A- The impeller diameter cut for the first time
- Q: I was was wondering how to calculate the head flow rate from a water pump. The water pump outputs 2 bar, which means that it will push water up to 20m in height. It also has a throughput of 2000 litres per hour.I want to pump water up to my loft, which is approx 15m above the pump.What will the flow rate be at this height? Is it a linear calculation of percentage of drop from maximum head height multiplied by the flow rate, (eg 5/20 * 2000 = 500 litres per hour?), or is it more complicated than that?
- If your pump has more capacity than you need, you can always restrict the discharge and create extra artificial head.
- Q: was putting a water pump on, and i tight too much on 2 bolts, and they broke. is it anyway to fix it ?? is it going to cost alot in labor ??
- Take the water pump back off. If the broken studs stick out of the block enough you can get a vice-grip pliers on them and remove them. If you can't get a hold on them then you will have to drill a small hole in the stud and use an Easy Out to back out the broken stud(s). Be sure to drill exactly in the center and not too big. Drilling off center or too big and you will destroy the threads in the block. THEN you will have to re-tap the threads and use a larger size stud. Likely you will have to modify the water pump to handle the bigger studs. So be careful. If you are not confident you can handle this then take it to a shop. Ava g'day mate. ) And good luck.

- Q: I'm not familiar w/ this model but need to swap out the water pump. I have no pictures or publications. Anything in particular to watch out for? Is this a pushrod engine w/ a water pump mounted in the front center of the engine and driven by a serpentine belt? Thanks in advance.
- You probably have the 3.1 v-6, so the pump is not really hard to change, and is a belt driven pump.

- That is your first problem. Once that works, turn it with a 1/2 in wrench and clamp the hose.
- Q: Is there a way to test and see if it is the water pump that causes the car heater to blow hot air one time and then, next time it blows cold air? We flushed the heater core and did other tests, so we do not believe it is the heater core. We left the radiator cap off and ran the car (ford thunderbird..'94) for 20 minutes and watched the antifreeze level come up, but doesn't go down, not circulating. We cannot afford to go to another garage. None of them seem to know what to do anywyas and we keep paying people to fix the heater and it is not fixed. We have put two new thremostats in car, too, figuring that maybe the first one may have been faulty, but should we try that again?
- Remove the thermostat totally from the car and then start it with the radiator cap removed.Verify that there are no vacume controlled valves in the hoses or intake manifold.If the water isn`t moving in the radiator,the impellers are broke in the water pump most likely shaft is broken.Dumb question here(is the pump belt driven?On the front of the engine or internal pump?)
- Q: The water pump gasket in my '98 Forester (130k) recently began to leak, and I will be replacing it in the next couple days. I noticed a stream of bubbles in my overflow container, though, and am wondering if it might be bad head gaskets making the air bubbles. The bubbles only appear after the engine is warmed up, like after a drive around town - there aren't any bubbles when the engine is cold.Is it possible that these air bubbles are coming from the leaking water pump? I hope so, because I'd much rather replace the pump than the head gaskets!
- Yes it is from the leaky water pump. Because it is leaking it will most prob be sucking air. If it was a head gasket you would notice it when cold as well
- Q: I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl while driving home the other day my check engine light came on ,then I noticed my battery was loosing its' charge ,then I noticed my temperature gauge rising very fast.I stoped to see what the problem was.The vehicle had over heated and the serpentine belt was partially off Iet it cool down then I put water in it and drove it home which was about a quarter of a mile.I noticed no problems with the fan hitting the water pump pully until I put the belt back on .My water pump pulley appears to be off line how do I fix this?
- The water pump pulley is bolted to the water pump flange. The flange bolts are sheared off or have worked loose and the pulley/belt combination are no longer turning the water pump. If the flange has come loose from the water pump shaft, it will still be bolted to the water pump pulley. This may have also been caused by a locked up water pump. You can not fix a loose water pump flange or a locked up water pump. A new/rebuilt water pump will have to be installed. Happy Trails!

- It's difficult to answer your question only from the name you give! There are many automatic self suction pumps on the market. Generally, the pump outlet is equipped with a pressure switch. It starts automatically when the pressure is low, and stops after a certain pressure.If the pump outlet is the pool (water tank), then it is not a simple "automatic self-priming pump".It is an automatic water supply system. The whole system includes water pump, water tank, liquid level meter, electromagnetic starter (contactor), switch and so on
- Q: I have a 1992 acura legend coupe V6 3.2 liter engine. My water pump is leaking. How do I tell if I need the 1 tube or 2 tube pump because thats how the water pumps come. Its either the one tube or two tube but I dont know which one I need for my car. also, how much is the cost to install the water pump. Thank You,Josh
- water pump at autozone is about $130.00 to 190.00. to have it installed will be expensive because i think your timing belt in connected to the water pump and that will also have to be replaced. while there in there have them check the belt tensioners and replace if necessary . because this is not the time to go cheap. cause if u don't replace these items one of them could fail and result in permanent engine damage. better safe than sorry . i think it has two tubes. good luck
