- Q:so funny story haha. i was at softball practice last night at an indoor facility. The ground is made of an astroturf- carpet type material. the drill was to practice sliding on a piece of cardboard. i however slid a bit too early and skinned my thigh on the carpet/astroturf stuff.Now i have a giant burn thing about the size of my fist on my right thigh. It oozes constantly (which is extremely gross!) Last night i slept with it uncovered hoping it would dry up a bit, but it didn't. i taped a piece of medical gauze over it today for school, but it oozed right through! Also, when i went to take it off, the gauze was stuck right to it, and i had to yank it off hard, and it hurt soooo badd. i really don't want to have to do it again! Can someone please tell me how to make the pain go away (it burns!), make it dry up, and stop oozing? I've skinned myself before, but this is the worst one i've ever had.
- Ew that's pretty gross. It must really hurt. :S The best thing I can think of is to just wrap it with gauze instead of simply taping it. Hope it heals soon. Make sure it doesn't get infected or anything - if it does go to the doctor.

- This rug has been abused on many occasions with so called cleaning/deodorizing powders. There are several of these products on the market. They are all a rip off, as they do not vacuum back out as the directions say. This rug will continue to bleed off these powders as long as you own it. Sorry, but the manufacturers of these products are practicing a scam on the general public, who are trying to save a buck or two by not having the carpet professionally cleaned when it becomes dirty.

- Yes, I worked in a carpet store for 8 years and what we told customers is to have it loose laid meaning get a roll that doesn't need seaming and can go right under the molding around the walls if you don't want the carpet tacks to mess up the wood. If you're not concerned about that then just have it laid over the floors. Best wishes

- Berber is an excellent choice. Very durable and they won't be able to pull up the pile as much if at all. I have a throw rug that shows no wear after 5 years.

- you could tell them the advantages of having a carpet in your room, and you told us that you'll be the one to gather money for it so your parents might agree with that. you can always lock your room so that the dogs cannot enter or whatever, just make sure you have the key. hope you can have your carpet.

- Probably the best thing would be nail polish remover or paint thinner; but be sure and test a bit on the carpet under the couch or something first. If that won't work or damages the carpet, you might have to let it dry and scrape it off the best you can. If all else fails, you might need an area rug to just throw over the spot.

- In England we used to call them rugs, in the US - blankets. I think rugs was the term used for the old fashioned jute ones that were held in place with a wither pad and roller and then they had additional wool blankets added underneath for more warmth. If the foal is still on her mother, they shouldn't need rugs. For a horse that you are riding, you might want to get a medium weight stable blanket and a medium weight turn out for when it gets really cold. You can get foal blankets but they are really only used if the foal is sick, underweight or unable to sustain body temperature. I prefer not to use foal blankets unless there is a medical need or they are being shown.
