Q: I tried steaming my carpet with a Rug Doctor, and it didn't work, so I bought a Bissell Proheat. I wanted to use up all the cleaner that I bought for the Rug Doctor before I purchase Bissell carpet shampoo for my new cleaner. The shampoo for the Rug Doctor says it's compatible with all carpet cleaning machines, but the Proheat manual says only to use the Bissell products. I'm a little confused here. Q: they are 4months old, a boy girl, fixed.they keep scratching and pulling up the edges so that its coming up in strings/scrunched threads. I've tried blocking the area with objects, and a scratching post, b4 but they just go behind it somehow or go find somewhere else to pull up the rug. i've tried to remove them from the area when they do and say things like no off..but of course being cats they dont listen to me :(how can i make them stop????????????? any help would be amazing! thanks in advance!!: I had the same problem with a 2 month old kitten and a 12 year old cat. First, every time I see them scratching the rug, I carried them over to the scratch post and gently lift up their paws and place them over it. To further encourage this, I have 2 cat treehouses - so when I'm playing with them I also deliberately scratch the posts of the treehouses, and the cats would come running (because of the noise) and incidentally scratch the posts trying to reach for my hands. I also hold up their toy mice over the posts so they keep scratching over the posts. I kept doing that and although they did still scratch the rug, they didn't do it as often. I did eventually remove the rug and they only scratch the posts now, they don't even scratch my furniture anymore. I don't know, maybe I just got lucky. I just feel so much pride now when I see them scratching the posts.

If it is carpet, attached to the floor, then cut a small piece from behind a door or inside of a closet. Use that to replace the damaged part by sewing it in. You can make a carpet needle by holding a large needle over the flame on your stove using a pair of pliers. With a second pair of pliers bend the needle into a half circle. Let it cool before touching it of course. Then just sew the piece into the damaged area. I've had to do that many a time with my puppies.

How much will it cost!: Doing a room that size , you ll need a pc of carpet at least 12x28 to cover that area because of seaming. You may need more if there is a pattern . This is done with a 1/4 turn to make the least amount of carpet and some carpets you can t do that. 12x28 is 336 s/f or 37.333 s/y. But carpet is actually sold by the s/f and not s/y. Can be advertised on a sale tag as s/y but MUST be sold per s/f. But given those numbers, it ll cost 933.33$ plus pad and installation if that isn t an installed price. Q: I have light gray carpet in my SUV I have tried several cans of stuff and nothing seems to work.Any suggestions?: Rent yourself a regular carpet cleaner from a hardware store or a rental company. Make sure the carpet cleaner comes with a furniture attachment. I recommend using Oxi-Clean and a boiling water solution in the carpet cleaner and pretreat the really dirty areas with something equal to a 409 spray cleaner/degreaser first. The problem with all those other cleaners is that there still in the dirty carpet with the dirt. The best way to clean carpet is to wash it, rinse it, then let it dry, just like you do with anything else including but not limited to yourself, your clothes, and your dishes.prespray it with a degreaser, then steam clean it with the Oxi-Clean solution, because the dirt and the cleaner is extracted when your done. It may take two times now that there is so much crud and cleaner in the carpet. Also the hotter the water the better the cleaner will work, so I would recommend boiling the water before making your solution. GOOD LUCK!! IT SHOULD TURN OUT GREAT!! This is how the detailer at our car dealership does every car.

Q: I recently spilled some glue on my carpet and in the process of getting it out I caused the carpet to stretch some and bubble up slightly. My question is whether or no the apartment complex will make me replace the whole carpet or just pay for it to be patched? It's a four person apartment in a college community where everyone is on separate leases and there is a visible seam between the living room and the hall way so i doubt I would have to replace the carpet for the whole apartment but maybe the living room. Can they charge full price for carpet if it is roughly 3-4 years old and had stains on it when I moved in? My lease states carpet repair costs between 100-200 dollars but they reserve the right to charge more. The deposit was waved when I signed the lease. I live in Kentucky if that make a difference.: their recovery is limited to the actual value, when you moved in, of the carpet that will be replaced, plus the actual cost of removing the old bit [which is pretty cheap]. thus, stained reduces the value they had, as well as age.
