- Protein stains, such as urine, blood, semen, will glow with a whitish tint. I've checked a thousand carpets with a black light,in total darkness, mainly to assess the extent of urine contamination so a decision can be made to either treat the stains or tear the carpet and pad out. I have never come across black stains as you describe them. In any case, even after extensive hot water extraction cleaning, the glow will remain. In your case, whatever caused the spots you see is probably long gone from the carpet, just the residual effect remains, which is permanent.

- If you are worried put a small piece of Bacofoil (aluminium baking wrap) under the legs of chairs, tables etc. so they don't mark the carpets. Furniture often has some form of metal on the end of the legs and it could leave rust stains if the carpet is still damp.

- Hi I'd roll it up good and tight, tie it a few places so it stays really tightly rolled and then cover the ENTIRE thing in plastic --maybe 2 really large plastic bags from a mattress store or a moving store--even a rug store. OR a few tarps--tie it up again too. Once it's super duper tied up and plasticated (my word) --then you can leave it outside.

- Yes, it would look nice, and would not get as dirty looking as a cream color rug. And with the solid furniture it will add interest as well. I would add some bright colors in your accessories, just about any color you like will look good. I personally love lighter blues with brown, sage green and brown is a hot combo right now, or warm tones like red or orange would spice it up. Add your choice in pillows, throws, table decor, whatever you love.
- Q:My 4 year old cat only pees in his litter box once after the litter is changed. Then he pees on everything! From rugs, to carpet, to clothes left on the floor. We've washed every rug he's peed on, just in case it's a territorial thing, but he just won't stop.
- (I wish my cat peed on everything. He prefers to poo on things!) It sounds like the litter you're using doesn't hide his odor well enough for him. He thinks it's stinky in his litter box, and he doesn't want to go there. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but if you have the clumping litter, then try to scoop it out every time he goes, or at least more often than you're doing now. Also, sprinkle a little (or a lot, it's cheap) of baking soda before you put litter in, or just put some in now and mix it around a little. That should kill some of the odor. Good luck.
