- Q: My pets have ruined my carpet. I need to rip it up and replace it, but that is way to expensive right now. I am just looking for a product I can buy at a drugstore, spray on the carpet, and vacuume off. Thank you!!
- If you have pets that often mess on carpets, you may want to not reinstall carpets. Instead, once you can afford it, consider installing a hard surface that's easier to clean, such as tile or etc. When you do clean, use an enzyme cleaner, to eliminate the Oh, this is my piddle place smell that will cause them to reuse that spot. For now, to help the carpets stink less, put baking soda all over the carpet, and let it sit for a half hour or longer. Then vacuum it up. This will not remove the deep-set pet odors that are in the carpet pad, but it will help remove the odor in the carpet itself, which can only help. Baking soda can work wonders with odors. But if the odors are in the carpet pad, as I suspect they are, any product is only going to help so much. I know others say you can get a steam cleaner and clean the carpets, but in my experience, all this does is release the hounds. It activates any old, dormant pet odors in the carpet pad, and makes the situation worse. So I'm not so sure of this one. Maybe a professional carpet cleaning company... but I make no promises on that.
- Q: should I go with a cream-colored rug with a lighter color? That would give an espresso and cream look...
- Yes, it would look nice, and would not get as dirty looking as a cream color rug. And with the solid furniture it will add interest as well. I would add some bright colors in your accessories, just about any color you like will look good. I personally love lighter blues with brown, sage green and brown is a hot combo right now, or warm tones like red or orange would spice it up. Add your choice in pillows, throws, table decor, whatever you love.
- Q: I have just gotten a large area rug and Ihave put it on a bare floor. Do I need to put something under the rug. It is not slipping or anythhing.
- I would say no.But I think once you start washing it,it will lose it's grip.
- Q: I can't seem to find a decorative rug within my budget? What makes them so expensive?
- HI, Expensive is a relative term. You need to get more objective here. Being a rug manufacturer in Agra , India ; I feel that my customers (who import the rugs) charge a King;s ransom when they sell a rug made by me to the retailer, but what the retailer charges from the consumer is even more than a Kings ransom. But still, a 100 year old rug going for USD 30,000 will appear cheap to me while a newly made rug of the same size and design going for USD 3000 will appear expensive to me. Yours question asks why are rugs so expensive, the reason behind it is the time, patience , skill and labour that goes behind making each and every one of these timeless beauties. An oriental rug of size 8' x 10' takes upto 4-5 months and 5 weavers to make. Thats a lot of time. A 8x10 rug may have anything between 640K Knots to 1.7 million knots in it depending on its quality. Each knot is tied by hand. IF you take out the price per knot it will be much less than a cent. Each knot takes an average of 7 seconds to tie. Now think, is the price you pay too much when compared to the labour behind the rugs? If you ever happen to come to Agra, call upon me and I will take you to the looms where the rugs are woven. Then you will truly come to appreciate the value of these rugs. Also, in case you want a rug , but the price seems to much, try buying directly from a rug making country like India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey. This way you will be able to cut out the importers retailers margin. You can also order a custom rug based on your size/color/design at no extra cost.
- Q: What is the difference between an area rug and an accent rug?
- An Area rug is generally to cover a wood floor and is for walking on; typically in the middle of the room. It is not wall-to-wall like carpet, but normally large. An accent rug is generally smaller, and used only furniture for decoration, or as a mat by a door. An accent rug is a sub-set of area rugs. All Accent rugs are area rugs, but not all area rugs are accent rugs.
- Q: i am doing an equine course and one of the papers is on stabling and the question is asking to quot;explain two reasons why a horse would be rugged if it was spending the night in a stablequot; in the course book it dose not have anything on this and all the books i have read don't explain it ether. lots of help appreciated
- If the stable has a lot of draft coming in thru the windows or doors or whatever. Also if the horse is sick. Pretty basic
- Q: I spilled Sunny D on my white shag carpet any ideas of how to get it out?
- If it were me, I'd take the opportunity to get rid of the shag carpet and replace it with something more practical. Otherwise ... blot the area dry as quickly and thoroughly as possible, insuring you also absorb the fluid from the padding. Once the bulk of the liquid has been removed, I'd spritz the area with water and allow it to sit for about five minutes, then repeat the blotting. Repeat until no color remains. Consider an inexpensive shampoo suitable for shag if needed.
- Q: What is composite carpet
- A carpet that two materials are bound together.
- Q: Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Thanks...
- Consumer Reports says that for small stains Resolve carpet cleaner is the best
- Q: How do I clean my large area rugs? I have hardwood floors and the rugs are covering different areas. Two are 4 x 7 rugs and the other is a 5 x 7 wool carpet. I don't want to harm the wood floors underneath with cleaners...
- Although I have all of my large area rugs professionally cleaned once a year, I use the Resolve dry granulated carpet cleaner several times a year. Since it is dry, it doesn't saturate into the flooring below. You simply sprinkle it on the rug, agitate it into the fibers with the brush on a stick that comes with it and wait til it dries to vacuum it up. It leaves a nice scent, it isn't expensive and the gallon size should be enough to do all of your rugs a few times. I use it on my Tibetan wool and my silk area rugs without fear of damage. I also use it for spot cleaning on the rug under my dining room table and it takes out the stains with little effort.
