Q: I understand that the maximum psi located on the tire is not where you want to inflate it to and that the optimum tire pressure is located in the manual. My problem is that in my 1999 Honda Accord manual it says that the tires that should be on my car is the 89H and they should be inflated to 30 psi, but the tires I have on my car are 91H. Is my optimum tire pressure supposed to be 30 psi even though the tires are not what they are supposed to be, and if it isn‘t, then how do I find out what the correct tire pressure should be?
This is because the tires originally fitted to your vehicle were built to the Passenger Metric sizing standard and are P195/65R15 89H while the replacement tires you have now were built to European Metric sizing standards (size 195/65R15 91H). Notice no P at the beginning of the size description and the different load index of 91 instead of 89. Dimensionally these tires are identical and interchangable but the way the load capacity (how much weight they can support) is figured is slightly different. At 30 psi for example the load capacity of the P195/65R15 89H is 1,190 pounds while for the 195/65R15 91H it is 1,179 pounds. This 11 pound difference in this case is not enough to get excited about so you can use the same inflation pressure without worry. Good question and a sharp eye. Most people would not have noticed the difference. ***EDIT*** Your welcome and I mean it. Very few people would have seen that difference and had enough sense to ask. It was an excellent question.
Q: Is there some kind of code on the tire?
the date the tire was made is printed on the sidewall.
Q: I have a tire where the sides are cracked though the treat is near perfect. It‘s on a car we only drive on occasion.
Sounds like your tires are weather cracked. The tires have a DOT number on them, that number is on both sides of the tire and on one side it has 4 numbers on the end of the DOT that indicate the week and year the tire was made. EX, 2409 would mean the tire was made the 24th week of 2009. All tire manufactures recommend replacing tires that are 7 years old or older. Even if your tires are not that old they can weather crack. For the most part they are only surface cracks and not critical but if they sit long enough the cracks can be worse. You have no recourse with the tire manufacture. Sorry.
Q: How to prevent car tire puncture?
Hello there. This regular inspection of the car tires. Regular inspection of the car tire pressure can reduce the puncture machine filter
Q: I need to buy tires for my car, but this is the first time I am buying tires. I have offers from Sullivan Tires and Town fair tires. Sullivan tires is offering me YOKOHAMA AVID TRZ for $70.87 (with 13.99 for balancing and $60 for alignment) while The Town fair tire is offering me BRIDGESTONE INSIGNIA SE200 for $72.00/tire (with 12.95 for balancing and front alignment INCLUDED). Which TIRE / DEAL should I go for? I will really appreciate any suggestions since I am completely new with this tire buying thing.
Out of the 2, I would go with the Yokohamas: they have better stats, warranty, and are good all season tires. Look at your driving conditions before deciding, there are other tires that may fit your needs better for the same price. I had some yokos before, a different type though, and they wore well, and lasted quite a while. I have Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred tires now and they are amazing in all conditions, but a bit more expensive $125. Balancing is rarely included in the price. An alignment is not necessary when replacing tires unless there are signs of uneven wear due to the alignment. There is a certain type of wear associated with alignment issues, and another for the tires not being rotated. Google 'tire wear patterns' to see what issue you may have, to ensure you are not being taken advantage of, research is the best way to be well informed. However, if you do need an alignment--because the vehicle is wearing tires non-uniformly, or the vehicle drifts to the side when you let go of the steering wheel, etc., then get one so you do not eat through your tires. If they don't last as long as they should, they may not honor the warranty the tire due to operator error.
Q: I bought a bike yesterday a hybrid bike with 700c wheels. I bought a bike pump, and when i got it home I checked the psi on the tire it said to inflate to 50-75 psi. I checked the bike tires, they were only at 20 psi, and they seemed inflated enough to me. So I inflated it to 40 psi, took forever and It seems like it‘s too much and I‘m scared the tire will burst. I tried another gauge because I thought it was broken but it was the same. The tire is real hard to the touch and like I said I‘m scared it will burst. Is this normal?
If it says 50 to 75 psi, then it MEANS 50 to 75 psi. I'd pump them up close to the max. Hell.my road bike tires can go up to 120 psi. NO.they will not burst!!!
Q: I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass. We have replaced some of the tires, while others are original. The door panel says that the tire pressure should be 26/29 for front/back, but the tires look really deflated at that rate. Does the pressure recommendation increase as cars tires age? All of the tires have a maximum pressure of about 35-40.
stick with what the door calls for, the tires recommendation is for a maximum load. you will have a smoother ride and longer life if you stick with the 26 29.
Q: ok so i purchased 16 inch Rota Slipstreams (blk). I only got the wheels, now i need tires. can i go to a regular tire facility? is it gonna be expensive? What size tires do i need?
u need the same inch tyre so u can fix itat tyre there got ritefor exaple 185/60/r14.the r 14 is the rim sizeu need the same 16 inch tyre to fix it correctly.
Q: Why some of tire need nitrogen?some are not?
Aircraft use nitrogen because it is inert and does not expand the tires in the wheel wells at extreme altitudes. Nitrogen does not expand at high temperatures and is used in race cars to maintain an even tire pressure. It is also comprised of larger atoms than plain air and is less prone to leak through rubber tires. For everyday road use nitrogen is a waste of money. There is no benefit to be derived from putting Nitrogen in a street tire unless you regularly drive at 150 MPH or faster.
Q: Are continental tires any good? They sell them at wal-Mart.for my truck they have goodyear and continental.
Both are fine products and with proper care should give you good service.
