Q: I have a Large area rug that I need cleaned. A woman that had a HOUSE TRAINED dog gave it to me. I want to clean it as the dog walked and layed down on this rug as well. The dog never urinated on this rug which is good. It just smells like dog so I want to get it cleaned. I don't think a rug doctor will do the trick. Does anyone out there know where I can take it to be cleaned. Again this a LARGE. thanks. Or if you have used a rug doctor or s specific cleaner to remove (not cover up) the odor please let me know what works for you.: Many commercial rug shampooers will do the trick. Since you say there are no urine stains or smells, the dog smell should be gone by the time the rug dries, after you shampoo it. Try a rental machine yourself first. I've rented them before, but can't remember specific brands. Shampoo it thoroughly with the machine, then let it dry, preferably out of doors. Try laying it out on a picnic table, or even on the grass to dry. Drying it outdoors will help dry faster and help remove any lingering odors. If this doesn't work, call a professional rug cleaner, or throw the thing away.

But as they get older they will need some pretty sturdy branches. Depending on what locality you get, it may get anywhere from 6'-12'. Carpet Pythons actually mellow out a lot when they mature a bit. They are fine with being handled, and it'll make it easier on you. You could start off in a big tank, but you have to make sure that the snake feels secure. Lots of hides, branches, etc. Plus you need to make sure there's enough heat for the whole cage. I would start off in a smaller tank if you can, but you don't have to. And one other tip about Carpet Pythons, unlike most snakes, which are usually fed prey the size of the fattest part of the snakes body, they actually can eat prey that are bigger than that, and prefer it.

Q: I'm changing the decor of my room. I have 2 dark blue throw rugs that wont match anymore. Instead of buying new ones, I was thinking of bleaching them, then dying them black. Will that work? if so how can I bleach them? I was going to put them in a tote with bleach and water but im not sure how much bleach and how much water I should use.: If you are planning to dye them black, you may not need to bleach them at all. Black is dark so it should cover up any other color. The only reason to bleach first is if the rugs are really different (like one light colored and one dark). Sometimes, black dye is hard to get really dark and so each rug may look a little different. Also, if each rug is made of different fibers, the rugs may turn out slightly different colors. Keep in mind that synthetic fibers are hard to dye. Cotton or such should be pretty easy to both bleach and dye. I've bleached cotton throw rugs in the bathtub with a cup or two of bleach and left them overnight. Just make sure to stir it occasionally so that they bleach evenly and don't get that 'tie-dyed' look. But be careful because bleach can weaken the fibers and make the rug fall apart. ps-Be carefull with black dye because even after the rugs are dry, the black may rub off onto other things.

It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.: The best way to clean an oriental rug is either to wash it yourself with bicarbionate of soda and vinegar, or farm it out to be washed by a company that specializes in oriental rugs. NEVER use detergent or a chemical cleaner, or dry clean, an oriental rug. All these substances will destroy the protective lanolin in the rug. A 6x8 would be really easy to do yourself. First, vacuum it face-down to loosen the deepest dirt, then right side up. You can either lay the rug on flat, clean concrete (not tarmac), or hang it over a couple of ladders or a fence. Then, rub bicarb all over it, then saturate with vinegar; it will foam up and push out the dirt. Rinse well. The advantage of doing it on a flat surface is you can squeegee it, then hang it. If over ladders, it may take a few days to dry.
