Q:I have a cream couch with thin stripes color stripes are tan, beige Brown... Would this rug go good infront of it?! I plan to get a palm plant to put at the end of the couch- its a 2 piece sectional really nice!!!But im into more natural nuetral colors... for our living room!: Your opinion is the only one that really matters. But I think it would look too busy...stripes + the print of the rug. Me? I'd go for a plain, solid rug in a color that picks up one of the stripes of your couch. Or a grass mat. (These are woven. They don't look like a lawn. lol )

Q:My uncle was given a (real) polar bear rug by a little old lady, and it's vintage. We'd like to sell it, but we have no idea where to start. It's incredibly creepy to have this poor dead thing hanging out in your garage. Is it legal to sell it in the US? It does have some damage, it's missing part of a paw, and the nose is a bit sad looking. Otherwise, it's still soft and life-like.: Don't know but...since our government has listed them as threatened, I do know you better be careful and make sure you find out the real scoop on your question. Q:I want to use baking soda to freshen my rugs before I vacuum. I won't use commercial odor eliminators (the strong scent gives me a headache). Has anyone used baking soda and experienced a change in color or any damage to your carpets?: Shake the baking soda on your carpet and let it sit for fifteen minutes then vacuum it up. I used it a few times and never had any damage to my carpet. You can use it on a small area of your carpet to test it before you use it on your entire carpet

Q:we are trying to remove the old carpets in my house. you see last year, are air conditioner broke and leaked fluid all over the hallway carpet, and now we're trying to remove them. how do you do it with out ruining the floor below.: Go to a corner and simply pull up the carpet. It is probably attached by a tack strip.....a strip of wood with slanting nails to hold the carpet. Remove all of the carpeting and then all of the padding underneath. A dust mask is a good idea while doing this. If you intend to send the carpet out with the trash, cut strips no larger than 4 feet and roll the strips up into tight tubes and tie with string. Last, remove the tack strip. The tack strip has been nailed down. A small nail every 6 inches or so. Remove the strip carefully. If you need to pry, use a piece of the padding or carpet under your pry bar so as not to dent the flooring. You will have some nail holes in the flooring from the tack strip, but this is close to the wall and so it won't be too noticeable. Know that you probably have water damage on the flooring from your leak and you may need to have the floors refinished. Good luck!

Q:I need carpet and pad installed in my home. I will remove old carpet. What is the estimated installation cost. Appx 1100 sf. thanks: Carpet prices vary widely as does quality. But you can get a mid grade carpet and pad to cover any warranties for around 3$ a s/f installed. Of course you can get a better carpet ( and cheaper ) but you generally get what you pay for.. Don t down grade pad since this is the back bone of any carpet..If any thing this is one place to up grade to what you can afford. GL

Q:THE COLOR IS CYAN, AND THE CARPET IS BEIGE: I had just had the carpets cleaned when the next day dropped a toner cartridge on the carpet. Did not want to have it cleaned again, I tried several different substances before I found one that took all the ink out. It is a cleanser that has peroxide in it, so you could probably try using a mixture of water and peroxide on the carpet. Dab with a white towel. Do not rub, or you will be pushing the color further down into the carpet. As long as you have color coming onto the rag, you are pulling ink out of the carpet. Might take several attempts. You also might have to redo it once the carpet has dried. This is called wicking when the stain comes back up to the surface.
