Q:so i guess a muffler is just part of the whole thing what are all the parts then, what exactly does the muffler do just change the sound.so my gt;? is if i change the muffler it‘ll just change the sound right? ok so what brand makes quiet fuel efficient systems? (thanks for all the answers)
the muffler goes all the way from the engine to the can at the back. first you have the headers, or exhaust manifold then this is usually bolted to a cat. or catylitic converter and then a streight pipe back to the can. and yes changin any of these parts will change the sound. the bigger the more power more flow more power and more fuel consumption. pretyy much the smaller the hole the less fuel and the quieter. as far as brand just type it into OKorder. with your car and the keyword EOM. which means stock part. good luck
Q:About how much would it cost to install a complete magnaflow exhaust system on my 2006 Mazda3 2.0at a mmuffler shop
around $180 as it takes them 1.5-2 hours to remove the old exhaust and install the new exhaust. If you have a jack and some basic tools you could certainly do it yourself.though removing the old exhaust will be the most difficult part if it is stuck together you might have to pull it off as a single piece.
Q:I currently have flowmaster dual exhaust on my 2004 v6 mustang, its nothing special, but you can here a little bit of a difference from the stock version. I definitely want to upgrade with louder ones, and I‘ve been researching. I‘m mostly seeing this:mac longtubesx or h pipe?flowmaster 40 seriesis this a good combo? just not sure what is the best to geti don‘t know anything about exhaust systems. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
Its not easy getting good sound out of a V-6 with out big bucks. You can do anything you like after the cats. X pipe or H pipe do the same thing (create a balance between the exhaust manifolds) but a true dual exhaust would cost you plenty in plumbing work under the car. Unless you opened up the intake and swapped out the stock exhaust manifold for headers you won't be getting anymore sound from the tail pipes. There isn't much exhaust note from the 3.8 V-6 unless you go with straight pipe after the cats. The cats are your biggest power and sound blockers.
Q:I have 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, Im wanting to get a nice new exhaust that sounds as close to a V8 as possible. This truck has a 4.0L V6 in it. I prefer to have a dual exhaust. I was considering MagnaFlow, Gibson, or Heartthrob, but I‘m not sure which would be better. Help? Any and all knowledge.
The problem with questions like this is that 'sound like a V-8' is so subjective. I have two V-8 Fords now, so what I want them to sound like is probably totally different then what you consider a V-8 sound. I've run FlowMasters on my Mustang, that's what's on it now, and it sounds sweet to me. Suggestion - Since it's a 'personal' question, how about going to a car show keeping your ears open. Listen to the cars come go, ask what type of systems a couple of the nicer sounding ( to you ) have.
Q:I have a hole in the top of my muffler and a hole in my resonator as well (rusted out). I can‘t find a cat-back system, so I‘m forced to buy everything a la carte. I have worked on my car a lot under the hood but have never worked on the exhaust system. My question is what the difference between a flange and a clamp is? Don‘t they serve the same purpose?

Q:This guy has awsome exhaust system?
Are you kidding me? We used to make these. It isn't hard. The issue is in dealing with the holes CUT INTO THE BED.which isn't always something that we like to have happen. The other issue is the fact that the bed MOVES in relation to the frame where the exhaust is typically attached to.so you have to make a choice and put and adapter or device that has some give to it. Any decent exhaust shop can do it. I would recommend a ROLL bar for a mudder.
Q:^ covers it
Buy American you fag. Go move to China.
Q:I‘m lookin to get a new exhaust system for my 1996 honda civic ex coupe that doesnt sound like a fart cannon and adds a bit of horsepower, any suggestions?
there are no exhausts you can add that won't make it sound like a fart cannon and add horsepower at the same time. i tried to do the same thing by adding an exhaust on my 99 accord ex and it sounded gay and i didnt feel any difference in power. i would recoment leaving the exhaust stock and adding a turbo or you can also reduce the weight of your car by taking unneeded things off such as the spare tire, jack, ect. Lightening up your car will not only make it faster but also help it handle better all without making it sound ricey!
Q:Will this exhaust system fit my mustang?
Nope, the v8 and v6 have different diameter exhausts, so unless you bought some fittment pieces you'd be in trouble. You'd also have to find hangers because the single exhaust on your six is one side shy of the v8 Your better off picking up a Mustang magazine and looking for the v6 specific exhaust setups.
Q:New to the car mods. I have a 2006 nissan altima. Should I buy just a muffler or a whole new exhaust system?
It all depends on what you are looking for. If you just want sound then a muffler will do this in most cases. If you are looking for performance and sound then a full exhaust is the way to go. With a cat-back exhaust you will be getting a system that has been dyno proven to provide an increase, well known brands at least, bandrel bent piping, and a muffler that is designed to sound better without being to raspy. Currently most oem systems are designed to keep the car quiet and not for performance to appeal to a greater audience. Most muffler shops around here would charge about $150 - $200 for a muffler and to weld it in, and most cat-back systems are bolt up but vary largely in price. The previous post mentioned a chip. Unfortunately, a chip is typically just a resistor that will not give you any real gains. Check OKorder and you will find them for a couple dollars on up. Note that there is a difference between a chip and a programmer or a tune. A programmer will actually altering your vehicle's settings to improve performance. Like I mentioned before it depends on what your are looking for. I personally will always upgrade my exhaust and intake on any car.
