- This okorder / Double sided tape may or may not hurt your rug. Usually, you'd do more damage to the floor with this than you would with the rug. Depending on what type of carpet it is, you almost always can use some dry cleaning solution such as afta to remove any residue. Otherwise, they do have these vinyl straps which may help you out a little if they're stitched onto the rug. What they sometimes do is depending on the thickness of your rug, they add weight. best of luck

- Price will tell you the quality. But in general look how thick it is. Thin carpets are usually not the best quality.

- Q: ive got 2 rugs in my kitchen i need to wash but they have a rubber back and im worried if i put them in the washier the rubber will wear off. last time i washed my fathers rugs for him the rubber started to come off in small chunks (it was also the first time they had ever been washed) and i dont want the same to happen to mine. im not worried about drying them id just lay them outside on the porch rail and let them air dry. does anyone have any suggestions? if i hand wash them will they get just as clean as if they were washed in the washer?
- You can wash them forever in the washing machine as long as you do NOT use bleach, and do NOT put them in the dryer.
- Q: I have been living in a rental home for 2yrs and notice that the carpet is old. Due to the fact that i have had it clean 1 time steam clean and 2 times rental machine and stains will not come up. Asked rental company once and they said the owner does not have enough money to replace carpet. The carpet is over 10yrs old and you can tell because the edges are coming up and the man who clean the carpet one time said they don't make that kind of carpet any more. How can i get the owner to replace the carpet.
- Send him a certified letter with return receipt - this way you know he recieved it. Let him know that the carpet is starting to come up and that you consider it a safety hazard. Ask politely if he/she can replace the carpet. Look up landlord - tenant laws in your state, there may be specifications on when carpet needs to be replaced. This may be a time limit or if certain conditions are met (ie: coming loose, excessive tears/damage, etc.) If you can find something that states he has a responsibility to replace the carpet then include that in your letter. If you can't find anything specific according to your state laws then you'll just have to keep asking politely. If he takes no action and it IS his legal responsibility then the next step would be to send him another certified letter stating that he has (specify a time limit, I would say 30 days) to replace the carpet or you will replace it and withhold the amount from your rent. Check and see if this is legal in your state - it is in most.
- Q: We have carpet in our kitchen, that's right CARPET! We want the carpet out and purchased some vinyl flooring to replace it. However we just found out that the carpet is GLUED down and therefore a much bigger project to remove it than we once thought. So, we were wondering if the vinyl can be installed on top of the carpet. Like I said the carpet is glued down and it is very low and smooth there is very little give to it when you walk on it.
- No, vinyl will stretch in the traffic area and or crack. In a short time there will be pockets or puffed up parts. remove the carpet and install lauan plywood properly nailed. Over this you need a sealer mastic for cracks and such. The vinyl will last a life time with out cracks and such. Tough pulling up the carpet, it should be pretty good under this. There are some chemicals to help with the glue. After the floor could be covered with the fake wood tiles. It uses a floating foam cover to help with any problems below. Cost less than vinyl and prep.
