Q:Hello, Im currrently in Aghanistan talking with some buddies on mods that we want to do on our vehicles upon our return. Now what i want to do in particular is put a CAI on my 99 Tahoe along with a throttle body spacer. I already have the Flwmstr cat back with a KN filter set up; now my question is will I get a lil more mpg‘s with those few additions? Im not necessarily interested in power, although I do tow every now and again. im also easy on the pedal as well, so help me out gear heads, will that be a good invstmnt and will i be looking at a slight increase in mpg‘s? Thnx
This Site Might Help You. RE: Cheap cold air intake for Chevy Vortec? Hello, Im currrently in Aghanistan talking with some buddies on mods that we want to do on our vehicles upon our return. Now what i want to do in particular is put a CAI on my 99 Tahoe along with a throttle body spacer. I already have the Flwmstr cat back with a KN filter set up; now my question.
Q:i have a 2010 lancer 2.4 liter gts and im in the market for an air intake. so my question is should i use a short ram or a cold air intake system in my car
Get short ram if you want to keep it safe and mostly drive in rainy weather, and flooded areas. Get true cold air intake for more performance. True cold air systems usually suck in air from underneath/or side of the car, while short ram air intakes are simply located below your hood where your airbox used to be. Short air intakes will give you less hp, and they heat up more especially if the intake pipes used are metallic and not plastic. Cold air intakes are better performing and usually use a better air-filter/cone in order to suck in air. More colder/denser air more performance. My suggestion is: Get a good true Cold air system, or otherwise all you will gain will me a bit of an intake sound and hp (not very noticeable).
Q:Installed a new cold air intake on my 2000, 2.4 Mitsubishi Eclipse(manuel) a few weeks ago. I reset the ecu, but after over 100 miles of driving it still can not idle at a steady rpm, it only has good acceleration/power sometimes, and it lurches a lot while driving. There are no leaks now and seeing as there were no problems before i installed it, I thought for sure that after this much driving it would be adjusted and running great. However, it has not shown much improvement. i have no good idea what is going on and am desperate to know what the problem is and how i can fix it. If anyone has the answer or even an idea please let me know, thanks.
unfortunately for the most part cold air intakes are crap, they seldom live up to manufacturers claims, and worse, can cause damage to your engine. Your car had a factory cold air intake already, engineered to work correctly with your engine and ecu. This question is now a daily occurrence, and sadly many stories such as yours have the same outcome, a plastic sewer pipe with an air filter stuck to it, has done nothing, except cause possible damage to your engine. Take this junk off your car, and toss it, I hope you kept the original air filter and factory air cleaner intake. And please next time, don't drive for two weeks that thing should have been off your car, 20 minutes after you put it on. Always check with your mechanic, I found some information about cold air intakes and after looking at the information, called my mechanic, and he said DO NOT SCREW UP A PERFECTLY GOOD RUNNING CAR. my second question about power chips had the same answer, so remember this too please, NO POWER CHIPS!!!. YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR VEHICLE BACK TO STOCK CONDITION and hope and pray that there is no internal damage. The computer can lean out your mix, and if this happens you can burn up the motor easily. good luck, let us know if you were able to save your motor, we like those stories.
Q:i drive a 2000 ford crown victoria and it has 666,450 miles, yes actual miles w/ orig engine, trans etc and it still runs strong even prolly better than a car with 100 k miles lt;knock on woodgt; haha, well any ways i was thinking about adding a cold air intake to it, and was wondering if this improves the sound of the car and if it helps with gas mileage or worsens it and around how much this costs or if its even worth it and wheres best place to get it.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by cold air intake. Everybody who knows anything about performance understands that the colder the intake charge, the more oxygen gets into the combustion chamber (colddensemore O2 molecules per square inch). That's why an intercooler is the hot ticket when using a turbo or supercharger. And as far as I know that's the only way to get colder air into the intake. First you run the incoming air through a turbo or a supercharger which compresses the air which results in higher air temperature, then you route it to the intercooler which takes the hyper thermic air and knocks a few degrees off of it. When the air goes through the throttle body or carburetor butterfly valve, the release of this pressurized cooled air creates an instantaneous hyper-cooling just before the air enters the intake port/valve. Cost? I dunno, you'd probably pay a couple grand for the hardware and another grand to have it installed. But beware. When you start messing with perfection you often get unexpected results. The additional O2 is going to give you a helluva lot more pop. You'd be surprised what a little oxygen does for combustion! You may find that 666,450 mile old lower end of yours starting to knock on you. It's got an established wear pattern from doing what it's been doing, and now you're asking it to do something that imposes greater forces on all the parts that go up and down and round and round. By the way, you're my new hero. I've never heard of anybody ever getting 666,450 miles on a gasoline engine. That's way beyond anything I've ever heard of. I take meticulous care of my '66 Chevy and only have 250 miles on the current engine, which is more than I ever got on anything I've ever owned.
