Q:Let's see if I can get the right. I have 12 cement columns which are three meters high (on third floor) and I want to put wooden columns on top of them 3 meters high. (fourth floor) The trusses will be on top of the wooden column. I'm concerned about how to connect the wooden columns to the cement columns so that they are stable and secure?
Are you sure they are cement and not fiberglass? Are they solid or hollow? You should maybe run the fourth floor joist out to the columns and put down some subfloor or decking material before adding the new columns. What are the diamiter of the 3rd floor columns? You need to determan the load bearing max on them. If they are fiberglass and 10 they should have a max load of around 10 thousand pounds per column. This should be ok. How far apart are the columns? This will also play into the wieght and how evenly it is distributed. Also check the load max on the new wood columns they will hold much less than the fiberglass.
Q:the types cement made all over world.the good cement use for building construction, cement quantities to abtain all differant kind of building works.any good web site address.
types of cement varry from a place to the other , they are basically 12 . The most common is the Ordinary Portland Cement
Q:tomorow we have an activity onquot;how to mix concretequot;in the mix is: cement, sand, gravel and water..we need to know the ratio of this 4 factorsbecause the usual mix that we know isone bag of cement is to 2 cubic foot of sand and gravel...but the question is if wer going to use only 15% of cementwats the ratio with regards to gravel and sand and water
Hello Claire,, If you mix a cup or a truck load the ratios are the same. For a 3500 psi compressive load its 1 cement to 2 sand 2gravel....Now to be more accurate ,,If you calculate the cubic feet in a cubic yard there is 27 or 3^3...Now when the ASTM set up the Std ratio they based it on cubic feet. A 94lb bag of portland cement is one cubic foot in volume. It has been determined that a 5 sack per cubic yard mix yields 3000 psi compressive strength. A six sack mix yields a 3500lb compressive strength. so actually for 3000 the ratio is 5:27 and 6:27 for 3500 psi.. so for the 3500psi that's 1 cement to 2 1/4 sand and 2 1/4 gravel. When mixing in small batches. LIke your going to do just use a shovel put in 1 shovel of cement 2 sand and 2 gravel. For masonry mortar there are different amounts and materials . A cubic foot is approx equal to 7 shovels full..15% of the bag will take about 2 shovel fulls..A shovel full is subject to the capacity of the person with the shovel..Any way good luck and have fun..from the E
Q:The wind knocked over part of our wood fence. Two of the wood posts that were cemented into the dirt were uprooted. I figure the best way to fix the fence would be to use new posts (or bust off the old cement) and bury them in the ground with fresh cement. I'm feeling lazy and wonder if I do as good of a job just burying the old posts with the old cement back into the ground. Will it hold? Maybe this is a no-brainer for some folks - useful comments appreciated.
First off if the wind blew the fence down then maybe you should go alittle deeper with the post. As to your next question, even though your feeling lazy it is best to knock out the old stuff (concrete) and pour new concrete post mix. If not then it is highly likely that you will be doing it again. Its pretty easy but time consuming. Good luck
Q:I have cement stair and the rod iron railings have rusted off. There is only one post left. Can this be taken off and new one added without replacing the steps? What kind of store would have the railings and how would you go about finding someone to install them?
Any place that specializes in wrought iron will be able to fabricate and replace your railings. You do not need to re-pour the stairs. There are a couple of different ways to fix this depending on what is left of the original railing and how it was attached. Look up wrought iron in the yellow pages.
Q:If the building a total of 6 and a half, almost 7 layers, what is the use of building materials is better? Durable, such as how much steel, what type of cement, how to match? What drain? What wire? What should you pay attention to? Please provide me with a list of building materials and the precautions that should be taken from the building. Anxious!
The following is a brief description, it is recommended to find a nearby project to see if there is no intention of the drawings COPY a change (or on the infringing) wall pillar C30 beam C35 reinforced general beam of 18 to 20 of the three steel plate 12 spacing 200 enough for the stirrups 6 PCT can be spaced 200 encryption area to see their own bricklaying plaster general composite Portland cement 32
Q:i'm deciding on either white cement 4s 2012, or stealth 3s. i already have military blues but im starting not to like them, however i am not selling them. I reallydnt want another pair of 4s but the white cements are probably one of my favorite jordans. Which should i get?
I love the white cement 4s. They are very clean and good looking and can match with alot of stuff and cant really be hated on. The Stealh 3's are also pretty nice but thats more for workouts and in the gym shoes. Go with the White Cements.
Q:What is the difference between concrete an cement?
Cement is the fine grey powder that sticks everything together. And the word even comes from the latin (or greek, maybe) for sticky stuff
Q:it is so uncomfortable to chew!
it's so stupid it will be hard for you when you chew. you cannot even touch your teeth.IT WILL PAIN SO BAD . SO WHAT DO I SAY IS PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.
Q:I have rubber cement. I also have a pen. my pen has no grip. it is always very slippery. I want to make a slim grip for it. I want to use rubber like material. I thought about rubber cement. When it dries, does it feel very rubbery, or like hard plastic, or will it be so rubbery that it will crumble when touched? I would like to know what rubber cement feels like when it is dry. No stupid answers please
wrap some rubber bands around the pen
