Q:I have a 1977 Buick Riviera. The muffler and part of the cat back pipe have rotted through and fallen off. I know I can go to a muffler shop and have an exhaust custom built, but I really don‘t want to spend a lot of money since I don‘t have it. Do I have any other options?

O.E.M. replacement mufflers from your local parts store are not as expensive as you might think (replaced the muffler on my '87 Ranger for around $20). And a new tail pipe shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg at a muffler shop either. The problem with getting a used exhaust system from a junk yard is that you really don't know how long they will last.

When you lean into THAT corner ( when you realize your going too fast, and it's too late), focus on the inside of the corner, DON'T look outside, if you look outside you go outside-----your in the corner scared sh**less, you think your going too fast_ACCELERATE_

Q:Ok, so here‘s the deal. I‘m installing a new muffler on my car.The pipe leading to the muffler is 2 1/4 in diameter, or at least a little bit smaller. So do I need a 2 1/4 muffler inlet to fit on it? Or 2 1/2?Same for the exhaust tip, does the exhaust need to be 2 1/4 on a 2 1/4 muffler, or bigger?Answers for weld on and clamp on are appreciated.

The inlet should be 2 1/2 same on the tips. I would weld the exhaust in place if you have one.

Q:ok i have a 2005 nissan xterra and i am wondering how i can install a glass pack. i realize that there are o2 sensors installed and i am wondering if installing glasspacks will affect the glass packs please give me lots of info im a noob lol

Actually there are plenty of good mechanics willing to talk about preformance Exhaust. Most cat converter back systems by Borla, Banks, Greedy, Stillen Or flow master will not effect the cars emissions or O2 sensors in any way. I have to caution you just hacking and welding in a glas pack will make the truck noiser but not make much in the way of power. I suggest you start pricing a really good mandrel bent stainless steel life time warranty exhaust system. Also V-6 motors really make weird noises at different RPM's Only the really good systems will have the deep exhaust tone. And not sound like a weed eater or your friend's Honda.

You will have to convert to a dual exhaust, w/2 cats. Not cheap.

Q:part by part what happens to the car as you remove the entire exhaust system? does it raise torque and or horsepower? does it drop them? raise one lower the other? do nothing at all but make the engine noisy or more pollutant? What exactly does the exhaust do other than keep air clean? is a tighter exhaust better by creating more back pressure?

the engine will suck cold air into the engine and warp valves immediately. Plus it will be loud. I ran a race car(86 Honda Prelude)on a half mile circle track and found that you need to run the exhaust at least half the length of the car to keep or even increase horsepower without engine damage.

you cannot melt down 14k and 10k and mix them and come up with 24k doesn't work that wayyou'd melt the 14k and take out all the alloys in it.keep the gold. then melt down the 10k and get the alloys out of it. put those bits of gold, too. those and the other ones from the 14k are now 24k, but considerable less of it than you started with

That's a difficult question to answer. Exhausts are made of durable materials, so it depends on what external conditions they're exposed to.
