Q: What is a CAT-BACK exhaust system?
That's a term used when you replace the exhaust system from the catalytic converter all the way back to the tailpipe, but not the cat itself. This would include the muffler and tailpipe, contrary to one of the answers below.
Q: I have a 2000 Eclipse GT with the V6 3.0L automatic with the kick over.I wanted to put some new headers and a new exhaust system on my car. I was wondering what would be the best parts for me, and if there are any other bolt ons to add some horsepower. THANKS for the infoAlso if I can get your email to ask you bout someother stuff id like to do
that car is a 07, it still should have a warranty on it. dont fool with it, or you could void the warranty. take it back to where you bought it and let them worry about it, it will be payed for.
Q: Also what exhaust part should you buy to get a nice aggressive sound and improve horsepower.
Starting at the head(s). Exhaust manifold gasket, exhaust manifold, clamps (or welded), 02 sensor, pre converter, catalytic converter, 02 sensor (some cases) pipe, pre muffler baffle (some cases) muffler tail pipe, finisher. Misc hangers throughout. Usually just a muffler will do it to get a different sound. Some people do a cat back system which is piping and muffler(s) and sometimes a connecting pipe from one side to the other in dual exhaust systems. (sometimes called a crossover or X pipe)
Q: I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0L, the car was just purchased 2 weeks ago, and before that had stored winters and no rainy days so needless to say, the underside of the car is remarkably rust-free and clean. But being it was stored, the header pipe ended up coming apart at the steel mesh area. It is going to cost 175.99 plus installation for the new header pipe, or I can spend an extra 80 and buy a full Catback Exhaust System for it. Is this worth it? Or should I just buy the header pipe by itself? Keep in mind that I don‘t want to have to spend a ton of money on installation whether it be by me or a garage.
I'd get the catback.one less thing to go wrong later.
Q: I‘m considering a Banks Monster catback exhaust. Please tell me if I‘m going with the best product. Sound, power, looks, and longevity are all important factors.
the original stock exhaust is the best PLEASE don't have some dumb mechanic chop off and cut off the stock, welded, stainless steel exhaust and install a cheap, clamp on pipe that's going to rust out and fall off in less than a year! please! don't do it! the original stainless steel exhaust with the welded seams is designed to last the life of the truck!
Q: How does changing the exhaust system in a car give you more power?
Long story short, it doesn't. Change it because it'll sound great, not for the 4 or 5 ponies you might free up. New exhaust systems allow exhaust gases to get out of the cylinder faster and more completely. That means there's less pressure on the piston's upstroke and that means less energy is wasted expelling exhaust fumes. Further, it means there are less exhaust fumes in the chamber when the next firing sequence takes place. That allows more fresh air (oxygen) to be in the fuel air mixture, providing a slightly more powerful explosion when the spark plug fires. To get these benefits you at least have to replace the catalytic converter and better yet, replace the headers. A new muffler doesn't do anything but sound different. Breathing easier and pulling air in through the intake are really more associated with two stroke engines. In a four stroke the intake valves are closed nearly the entire time the exhaust valves are open.
Q: I have a 2006 Dodge Stratus V6 2.7l. I was looking into exhaust systems, which I know nothing about. My question is since my stock exhaust system is still in good shape, should I just look into an aftermarket muffler? And if I do so, do I need to buy a tip as well? Thank you all in advance.
Just buy a muffler, you don't need a tip or anything else since your stock exhaust system is in good shape.
Q: Ipre exhaust is what? Is the sound simple?
Ipe exhaust, Ipe full name Innotech Performance Exhaust, Ipe exhaust system was founded in Taiwan, China, is a focus on high-performance sports car exhaust system brand factory, the initial development of OEM-based, many well-known international brands for OEM, After years of continuous development, the official opening of IPE brand, self-developed variable sound exhaust system.
Q: What are the best cold air intake and exhaust system for 2009 sti? anyone?
If you don't modify the engine then the stock intake and exhaust is best. If you don't replace the cam, port and polish the heads, and put on a new intake manifold, cold air intakes and larger exhaust systems do next to nothing other than look cool, make noise, and drain your wallet.
Q: i want to get a dual exhaust system on a firebird im going to buy but am seeing that in california a magnaflow x pipe won‘t pass smog? that was all from like 2006 forums though. has this changed? can i get a mangaflow xpipe and will it pass?
Punch a hole in the muffler.
