- Q: there is a knocking noise coming from the water pump pulley..i think, the pulley also wiggles when its running. If that's what is wrong, how long do i have to fix it and is it hard and expensive to fix?
- No it isn't hard to fix, first loosen the little bolts on the water pump pulley, then take the belt off, then unbolt the water pump and take pulley off old pump, clean off old seal from block, put on new seal, you may have to use gasket maker or silicone, install new pump, and bolt pulley on to new pump, then reinstall belt. Oh I forgot you will have to drain the antifreeze before you start, and refill it after you are done! Start the car and let it warm up and look for leaks, if you see a leak you didn't get it sealed properly and will have to repeat the sealing process and antifreeze. Takes an hour or so to do!

- Most likely the check-valve is failing to stop flow back to the well. Replace the check valve. It's the metal cylinder just between the pump and the water pipe coming to it from the well.
- Q: Looking for a pro's advice here. My Corolla has developed a strange noise over the past few cold weeks (Highs of 10 degrees max, well below zero at night). The sound would best be described as a cricket-type rythmic chirp noticable during acceleration. I don't believe it's a belt because it comes and goes though it has steadily gotten louder. - First, you need to remove alternator belt and see if the noise disappear. then remove the AC (compressor belt) and notice if the noise disappear last , remove the power steering belt and see if the noise disappear IF NONE OF THESE STEPS HELP TO DETERMINE THE NOISE THEN YOU MAY HAVE TENSIONER TIMING BELT OR IDLER TIMING BELT OR WATER PUMP IS MAKING NOISE.

- Q: My water pump keeps getting quite hot after each use. Everything seems to be working properly, except I think that the heat may cause it to burn out and that would cause a huge problem. My pump pulls water from a ground level water tank and pushes water up three flats to the part of my house used for living quarters. The pressure setting is set to cut out at 40psi and cut in at 25psi. What can I do myself before calling in expensive experts?
- might be bearings in the motor or could need a good cleaning and reapcking with heavy lithium grease or maybe get some kind of colloing fan or raditor system to keep it cool !

- if all the bolts are out then take a rubber hammer and tap on it. it,s probably stuck on the gasket.

- its possible. i dont reccomend it, but if you do, get a couple or few gallons of just water, depending on how big your radiator is, and keep an eye on your temp gauge, if it starts going up, shut off your car, wait 5 to 10 minutes, carefully open the cap on your radiator, and put water in it untill it fills back up. i had a busted water pump i drove 20 miles on everyday for about 3 days untill i had time to fix it, it wasnt a bad leak though, and that still sucked, i would honestly just pay the small amount for a tow truck for the 5 miles.

- I have what is called a sump pump that I drain my pool with it works great. Ask a friend or relative if they might have an old one laying around. The sump pumps are generally used for pumping water out of basements when they flood but they work great in pools. I have 2, if you were near I would give you one
- Q: As a fact; I must remove the timing belt in order to remove both camshaft sprockets,then the metal timing belt cover which cover partially the water pump.My main question: Do I have to lift the engine and remove the two water pump studs- Which normally holding the right engine mounting.And where I can rent ,or buy a camshaft locking tool with low price
- You can just jack up the motor from the oil pan with a floor jack with a piece of wood instead of removing the studs, just needs to go up a inch to get the bracket and water pump off.
