Q: So does anyone know how to properly wash a rug. A living room sized rug.... 8x10... without damaging it or anything? My darling 2 y/o has spilt plenty of things on it and it's time for a washing!
Contact a professional carpet cleaner - some rug stores offer rug cleaning services, too... or, use in-home carpet cleansers with a soft brush?
Q: Has anyone ever tried using oxyclean or any other cleaner that would work good or produce the same results as with the Rug Doctor cleaners?
Problem being! Most rug cleaning machines can't handle sud's. If oxyclean sud's up it can destroy the machine. I don't know about mixing them...I have...used Downy in those machines to soften my rug and get rid of static.
Q: hi guys i just got my carpet cleaned and my son said in his room it had a strong scent, and i was wondering if this is toxic and harmful, plus straight after we got it cleaned he got out of his bed and put his hands and feet on it, i also have a parrot is this safe for her, so basiclly my question is how safe is carpet cleaning
With standard safety, it's not problem for you, your son and also your parrot. But I recommend (because I do not know the status of parrot) to open the windows and if it's cold these days, open them a little but Not Complete to have a fresh air in your house,
Q: Basically, my dad washed the rug with laundry detergent. But he put it in an area to dry, where there is no sunlight. So it didn't dry all the way and ended up creating this mildew smell on it. I decided to wash it again, but this time with a solution called Fiber Cleansing, that is used to fight stains on carpets. And I vacuumed the rug with a wet/dry vacuum to get all the water out of it. I got most of it out, but still had a smell to it. So I decided to pour a box of baking soda all over it, to get the smell out of it. (What the internet told me to do) After leaving the baking soda on there for 2 days, still nothing. The rug itself is pretty dry now, still a bit damp on the underside of it. It still smells. What can I do?
The problem is that most things that get mildew out also take out the color. Can you put it in sunlight with out it getting wet again? Maybe a diluted bleach spray on the back side for just a few minutes - if you don't think it will go through to the colored fibers?? But be careful - if you get bleach on the front you will lose the color and can't get it back.
Q: I have a tan/white colored carpet..its a normal carpet, the threads are about ? inches long. One time i used a carpet cleaner (and didnt read the directions) and sprayed the carpet and left it to soak there for a few minutes...now the carpet spot is yellow...Any way to fix the unfixable?other than getting a new carpet..
If the cleaner bleached or damaged the fiber there isn't much you can do to restore the color. However, you can fix the spot where it happened if it isn't too large. Go to a closet or pantry and cut a piece out that is large enough to cover the spot. Cut out the damaged spot carefully and use that in the closet where you removed your patch. Get heavy duty two sided carpet tape at the home improvement center and put it along all of the edges and a patch in the middle. Carefully insert the patch into the hole and slide the carpet tape under the surrounding carpet. Jump on it with your full body weight to secure the patch.
Q: Someone spilt some blue WKD on my cream carpet and I've tried carpet stain remover, white wine and an industrial carpet cleaning machine. Are there any other ways which will remove the stain?
I don't know what wkd is, but here is a way to remove most stains that can be removed. A cup of warm water with 2 drops of a liquid laundry soap, mix well. Using your fingers dampen the carpet fibers. Try not to get the back of the carpet wet. After the carpet is wet , make a big pile of white paper towels on top of the wet spot. Now put a weight on top that will not rust or bleed from the water. Maybe a cookie sheet with a brick on top. Leave it covered for 12 to 24 hours. Remove . Look at the paper towel if the stain has transferred to the paper you are on the right track. Just keep doing it until its gone. There is a chance that the wkd has removed the color from the carpet and you can not fix it. Also you may have set the stain with the wine. For your information carpet cleaners have equipment and stain removers that home owners can not buy. Calling a carpet cleaner is a lot less money than replacing the carpet. One last word , your home owners insurance company may cover the cost of replacement.
Q: We have had some wrinkles develop in our carpeting, so I think I need to have it stretched. What causes that? Time, poor installation, or both? Also, we need our carpets cleaned. Would you have them cleaned and then stretched or vice versa? Thanks!
Carpets okorder ., to locate a professional certified, and insured carpet cleaner who uses the hot water extraction process. In most cases the furniture and other household furnishings need to be removed from the room to properly stretch the carpet. Coordinate the time for this with the cleaner to come in after the carpet is stretched, perhaps all completed in the same day. This is how we do it, I'm a professional HWE carpet cleaner.
Q: I have a rug that will not stay put.I have tried the special stuff that they sell to put under rugs to help keep them from slipping. It didn't work.I have dried this special spray stuff that works kind of like the scrapbook glue that you can you can move about. It makes it like a restickable sticker. The sticky wears off quickly though.I have even tried putting felt on the back. That didn't work either. The floor I have it on it my bathroom floor. The tile in there is cheap. It is like the tile on the school floors. (I live in an apartment so I have no choice in that matter.) Part of the problem is also that my cats play tag and the rug seems to be base.Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep this rug from slipping so much?
A rubber-backed rug often works in bathrooms, especially on tile. Check in a craft or fabric store for rubber sheeting, then simply stitch it to the back of your rug - or you might want to use something like velcro to adhere it - and remove before washing.. I'm not sure if you can purchase rubber-backed rugs anymore... But - be careful trying to clean it, as most rubber will melt in a hot dryer.
Q: I would like help buying an area rug for the master bedroom. What kind of material, thread count, under rug mats? I need to know every thing. I have been looking on OKorder and see a lot of rugs that look nice for under $100. Are these rugs to good to be true? Are they really just junk or can a $100 6x8 area rug really be of good quality?
bed bath beyond duh
Q: where can i get a liyyle patch of carpet online. for cheap. 5 by 2 inches preferacly so i can cut it into theright shape.
put it back into the habitrail! now go to the carpet store and go into the back. Look for a large dumpster full of carpet peices and cut off the one thats closest to yours and get some Elmers white glue to hold it in place and put a weight on it till it's dry. no one will ever know! (unless your hampster's a snitch too!)
