Q:My parents bought a 5 x 7 area rug about 20 years ago, at K-Mart or somewhere abouts, and bequeathed it to me when I moved out. The colors are still really nice, but the problem is- and I suspect this has always been the case- its a bear to get clean. I don't mind a few spots, but it collects hair like mad. Its a very tight-woven rug, with no long strands. I run my Dirt Devil upright over it usually three or four times, and nothing budges. Is there a vacuum cleaner that is powerful enough to disentange hair from the carpet fibers? I really don't want to throw it out or store it, but I can't afford to have it professionally cleaned, at $100 a go, every month.

You want a very low pile, looks pretty much like outdoor carpet (that green stuff) if you know what I mean. But if money is no concern I would go with a company that recycles carpet where they come in periodically and replace it (so ware and stains are no problem) with new recycled carpet. These carpets are better for the environment and have lower VOC's.

Q:I have hard woods floors in my new home, I'd rather not spend a lot of money on buying carpet and getting it installed. I've looked around town, and I can't find any inexpensive area rugs, all of them are $150+. I know there's a lot of good deals online but I can never seem to find them. Does anyone know of any websites that sell inexpensive area rugs 8x10 and bigger and around like $50, and some cheap home decor websites?

Q:My 2yr old spilled ALOT of syrup on our large area rug...I tried HOT water, blotting the area, scrubbing the area and carpet cleaning solutions....any suggestions? Rug still extremely sticky when we step on the areas where the syrup is soaked in.

You will need a lot of water. Put some terry cloth towels underneath and really soak it and blot it a lot. Eventually it will be gone. If you can, put the rug into a Washer or go to the commercial Laundromat and wash it there. I would use soap sparingly or not at all.

Q:colour-not quiter pink-not orange-2 choices I have seen- background medium to lighter green rug with same paprika colour it-abstact pattern or background almost same as sofas with some light green and light blue--is it better to have mor colour that matches sofas or introduce new coulor and pop the sofa colour in it? find colors that compliment the coloring in your furniture as well as add color to the white walls.. go to a store and get some color swatches.. or looka t area rugs an picture your living room in your mind and go through the differnat choices and see what appeals to you... this is very easy..

Q:I need a good turnout rug for my delightful stallion as he manages to break every rug I put on him, wether it being ripping off a belly strap (which I don't know how he does because he is in a field with post and electric fence, so there is no barbed wire or anything for him to tear it on) or he breaks the clips on the leg straps, then the rug slides. I need a proper turnout rug, with a bit of quilting for winter, not just a thin sheet. It obviously needs to be fairly sturdy and hardy but because of the number of rugs I have already bought him, then I can't afford to spend a fortune on it. if it was under ?30 that would be great, but absolutly nothing over ?40.So does anybody know any good brands or can find me links to good ones?
