Q: what is the best for a few more HP. the intakes or the slp lid with kn air fliter? what do you guys prefer. or are both about the same?
Stock unless you have a free flow exhaust and had the valves gas flowed. All after marked filters do is make noise and also they are not as good at filtering small particles out. You will get negligible power gains.
Q: just added a afe cold air intake to my bmw m3, and i cannot HEAR or FEEL a diffrence in SOUND or PERFORMANCE, as far as i know, im supposed to have a little more HP, and a little more rawranyone know anything about that??
I thought the people on the internet have learned by now that cold air intake systems are a joke. Plain and simple. Some cars usually very old cars can benefit from a new kind of intake but thoes car that can are few and far between. cold air systems only benefits are it looks cooler to some people and since they are so flimsy you can hear a air rushing noise thru the walls of the cheap tubes. The KN filters and similar are NOT good for this car. The oil thats in the filter eventually makes it way up the tube into the MAS and gunk it up can cause all sorts of drive-ability and run-ability issues.
Q: I have a 2004 spectra gs and am trying to decide whether to get one to juice a little power it its weak engine. Are they worth it? What are the price ranges? Are they easy to install? At one point in price do they really get fancy?
Under-hood temps can reach 200 degrees, a cold air intake directs cooler air from outside the engine bay to your intake system. Cold air expands more then warmer air so it make a few extra horse power. If there is one for your car it might be in the $125.00 dollar range and might take a few hours to install. Most are easy install because they follow your cars original air intake pattern but go a little further by insulating the the cool air from the engine bay heat. Most of them offer their oil soaked air filter in the kit, it needs to be used to free up air flow and has to be cleaned often. Most auto magazines have them in their aftermarket adds with web sites for your choosing. Good Luck.
Q: This for guys who have put a Cold Air Intake on a stock V6 non-supercharged and the question is, How much of a difference did you notice in acceleration after you put it on?PS: if it matters I have 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix V6 non supercharged
The best cold air intake that you can get is the factory cold air intake. Your intake all ready has duct work that gets its air from outside the engine compartment. The really funny part is that most aftermarket cold air intakes do not get there air from outside the engine compartment. They get there air from directly behind the radiator (one of the hottest places that they could possibly get air from) so they are really hot air intakes not cold. also the fancy aluminum pipe does not flow any better that a plastic pipe (it just looks better to some people). They do not give you any noticeable H.P. gains what so ever. Look at it this way if you completely remove the air filter and all the duct work going to it you may gain 2 or 3 horse power so how is putting a shinny pipe on it going to make it flow better than a completely unrestricted flow. does not make sense huh. All they do is cost you a bunch of money look shiny and make you car sound like it has a vacuum leak. So unless you just have to have that shiny metal pipe leave the air intake alone you will be sadly disappointed. Just run a good paper Wix filter it works just as good if not better as anything else.
Q: What are the main components of the engine inlet and exhaust systems?
In addition to the main upstairs, including: the valve valve spring valve lock camshaft tappet valve stem throttle arm rocker shaft ...
Q: I really want a cold air intake for my 97 Cavalier mainly because I‘ve heard it improved gas mileage - and with paying $50.00 a fill up Im willing to try anything to make it last longer. Is it a worthwhile investment? I found them on ebay for like $16.00 plus S/H - should I get it? what benefits will I get? any cons???
It allows a denser air flow into your intake, this will increase both horsepower fuel efficiemcy. How it does this is by pulling cooler air from outside the engine compartment, there by increasing the air desity ( cooler air is denser than warmer air). This allows for a cleaner and more effiecient burn of the fuel. This in effect allows the car to run a bit further on the a gallon of gas. It won't make a monumental difference in fuel mileage but, it will make some.
Q: I have a 1999 F150 with the 4.6 i want to put a cold air intake on but do i need a custom tune before i do so? if i dont get the custom tune and still put the cold air intake on will it cause my engine to run rich or lean?
I'm not aware of any need to get a specific tune for a cold air intake. Since the nature of AIR can be COLD or WARM - even HOT, I'm sure the computer will figure all that out on its own. Your intake should consist of a MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) which measures the amount of air the engine is ingesting. Based on that information the computer will set the amount of fuel injected into the engine. As the engine burns the fuel / air mixture, some unburnt oxygen will go out the exhaust. The O2 sensor measures the amount of unburnt oxygen and makes further refinements to the fuel / air mixture to optimize fuel economy AND pollution control. So I don't think your engine will run Rich OR Lean. Should be business as usual. Good luck. :)
Q: Is a $50 cold air intake good enough?
Dennis is right, its a waste of time and money if you want to get more HP out of your car put a small turbo or super on it you'll gain about 15x what you'd gain with this POS i've proven this time and time again, 1994 Camaro and a 1999 Camaro who'd you think would win? one has 12lb of boost the other a performance chip, cold air intake and a bunch of other useless crap on it but no turbo. i blew the crap out of that car and mine was the 94 won by a mile.
Q: What is the difference between the car intake system and the intake manifold cleaning?
Intake manifold is part of the intake system; what is the difference, look at what you want to know about that, the price of working hours after cleaning effect, and so much more search
Q: I heard that when you shutdown the engine cold air is still there and its harms the engine .So does this true ?
If it is in an auction thats why the prices vary. People keep bidding until the auction ends. Just read the details on whatever you bid on really carefully. You can also ask seller questions but sometimes it takes a while to get a response from them.
