Q:My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds,browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks

It's hard to say without pics but as long as there are a few similar colors between the two then I'd say they'd work great - after all we are talking about two seperate areas in one big space so I wouldn't say they'd have to match exactly.

Q:I'm interested in re-carpeting our new house in two small bedrooms, which are approximately 12x14 each. I'm assuming carpet is $1.50 per square foot, but I have no idea about carpet padding.I'm looking into Home Depot for installation.What do you think a rough estimate for my budget should be?Thanks!

It really depends on what you pick out. Synthetic is cheaper than wool. I've recarpeted the same house twice. Once I put down synthetic pile and it was under $2000. Once I put down wool berber and it was $4500. Just really depends on what you pick out. Also, if you pay someone to do the installation, they will charge for every piece of furniture they have to move, charge for pulling up and disposing old carpet, and if you have stairs, they charge extra for those.

Q:My husband and I just moved into yet another rental. The carpet is decent; it's a little stained, but VERY worn in high traffic areas. We have tried everything from having them professionally cleaned to cleaning each inch with a toothbrush (a trick my local flooring salesman gave to make the carpet fibers separate and puff back up). We live in a college town where rent is very high and are so sick of being embarrassed of our carpets. Any suggestions on how to fix this or cover it up?It's a medium pile, standard beige. We HATE area rugs because our furniture makes them wrinkle up (but I'm also very attached to my furniture so I'm not getting rid of that) and I really want a nice smooth look. Even the huge 8x10 area rugs won't stay nice and flat. I looked into carpet tiles, but you can't install those over carpet and my landlord has refused to change it or let me change it. I'm really at the end of my rope here....I just want a nice, clean apartment that I can be proud to show off.

There are many solutions you can come up with and you are having hard time to clean it then why dont you buy a new one than suffering for an old rug, i am sure you can find cheap one so you will not be embarassed by your visitors.

Q:I just purchased an indoor-outdoor rug for my kitchen. I thought maybe it would wear better and not show every little spill or dirt.I had a black rug in there before and it showed everything.My problem is that I can't seem to get the wrinkles out of it.Down the sides of it are ripples and they won't go away. Therefore it won't lie flat on the floor and I'm afraid someone might trip ovr it and get hurt.

double sided tape or industural strength velcro to adhere it to the floor...the velcro will work better...get it at your local hardware store (lowes, Homedepot, ace etc..)

Q:i have looked around and nobody seems to be selling white carpet...yeah i know it's gonna get dirty and no i dont want a white area rug i want white carpet. I live in florida near tampa. Any help would be nice!!

Have you asked the carpet stores that you were already to if they could order the white carpet for you? I wouldn't think that should be a big deal at all. A lot of carpet stores may not have all colors of carpeting available on sight. They should have plenty of samples for you to look at and you choose the one you want. If you don't see it in the store, that doesn't mean they can't order it for you. There shouldn't be an extra charge for ordering the carpet you want.

Q:I am having such a hard time finding a rug for my small studio apartment! I have white walls, an off-white/very light creme colored modern leather couch, a glass coffee table (smart coffee table-cb2) and a dark wood tv console. I just purchased a small dining table which is basically next to my tv console and it is also dark wood. I wanted to keep the entire room light but after an impulsive buy, I realize that the dining table definitely darked the room by a lot. Would using a white area rug clash with the off-white couch? I was also thinking of a light taupe colored rug that I think might match better but I want a color as light as possible. Would white be bad, aside from difficulties in maintenance?Last question, in a small room, would a dark wood tv console, dark wood dining table and a dark wood entryway console table be too much dark wood?Thanks a lot!

yeah all depends on your preference. mine is grey, doesnt really make a difference to me. but carpet itself serves as a sound dampener to keep the box tight and to not let it bang around when the bass hits. i didnt think it was a stupid question. good question.

There is dust on the carpet, you can wash the broom in soapy water, sweep the carpet, with the dip, keep the broom moist, and then sprinkle with fine salt, and then broom cleaning, and finally wipe with a cloth clean.
