- Q:^tacky? I kinda think so, but I dislike our brown carpet with a passion. Can't rip it out and burn it either so what's a girl to do? Area rug. What color would be good? My drapery is sheer green. Let the creativity flow.Gracias.
- I think that an area rug on top of carpet looks nice. In my living room, I have an area rug on top of my carpet and it looks good. If you have sheer green drapes, I think you should get a muted brown rug.
- Q:My cat scratches the rugs in my house to the extent that rug nap is scattered all over every morning. We have both vertical and horizontal scratching posts in which he displays no interest. I tried a product called quot;No Scratchquot; which doesn't work either. What else can I do?
- get rid of the rugs
- Q:I could always send it out to a dry cleaner or a rug specialist, but I'd rather save the money and do it at home.
- Sisal area rugs are simple to clean using mild dishwashing detergent and water. To do this, take the rug outdoors. Dip a brush in a detergent solution to clean the entire surface, and rinse with a hose. Hang the rug up to dry in the sun. But be sure it dries quickly and completely. Damp, natural fiber rugs will mildew and eventually disintegrate.
- Q:You know, 3 or 4 inches thick... perfect for in front of the fireplace or anywhere me and my lover might want to get down...I just cant seem to use the right search terms online, and I keep finding entire bear rugs..... yuck... not very romantic.

- Q:I found this carpet last year by Shaw- Kathy Ireland's Young Attitudes line it's called Grape Harvest. Where and how can I find it? It's such beautiful carpet? If anyone knows where I can buy it please share. NO SMARTASS COMMENTS SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE
- I was looking for Shaw Industries but couldn't find it - think their mill is located in Georgia. Contact a local carpet store that may be able track it down for you. How about the place you first saw it - they may have some overrun left. If it is discontinued then the Shaw may be your only hope - maybe they have an outlet somewhere.
- Q:just brought some carpet cleaning stuff, but its not working too well. How do you clean your carpets without getting in professionals?
- You can hire professional carpet cleaner. They will help you in the cleaning. I suggest you a site of carpet cleaner :
- Q:Basically, my dad washed the rug with laundry detergent. But he put it in an area to dry, where there is no sunlight. So it didn't dry all the way and ended up creating this mildew smell on it. I decided to wash it again, but this time with a solution called Fiber Cleansing, that is used to fight stains on carpets. And I vacuumed the rug with a wet/dry vacuum to get all the water out of it. I got most of it out, but still had a smell to it. So I decided to pour a box of baking soda all over it, to get the smell out of it. (What the internet told me to do) After leaving the baking soda on there for 2 days, still nothing. The rug itself is pretty dry now, still a bit damp on the underside of it. It still smells. What can I do?
- Forget the bleach and any other solutions given. Re launder the rug but this time add 1/3 cup bicarb soda and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the wash and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the rinse. Both of these will absorb the odour and the white vinegar will kill any mould/mildew. Make sure the rug is dried where there is an airflow, even if there is no sunlight, but sunlight is good. The trick is to make sure the rug dries as quickly as possible and a good airflow helps this happen Re what you did with the baking powder..... the rug needed to be dry first. As it was still damp the mildew was still growing. Sprinkling bicarb soda on a dry rug that has an odour will absorb the odour. I promise, if you follow the instructions, the above will work. that
- Q:Carpet and pad to be provided. No carpet to take up or furniture to move. About 130 yds plus set of stairs. Tack strips are needed. Concrete floor.
- I had a 14x14 room recarpeted, no carpet, concrete floor, no stairs, and the carpet, pad, and installation came to about $860. Throw in the stairs and I'd bet it'll come to about $1500. It also depends on what grade of carpet and pad you buy. I got the middle of the road quality for both carpet and pad.
- Q:Hi everyone, how do i take a plain white area rug and make a black floral design on it on parts of the rug? like on two corners and maybe a swirl or two in middle ? i know ive seen people use templates and literarly spray or paint over template to make design. then use a sealer or something i dont know :( help thank you
- I did a design on an outdoor sisal type rug and it came out really nice. I used spray paint and sealed it with polyurethane. You can get the templates at a craft store or make one yourself. There might be a problem if there is a high pile on the carpet. The design might not have clean edges. You could try one section of it on the back of the rug. Or get a carpet remanent with a pile like you have on your white carpet to try. If the design does not have clear edges you might be able to touch it up with a tiny paintbrush. I don't think a dye (like Rit Dye) would work. It would run and make a mess. I think you would have to stick to a surface treatment only-like spray paint.
- Q:my son just spilled 18 litres of paint on his bedroom carpet - I have scooped up what I can but there is obviously a massive paint puddle on the carpet - it is emulsion (non-oil based) - and suggestions?
- First, call the manufacturer of the paint. There should be a number on the can itself. They may be able to recommend a better idea than I'm about to. But I suspect they'll tell you what I'm about to say. So long as the paint is still wet, and it is water-based paint, you can clean it up with soap and water. To know if it's water based paint, look on the label. Under clean up it should say water, or soap and warm water or similar. The thing is, you don't want to soak the carpet, so don't just dump soapy water on it. Instead, get a bucket full of soapy water, and a sponge, and dip the sponge into the water, then use it to remove some paint. Repeat, getting new soapy water as needed. Actually, your son needs to be cleaning this, under your supervision. So get him going. This is going to be a lot of work, because that is a huge amount of paint. How in the world did he spill that much? Why did he even have that much open at once? His spill - he needs to do the clean up. If you have the cash, the easiest thing is to rip out the carpet and get new.
