- Q: i have a 1996 camaro rs v6 that needs a new water pump, the old one is leaking from a failsafe type hole.i know that im probably not gonna get one but its simply the perfect time to so if i am so... but should i consider getting an electric water pump instead of the $50 origional replacement? the car has no 'real' mods and i know the electric water pump would be a two horse difference, and that it is a mostly race type modification. so i had to ask because if i was to do this mod, now is the time. so what do you think? things like average cost of a good name like meziere , how hard to wire, etc.thanks
- Not sure where your shopping, but I could have sworn water pumps were more than that at least the ones I buy. And yes, I do not buy aftermarket parts since I do not like replacing the same part over over again every month!!!!!!! I would advise you if you do not want to replace the engine down the road for overheating, I would stick with factory water pump leave the electric pump idea alone!!!!! Last time I checked on those, they were more than $50.00 also.

- Three phase water pump motor rated power 4000W is the output shaft power, divided by the motor efficiency (general 85%) is the input power, which is often mistaken. The electric power is =4000/0.85=4706WRated current = electric power /1.732x, rated voltage x, power factor =4706/1.732x380x0.8=8.94A (assuming power factor 0.8).The above three answers are all wrong.

- I have seen this many times on 9.87.5Merc'sThere is a plastic o-ring under the power head and it is probablly melted closed.There is a way to fix it without removing the powerhead.Remove the lower unit and pull out the water pickup tube.Then use a piece of brake line 5/16th sharpen on a 45 degree angle and push up the opening for the water pickup to open the passage.This will fix your water problem.

- check the ads in a free paper like the LA weekly or SF guardian. they always seem to say when you should do it and what they charge. the water pump shouldnt be much extra (100?)since they are already doing the timing belt. call a mechanic you trust and ask them. If you do not have one then ask your friends who is good. the dealer will rip you off on price, it can easily cost double there would you rater pay someone inexperienced at the dealer $100 per hour or someone who has done it for 40 years $60 per hour and he does it faster anyways (so it costs less)(and they take pride in their work)(and they will replace other parts that need it for cheap and leave pieces that are still good because they know) The dealer might charge you for 6 hours because the book says that even if they only spend 4 doing it! a VERY rough guess would be 600+100 for water pump you do not need to replace timing belt very often. I am thinking 60,000 miles. look up in owners manual or shop manual for your car for replacement interval. good luck
- Q: I have been quoted $600 to have a a water pump placed on my 2003 saturn vue. Also, another $300 if a thermostat is also needed. I cannot afford this at this time. - Your car has only one fuel pump in the gas-tank of it's a four cylinder motor. It has only one fuel pump if the motor is a V-6. In both cases, change the fuel filter first. Have the fuel pressure checked in the fuel rail pressure fitting beside the fuel injector nozzles. No need to change the fuel pump if the pressure is at least 35 psi. No way in heck should it cost $900. to have the water-pump and thermostat replaced on your car. Pretty sure a Chevrolet dealer, who know services Saturn would charge that much! *Check out more trusted private mechanics for prices. We'd offer a glimmer of what it would cost but you forgot to tell us if the engine was a V-6 or four cylinder. Forget any kind of chain mechanical shop.

- ok before replacing have you cleaned the inside, and if there are air bubbles comming out it is because it is running dry. Basically all biocubes do this, the filter pad is slowing down the water too much, so either rince it well or replace it. Also i would wash out the blue sponge right before the pump as that can hold alot of dirt as well. Then if not add more water. But if you want to replace the pump, try via aqua water pumps. they tend to be the best. owner of the BC 29 and BC 14
- Q: I'm not talking about for a car. Just the standard water pump for you house. Ours won't click on when it's supposed to. First we had to hit the tank itself, and now we have to tap the box on top (I'm assuming some sort of fuse box as there are wires coming out of it). It's getting ridiculous and I'm just ready to buy a new one, but I'm not sure where all you can buy one.
- All you need is a new switch. It' the pressure switch that you are refering to and if you have to hit it then it is shot. About $20 - 30 at the hardware store and easy to replace. Be certain to turn off power 1st.
