- Q:I have a plain, off-white area rug that I want to dress up a little. I got the idea from a home improvement show where they used paint for the same purpose, but I don't remember the details such as what kind of paint they used or how they were able to completely cover the area desired without having the paint bleed into the rest of the rug. Anyone done this before? Tips?
- On HGTV I heard you can paint a rug with Latex paint. You can always go to your home improvement store and ask them, even call them. It was Design Remix, the show that I saw them do it, and it was Latex paint that they used and they said you can paint any rug with it. I would write down what the rug's made out of and call the company of the paint and ask them if you can use it on a rug before doing it. You don't want to use it and have it ruined. I'm thinking as long as it's not a carpet kind of rug, you should be fine. I hope this helps!

- You will be sore for a few days. The rug burn analogy is pretty accurate. I can compare getting the tattoo to scratching a bad sunburn, or worse. It depends on the needle size, the location and the artist. Take some advil before you go. It might help a little. The needles are way different than the ones your doctor uses for injections. I hate getting shots but I can sit as long as 6 hours getting a tattoo. Try to relax. That will also help alot. And be sure to follow the artist's insructions for the healing process. The pain is temporary. Your beautiful artwork will last a lifetime.

- I'm not certain whether you are asking what to put in a steam cleaning machine or what you can use to clean it without using a steam machine. So, I'll answer both ways. If you want to use the cheapest means possible to clean carpet, remove odors and get down to the padding, a steam cleaner with 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar will do it. Otherwise, use the detergent and solutions recommended for the type of machine you have or rent. If you want to clean the carpet without a machine, you have a couple of choices both are not expensive. You can use dry carpet cleaning granules, Resolve and Capture both make them. You just sprinkle them down, agitate into the fibers with a brush on a stick, let it dry and vacuum it up. Or you can use a foaming cleaner, like Woolite or Scotchguard Foaming Carpet Cleaners, use a damp mop to work it in and a brush to treat stains, allow that to dry and vacuum.

- My husband owns a carpet cleaning company and I just asked him and he says to simply get a brown or white paper bag (grocery bag or lunch bag will work), Lay a single layer of this paper over top of the wax, get an iron and simply iron over the paper. The wax will transfer to the paper bag and remove itself from your carpeting. He cautions that you should not leave the iron on the paper too long. Once you apply the iron to the paper you will immediately see the wax attach itself to the paper. Good Luck!

- I had maple hardwood floors before i remodeled and now carpet. I can't seem to figure out the same question. Maybe hardwood with a nice oversized throw rug under the bed next time. Call me girly but i like the feel of carpet when i get out of the bed but the look of hardwood can't be beat and it's easier to clean.

- I have used them many years ago before I bought my own steam cleaner. They are fine and not all that expensive. Like any steam cleaner it applies soap and water and then sucks it out of the carpet leaving the carpet damp not wet. No you don't have to leave windows open. When it is done the carpet is barely even damp if done right. I much prefer my own steam cleaner or at times hiring Stanley Steemer for a whole house job. But the rentals work fine for the money. They also offer upholstery cleaner so it's a great way to clean your furniture at the same time.
