not mistaken, it was first used to displace the gas/dust the old asbestos pads generated.
- Q:the motorcycle will not decrease speed by gentle application of brakes, I have to floor the rear brakes and grab the front brake calliper.is there something wrong with my brakes?
- If i was you i would do a tune up spark plugs and all of that it happens often to honda crv's
- Q:CBS Brake System The CBS (Combi-Brake System) uses both front and rear wheels to brake simultaneously. Even if the driver is not skilled, but also through a single operation, it is easy to complete a smooth brake.

- Q:.or do the big cruisers have a little more trouble due to increased weight?
- No they don't. They have the same problems with small brakes on the econo models as cars. Take the Dodge Grand Caravan that my wife drove during the children/car-seat years. Now those brakes sucked like nothing elese because the cheap A/H's at Dodge based the car on something that was much smaller and added weight to the chassis. It wore brake pads every 15 to 20K miles in town. Now I drive a german car and have put 40 to 50K miles on the car before they needed new pads. And the truck that I drive has 50K miles and is on the original set of pads. But back to the motorcycles, I have a heavy american bike and it have 8K miles on it and the rear pads have been replaced. Other high performance bike that I have owned and ridden for years have never burned thru a set of pads or shoes. 70% of braking is done with the front wheel.Proper sizing is the answer. Cheap low line models always have cheap brakes. I would sooner have a little less HP and better brakes.
- Q:The two sentences are:a. The motorcycle broke loudly as it came to a stop.b. The motorcycle braked loudly as it came to a stop. Thanks!
- A. Braked is not a word. (:
