Q: Does anybody have a recipe for home made carpet cleaner for a steam cleaner?Thanks: What type of carpet you have? Wools/poly... Whats your machine hold 1/2 galon OR 2 ? 1/2 cup-1 cup vinegar if using soaps too tablespoon to 1/3 cup of tide/gain Lemon about 25 drops... Simple green 1/2 cup Hot water and vinegar gain is o.k. on some however use just a dab (seriouse here)for freshness unless you have lemon essentail oil handy.. Vinegar will leave the least amount of residue in the carpet and will slow down the resoiling process. So using vinegar and Hot water you can still add dabs of tide,gain,simple green. test a area is important.. I would not use a amonia recipe if you have cats or dogs

Q: I'm having a hard time visualizing this. I have two small black tables, a black loveseat, black TV with a black (or soon to be silver stand) and a bright red chaise lounge. I know going with a neutral beige rug would be good, but what is another different color I can go with in a rug? Q: I got some nail polish on our carpeting. How do I clean it off? It's red nail polish on light tan carpet and it looks terrible!: You can usually just cut the nail polish off with scissors. Dissect any clumps first by cutting them in half or thirds or smaller. Then just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to cut just one or two fibers at a time...not whole clumps. This will work unless you have already used a solvent and worked the polish further into the carpet. Also...cutting the polish works on shag, frieze, and plush carpets, but not loopy carpets, like Berber. If you've worked the polish further into the carpet or if you have a loopy carpet, you can fix the problem with a carpet transplant. Carpet transplant: 1. Cut the stained area out using a razor knife. Be careful to cut only the carpet, not the padding under it. 2. Cut a replace piece of carpet from somewhere no one sees, like from inside of a closet. If you have leftover carpet that matches, use this. 3. Trace around the ruined piece of carpet on a piece of paper. This will be your template for the new piece. You want an EXACT match in both shape and size. 4. Use your template to cut the replace piece. 5. Glue or sew the new piece into place. If you use glue, make sure it is waterproof glue. If you would rather sew the piece to the existing carpet, you will need a curved needle. The repair should be undetectable once you're done.

Thanks a lot ppl.: rug doctors work great! last time I rented one from the supermarket, it was 50 or 60 dollars (CDN) plus you have to give them a credit card number. by the time I bought shampoo ( I use vinegar as the defoamer) it cost 80 or 90 dollars total. how wet the carpet gets depends on how wet you make it--the machine gets most of the water out. if you plan on shampooing furniture and stairs, be sure to get the upholstery attatchment

Q: my carpet is tan/bash and i already tried carpet and upholstery cleaner which seems to have gotten out most of the color. however it's still a little sticky!! it's a brand new carpet and my grandma is going to kill me!!!PLEASE HELP!!: Go to the pet store and get Natures Mericle (sorry for bad spelling) it will take anything out of anything. Also the enzymes in milk might take it out. Put milk on a rag and blot or rub the area see if that helps ;)