Q:Car intake system leak, the car is running at all? Or idling high?
The normal engine speed is controlled by the intake air through the throttle replica, the more the intake air, the higher the speed (fuel injection is calculated by the intake air), if the air without throttle (exposed) Throttle replica can not control the intake volume. So idling will be high.
Q:i just bought a 2011 CR-Z Mugen, and i was wondering if it will help my performance and mileage if i install a AEM Cold Air Induction System. Im already getting about 29.4 MPG. If i do install it my warranty wont be void unless honda can prove without a reasonable doubt that the intake was the cause to any problem that occurs right? So do you guy think its worth putting a Cold Air Intake in this car?
I agree you should take an MSF course. Your helmet probably just doesn't resist wind as well as something a bit more expensive. If you're uncomfortable, just tuck in under the wind screen more.
Q:I have a Dodge Charger i been thinking of putting a Air Intake on my car but im not sure if the warranty will get cancel any of you guys how the warranty on cars work
No, your warranty will not be void just by installing a cold air intake. Now if your intake has caused a issue with your vehicle then the manufacturer can choose not to honor the warranty if the intake was determined to have caused the problem. Say for example you sucked water into your engine because of the cold air intake system and you hydrolock the engine. They will most likely not replace your engine in this case. Now say your ac pump goes out, they cannot deny warranty because of the cold air intake, as it has nothing to do with the ac system.
Q:whats a good cold air intake for a Dodge Ram 2008 at a reasonable price? But it‘s not a cheap one as in quality of the pipe And the air filter
From eternity to eternity.
Q:AEM cold air intake for a 2002 4 door chevy cavleier ls 2.2 l v4
Toss it in the trash. The intake you just spent several hundred dollars on, if you purchased it, will net you basically no gains whatsoever. This has been dyno proven thousands of times. At best, maybe 3-5 horsepower. Which will neither be noticeable to you, nor will it change your 1/4 mile time in the slightest. Over most of your powerband, 1-2 horsepower. You can get the same gain by getting your oil changed. But if you must install it, and are content with wasting your money, there should be only a few bolts to disconnect your old intake. Install the new one by doing the reverse of the removal. Pretty simple. Takes less than a minute.
Q:Im thinking about buying the AEM V2 Cold Air Intake for a 2009 Honda Civic Si. It gets a pretty big amount of rain here but it never really floods. Should I go with the CAI or a Short Ram intake?
Don't fry it in a pan with oil. If indoors, read up on how to use your oven's broiler. Or get an indoor grill. Better yet grill the steak outdoors over a wood or charcoal fire (Weber grill). Select a good cut of meat with thin white lines running through out (marbeling). NY Strip - firm, good beef flavor Ribeye - medium, usually very well marbeled T-bone - one side firm, one side medium, bigger cut of beef Sirloin - look for good marbeling, good tasting cut for less money Filet - soft, lacks flavor because of very little marbeling, usually wrapped with bacon to add flavor and aid in cooking Let steak sit out for 15-20 minutes to come to room temperature. Salt and pepper both sides. Substitute garlic salt for salt. Cook steak on hot fire. Turn steak a 1/4 turn for restaurant style grill marks. Or let steak cook on one side. Flip steak using tongs (not fork). You can tell the doneness of a steak by pushing on it with a finger. The firmer the steak is the more done it is. After you remove the steak from fire, let it rest. The steak will re-absorb the juices. After resting, cut into steak and enjoy. No sauces should be needed. No marinating unless you don't like the taste of beef. Add side items such as corn on the cob, asparagus, broccoli, corn, salad, Caesar salad, baked potato, hash browns, french fries, steak fries, mashed potatoes, cheesy scalloped potatoes, etc. Don't be afraid to pair your steak with beer, wine, water. If you consume all of the side items, you didn't make enough steak.
