Q:this is for my 1999 dodge dakota. im also getting a KN cold air intake and flowtech headers to go with the new exhaust so which would be better, the system or just the muffler?
i obtained a 89 supra rapid had the historical inventory exhaust ripped off and threw on four inch catback hello float exahustshould you simply desire the sound long past do just the mufffler, you more commonly obtained a well satisfactory exhaust so dont take all of it off.
Q:headers,resonator,cat,muffler?
The exhaust manifold, since that is the first thing the exhaust gases pass through when going through the exhaust system. You can have a 3 inch exhaust and 1.5in. headers and it won't do you a bit of good. Start at the engine and work your way down.
Q:I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0L, the car was just purchased 2 weeks ago, and before that had stored winters and no rainy days so needless to say, the underside of the car is remarkably rust-free and clean. But being it was stored, the header pipe ended up coming apart at the steel mesh area. It is going to cost 175.99 plus installation for the new header pipe, or I can spend an extra 80 and buy a full Catback Exhaust System for it. Is this worth it? Or should I just buy the header pipe by itself? Keep in mind that I don‘t want to have to spend a ton of money on installation whether it be by me or a garage.
knee deep is correct in that it a cat back is truly from the catalytic converter to the tail pipe You said turbos as in 2 on your car WOW The whole spill with the X pipe is if you have a true dual exhaust up front on a V8 and two completely independent exhaust pipes that don't share any flow up to the the point of the X-pipe. It's design is to then assist with back pressure and flow at the same time. If your car is turbo charged, I'd let the turbo deal with the back pressure and make my exhaust a free flowing as possible to cut down on turbo lag. If your exhaust is restrictive it slows the flow and delays the spool up of the turbo. But let a engineer at some exhaust company determine whats best for you. Call around to several companies and you'll get a good idea on what you need
Q:Has anybody been pulled voer for this. what are the specifics of illegal pipes and legal ones. I am intrested in buying one for my 91 storm to add a low exhaust tone.
Exhaust system restrictions are found in Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Division 12 of the California Vehicle Code. I have been pulled over for CVC § 27151(a), but it was only a verbal warning. */End of Line.
Q:I own a 1995 Chevy Corsica, the car needs a new exhaust, the current one has a leak and the exhaust mounts are broken so it knocks on the bottom of the car is is really loud in a bad way. I want to replace it but I don‘t know the cheapest route to go. I have heard that performance exhausts are cheaper, is this true? Or are oem exhausts cheaper? I would like to go the cheaper route and if that means that i can get a cool performance sound for cheaper than thats what i want to do. but if oem is cheaper i am perfectly fine with a quiet clean sounding exhaust. Thanks for your response.
Truth is it can all go either way. Some performance systems can be less expensive than OEM and some more expansive than OEM. You need to call the parts stores and price the different systems and go from there. Good luck.
Q:okay, so i have a ‘07 Silverado with the Vortec Max package, 6.0 Litre. I‘ve done a little modification since then by adding a kn intake, light bar, HID‘s, and neons. I want to add a little more horses to it by installing a cat-back exhaust system on it. But i dont want to spend a lot of money on a piece of ****, i was wondering what is a very good brand i should get that will make a good loud noise and wont have me regretting buying it.
try a locally owned muffler shop for the cat back, with Flowmaster Delta-Flow 50
Q:Today it started making a loud lawn mower type sound. I asked a friend he said my exhaust manifold was cracked. Im sure its omething exhaust system related because i can smell the fumes from the car are pretty strong. I havnt hit or run over anything in the road. The only thing i can think of is from driving my car pretty hard the past few weeks. Im always running late to work.2008 Chevy cobalt LT 2.2 engine i think, 106000 miles on it
pretty much, exactly the same, clutch is a clutch.
Q:Hi i have a 1991 lincoln towncar and it rides so smooth but i would like it to be a little louder but i dont want to waist more gas so is an exhaust system guna make it waist more gas?Is there a type of exhaust that doesnt waist more gas but is really loud?
Any change to the exhaust to make it louder via a different muffler would not affect your MPG, or at least to any noticeable degree. A better breathing exhaust will help your engine run a bit better, and therefore use a bit more gas, but the fact that it is a 1991 Lincoln, the engine is likely pretty dirty, and that will hurt your MPG more than any muffler.
Q:So I have a 1998 chevy silverado 5.7 4wdI want to get dual exhaust system on itI want a low deep growl but not screaming where it is annoying. I have heard people say do a catback on it. I don‘t really know how a catback works like is it just a new cat and piped straight back or is it a new cat and new muffler obviously aftermarket that I should do. I need some suggestions
This Site Might Help You. RE: What does the expression wet blanket mean? thanks!
Q:Is this a do it yourself job? I‘m not totally new to cars but I‘ve never worked with exhaust.
Adding an exhaust system can be a do it yourself job. If you want to ensure its done well you can always take it to a mechanic. If you do it yourself you need to get a new muffler first and foremost. . Along with the appropriate sized exhaust clamps. I had installed a deep exhaust system on my Jeep 2 years ago and had it professionally done.
