Q:i can put carpet over a wooden floor cant i??: Yes, I worked in a carpet store for 8 years and what we told customers is to have it loose laid meaning get a roll that doesn't need seaming and can go right under the molding around the walls if you don't want the carpet tacks to mess up the wood. If you're not concerned about that then just have it laid over the floors. Best wishes

Q:I'm interested in re-carpeting our new house in two small bedrooms, which are approximately 12x14 each. I'm assuming carpet is $1.50 per square foot, but I have no idea about carpet padding.I'm looking into Home Depot for installation.What do you think a rough estimate for my budget should be?Thanks!: It really depends on what you pick out. Synthetic is cheaper than wool. I've recarpeted the same house twice. Once I put down synthetic pile and it was under $2000. Once I put down wool berber and it was $4500. Just really depends on what you pick out. Also, if you pay someone to do the installation, they will charge for every piece of furniture they have to move, charge for pulling up and disposing old carpet, and if you have stairs, they charge extra for those.

Any idea's of how to make it less visible or even patch it ?Thankks MUCHHH .: yes, a carpet installer can patch it if there can be found a piece of carpet that closely matches it.if you can get it at a carpet store that would be the best,otherwise you can take a piece out of a bedroom closet or somewhere it won't be as noticeable.you can do it yourself but it is very complicated to explain on here.basically it is like a patch.

The room is heated but for some reason the carpet gets musty smelling over time.: Good morning, The other user gandrew is right about using a vapor barrier plastic sheeting underneath your floors in the crawlspace, but you can also go a step further and use a higher-quality carpet pad that has anti-microbial treatment in it alongside a vapor barrier. I work for The Home Depot and we, alongside other home centers, sell upgraded pads you can buy that have these features to ensure you won't have to run into the musty odor carpet problem ever again. Also, when you buy your carpet, be sure the material is of high quality and check for things such as moisture and stain warranties to make sure you are getting the best carpet for your great room. While there are other things to do, such as painting your wood floors and crawlspace walls with a moisture barrier material, it's much easier and works just as well to secure sheets of plastic underneath your floors (use .4 mil or thicker) and a high quality 6lb. or higher carpet pad. This one-two punch of a vapor barrier in the crawl space as well as a pad underfoot when you purchase your new carpet can and will ensure you will have a moisture/smell-free floor guaranteed! Q:Okay, a its getting colder ive started rugging my horse again, but theres one slight problem. He' terrified of them. It never happened before, but for the past couple of weeks the only way i can get a rug off him is by undoing the straps and letting him spook while holding onto the rug, and then putting it on i have to have very skilled aim and try to get it on while he is running in circles.This isnt happening because this is his first year of having a rug, he has had them for all 14 years of his life, its just ridiculous, and its not like the rug is different in any way at all. Its not my method of putting on/taking off the rug either, no one at my stable can do it without him spooking. Just wondering though, is there anyway i can desensitise him to this? Or find a better way to get the rugs on and off?: Silly horses. I don't have too much advice about desensitizing, I haven't had to deal with that a lot, but I do have a great way to take it on and off! Undo all the clasps, and then starting in the back, fold it half way up his back. Then take the front and fold it until it meets the folded back part. Then you will just have a strip of blanket on his back that you can remove without a lot of noise and fuss. Keep it in that same shape to put it back on. Unfold the front and then the back, then do all the clasps. I take off blankets and put them on this way on all horses I deal with and its really fast and effective. It's also a great method if the horse is really tall.
