Q: can I use 2 different size tires on my car
No, it is not save to drive on different sized tires. The only exception would be if your vehicle came stock with staggered tire sizes front and rear. Otherwise, it is simply too dangerous to consider. Don't risk it.
Q: My cars manual states to have 32 PSI all around, however my mechanic said it should be around 40 PSI based on the tires that I have. They‘re performance seasonal tires. I was surprised to hear this so I kept them at 32 but what like to know if anyone else has heard of this or can offer an opinion. Thanks.
I'm afraid your machanis is right tire pressure changes according to tire size but If you put a tire on a 3000 pound auto you would not use the same tire pressure as putting them on a 4000 pound auto. So here what your gonna do You start with your 32 PSI and drive your car the go up to say 35 and test your car keep on going up until your car car feeling like your riding and then bumps on the road fill like there under yourseat. that tell you that your tires and too full the start letting air out and test drive when you feel your car has a smooth but stable ride that where your tire pressure should be if your in dought let someone who know about car do the test for you. It's just common sense. since changine tire size and height will affect cars in differen't ways I suggest you stick to the factory tire and if at all possible the brand name recommend for that vehicle. That way you can't use tire pressure recommended by the vehicle manual.
Q: I just got back from wal-mart and the cheapest price for the tire i needed was $100.00 a tire. While in there waiting and talking to some people, other‘s were paying 300.00 for just 2 tires. Is the price of tires going up because of this oil spill?
Tire prices are going up because of the high cost of raw materials, particularly steel, the 80% import tarrif on tires produced in China, high transportation costs and the fact that tires are much larger and are built to higher speed ratings today than they were even 10 years ago. A decade ago 80% of tires sold were 13, 14 or 15 diameter. Today no new cars are sold with 13 tires, 14 is virtually non-existant and 15 is considered entry level. Today's sub $20k economy car often comes with a low-profile 17 or 18 high performance tire where a decade ago the same model would have had a 14 standard passenger all-season tire. The price difference between those is more than double.
Q: Do wheels/tires need to be on my car to have them balanced? Or can I just take the wheels separate from the tires to the shop and have them mount and balance them?
I'm pretty sure when we had our tyres balanced they were off the car, best bet would be to phone up to double check!
Q: I had just recently caused my driver side front tire go out of balance. I know it‘s out of balance because it‘s a bit of a bumpy ride and the steering wheel shakes when i go fifty and over. Would anyone know how much tire balancing costs at Firestone tires? I have a $20 coupon so it must cost at leat $25 dollars.
If a tire shop recently put that tire on, go have them do it for free. Tires come with a spin balance as part of the cost. If not, it should be about $15 per tire at any shop. Going out of balance is a matter of losing the lead spin weight attached where the tire meets the rim of the wheel. The fastest and surest way to tell if it is a balance problem on the front tire (assuming you have good tires) is to drive about 15mph and then drop the steering wheel briefly. If balance is a problem, you should see the steering wheel wobble. If the spin is not a quick fix, you may be looking at an alignment.
Q: I live in chicago and I wanted to know where I could find cheap used tires. Thanks!
Have this same issue in my 04 TJ, I found my issue being in the fuse box. the Fuse is not touching and I wiggle it and it find connection. Not sure but give that a try eD
Q: Might be a stupid question but im just trying to find out what my next set of tires will be and im looking at off road tires between 33 and 35,im currently running 33s.Im pretty sure I know what it is,but instead of making my self look like a jackass when im wrong I figured I would ask.
If you sleep buff, you should always have slippers and a robe handy just in case. Lay them by your bed so you won't scare the survivors to death.
Q: I have a GMC Savana and need snow tires. Any recommendations? Should I get them studded?
Studded tires are tires that grip onto ICE (not snow). If you experience an extreme winter with actual ice, than go for studded ice tires. Otherwise, simply go for snow tires. A heavy-duty snow tire carries the sign of an icy mountain with a snow flake drawn inside it. Get a NEW FOURSOME of such snow tires: Four matching (similar) tires. Get tires that are not too cheap and are made by a known manufacturer. Cheap unknown tire brands tend to be of a low quality and this is flat out dangerous! When it stops snowing in the spring/summer -- remove the snow tires. Do not keep using them in the dry, because they would perform poorly and again put you in risk. Replace them alltoghether after three years or once they get worn or have done enough miles (70,000km). Especially look at the tread depth: If, at any stage, it gets to 3mm -- replace the tires. And check the air pressure reguarly too!
Q: im only 17 years old and i feel tire every single day even on the weekend when i slept like about 14 hours when im tire it means tire not even coffee could do any hlp so is there a soultion to this???
If you are still feeling tired even after 8-9 hours of sleep you problem might not be the amount of sleep that you are getting but the quality. There are several causes of poor sleeping quality. 1) Sleep apnea - literally means not breathing while sleeping (a without, pnea breath). When you fall asleep you relax the soft tissue and muscle surrounding the airways. This reduction in space causes your lungs to have to work harder to maintain the correct oxygen levels. Similar to what happens if you suck too hard on a straw, the increased suction of the lungs eventually causes the airway to collapse and a moment where no air passes into the lung ensues. This causes one to wake up just enough to resume normal breathing. Typically, however, you don't wake up enough to consciously notice it. This stop and go sleeping can greatly effect how tired you are. 2) Hypopnea (pronounced hi-pop-nee-a) - meaning slowed breathing is similar, but not the same as apnea. Typically this is what causes most younger adults trouble with sleeping. It can be caused by smoking, obesity, alcohol, and snoring. Although, you do not actually stop breathing, there are abnormally slow or shallow breaths which eventually lowers the oxygen content in the lungs/tissues. A person, again, wakes up frequently throughout the night, effecting their sleeping. The best way to know if you have one of the two sleep problems listed above is to have a sleep study done. However, if you want some signs before spending your money, there are a couple of indicators of sleep apnea and hypopnea: 1) If you have a significant other or roommate, etc. ask him or her if you snore, suddenly stop breathing while sleeping, or similar. 2) Can you remember your dreams? People who have had corrective surgery and placed on ventilary machines for sleep apnea have described how the suddenly have longer and more vivid dreams. 3) Are you moody or easily angered? This can becaused be the lack of dreams.
Q: Okay. I just got a G35 and I need winter tires or All- Seasons. First of all, do you think just snow tires are better than all season? Second, what brands/tires do you recommend? Third, do you think studded or unstudied will be best for me. My car is RWD in case you didn't know.
