Q: I have a big rug in my bedroom which I would like to bring to school- however it smells bad from jsut being on the floor for so long. I would like to clean it just enough so that it won't stink up my dorm room WITHOUT calling a carpet cleaner. Any suggestions?: How about spraying it with a can of resolve or similar brand carpet foam, scrub with a damp mop,let dry then vacuum. Spritz with some febreze.

Q: just found out my light turnout rugs from last year to keep my horses protected from the wind and rain as they live out all year but they are kinda stinky as theyv been storred in the yards shed, the writing on the tag has wore away so i cant see what it says about washing them?they are amigo light turnouts.do you wash yours in any particular way? and what do you use to wash them in?: usually we send our rugs to special rug n carpet washing places, and i think it's really difficult to wash them by yourself , so find a good place and send it .

Q: I've found some rugs that I like but they are all too small like only 2X3' Can anyone help me find any bigger rugs like 5X4' or something around that? thanks!: Rugs that are polypropylene are indoor/outdoor rugs that if purchased at the right place will be soft to the touch and offer the ability to just take them outside and hose them down to clean. They are offered in all styles from traditional to contemporary. Look at Frontgate, Grandinroad and Home Decorators for starters. They are much, much less expensive than standard rug fabrics and are beautiful. They come in all sizes. I picked up a 5x5 round for $99.00 from Frontgate. That is not possible in regular rugs.

Q: I have carpet in the living room, it's not a big room, average size. I have a BISSELL steam cleaner, the one with the bristles, and I can empty the tank 5 times and keep going over the room and it still comes up dirty (the water) Is this normal? It's not possible to clean it until the water comes up clean is it? This carpet is probably old, we moved in a year ago so I am not sure how old it is.: I also have a steam cleaner--a Bissel Proheat 2X. (I love my steam cleaner.) It is not a good idea to steam your carpets repeatedly like that. If the carpet pad becomes saturated with water, mildew and the accompanying musty smell can result. (Guess how I know this.) Your carpet pad may be dirty. There may also be dirt under your carpet pad. I'm pulling up my carpets and replacing them; they've been in the home for about 20 years and the amount of dirt underneath the carpet pad is astounding. Your water will probably never come up clear. My view on carpets is they're someting you walk on, so they may be a little dirty!

Q: what to do if the carpet smells like beer?: Have you ever had the experience of spilling the beer on the carpet? and if you have done that, then it is probably the residue caused by the delayed cleaning up. If there is no such experience, then it may be the material that is not promptly cleaned up or the bad glue.

Q: Someone please tell me by 12:00am april 28 2007 all the steps of putting carpet down!!: It depends on the type of carpet, some use mild adhesieves and others have to be stretched...if it is the kind that has to be stretched you will need a tack strip around the pirimeter of the room and padding cut to fit on the inside of the tack strip, then you will need to rent a carpet stretcher which has teeth on it and get down on your knees and knee kick the stretcher to stretch the carpet towards the tack strip all the way around the room, very hard on the knees....when you get the carpet stretched to the tack strip tap the carpet onto the tack strip with a hammer, good luck.
