Q: What do you put between a carpet and a tile floor?: There is a foam pad they use underneath the carpet. And along the edges the put a tack strip which has thousand s of upside down tacks thru a wood strip. This grips the edges of the carpet and keeps it in place. Although the pad isn't absolutely necessary it is advisable.

Q: i puked on my carpet then i scrubed it with soap and water. just wanna know if that'll cause mold to occur?: it won't cause mould to occur so long as you gently go over the stain with warm water and a bit of washing powder,not with any foam or mousse as they will bleach your carpets(they really do bleach).after that,go over it again with just warm water and soak out moisture with a towel or tissue paper.when completely dry,lightly sprinkle talcum powder over it to keep away any smells.don't hoover it off,just let it get walked into the carpet and hoover it the day after.

Q: If I find a carpet remnant I like at a carpet store, for example, will they cut it to the size I want or will I be stuck with whatever size they have?Will binding the remnant be sufficient to use as an area rug or will I need something else?: The carpet can be cut to any size (s) or shape you want. Most all carpet store will have access to binding or a few will do it on site. You ll have a color chart to pick the binding or surging thread color you want to match the carpet. Q: How can a nylon carpet be distinguished from a polyester carpet?: From the feel, nylon carpet softness than polyester carpet soft, polyester carpet feel more hard. By using the same pigment, the color of nylon is more lustrous than that of polyester.

Q: When my carpets are cleaned at first, they are perfectly clean and I have a friend who owns a carpet company who doesn't just steam clean the carpets. After a few months, the same stains seem to re-emerge from where they were before as if they were cleaned on the surface but re-surfaced.I have 2 cats where I have cleaned hairballs, and a lot of throwing up, and I think that's what the stains are from. I use the MIracle stuff for cat stains/odors and it seems to work at first, but again they come up especially in the hallway upstairs. The rest of my my carpets are not bad, even after a year. I take good care of them and keep them as clean as possible but these round stains in various places make it look really bad! How can I make them go away permanently. I'm tired of hiring expensive carpet cleaners where they look great for a month or so; then these same spots seem to come back plus additional hairballs which I try to catch as soon as I can.Thanks.: If you have had your carpets professionally cleaned, and they stay clean for a while only to have the same spots re-appear, this means that the padding under the carpet is hopelessly stained. The padding stain will continue to wick up and stain the carpet until the problem is fixed. The solution? You need to have the carpet peeled back, cut the stained padding out, and replace that part with new padding. Any carpet installer should be able to do this. After replacing the stained padding, have the carpet professionally cleaned again, and it will stay clean. Hope this helps. -

Q: I have light carpets (builder special!) and a 2 yr. old and a 4 yr. old. I keep them clean (the carpets and the kids!), but hate to pay for the professional carpet cleaners all that often. I often use Woolite OXY Clean, but I just keep finding more spots. Seems a daily battle. Does anyone know a quot;home remedyquot; I can use to spot remove? I have tried Oxy Clean, and even tho my carpet it light it has bleached some places.: Use a little laundry soap. If you use too much you will have a soapy mess, but I little will do it.

Q: I shampooed my carpet and now have lumps that have risen in the middle of the room?: Wait for the carpet to dry first.. if it's still lumped up, make sure it's not the subfloor delaminating from water. If it is the carpet, you can rent a carpet stretcher and a knee kicker to stretch it out. The carpet is only held by the wall with tack strips which are like yard sticks with nails sticking up. It's not a hard process to do .. just a real pain in the ****.

Q: I used to have a cat, but haven't since I bought a house and completely remodeled it. Now the house is done, and I'd like to get a cat again. I don't like the idea of de-clawing - I think it's cruel. But, I now have expensive furniture in the house and also 2 very expensive antique persian rugs. How is a clawed cat trained not to scratch/claw these things. I've always had problems in the past with this.: I got 2 cats. And they both know how to use da scathing post.all u got 2 do is show it 2 them. After a while they'll know not 2 scracth the rugs but the scratching post.

Q: what is the best way to hang a rug?: There are many ways to go about hanging a rug. I will mention my 3 favorite ways: 1. Sew a long and narrow piece of cloth along the top of the rug (sew along the long edges, leaving a pocket that is open on both sides in order to insert a dowel that will keep the rug straight across the top) You could do this to the bottom as well in order to weigh the rug down, making it hang flat against the wall. 2. Sew double-sided velcro along the top of the rug and on the two bottom corners of the rug. Some velcro comes with an adhesive which you would paste onto the wall (or could be attached to a piece of wood that would then be mounted on the wall if the rug is too heavy). 3. Simply sew loops at even distances along the top of the rug which would then be hooked to hooks/nails/etc, attaching the rug to the wall.

Q: spill candle wax on my carpet and wont come off...: This can be awful for you! The answers you received are all good ones! Paraffin wax is a very difficult thing to get out of carpet. So my first question would be which kind of candle is it? If it is paraffin, then probably one of the answers already given will be good. If it is a proprietary formula of vegetables and other natural resources (a natural wax blend), then you will be able to clean it up with soap and warm water. And it will not mess up your carpet. You may also want to look up on the internet the company that made the candle and see what they suggest. I hope this helps.
