- whoever changed the timing chain didnt do it right and it skipped a tooth and destroyed your engine. (think bicycle chain coming off the bike, while standing on the pedals) i would have yr friend take it to a shop, not say anything about previous maitinence and see what the new shop says.

- ABEC ratings are meaningless unless you are worried about small amounts of vibration over 200 mph. Really, it is a standard about vibration in high speed industrial machines. Even an ABEC 1 bearing is much better than the precision grade bearings that were used in the early skates and boards so going to ABEC was a big step up. Then the marketing people realized that they could put bigger numbers on things and the race was on. In theory, a given manufacurer puts more care into making the higher number bearings than they do the lower number bearing, but that doesn't mean that their high number bearing might not be better than a low number bearing from a better maker. In reality, the best bearing companies make non-ABEC bearings as their best ones because the smaller gaps in the high number bearings can slow you down. They put close tolerances where they need them and open up space where it can be done. They also use better grades of metal or ceramics. Within typical bearings, you will see a bigger difference due to the lubricant (and how much is used) that the bearing has in it. Oil will be faster but requires new lube more often. Grease lasts longer but is slower (especially if too much is used). Gels are in between.

- What kind of vehicle is it? Is it coil over, torsion bar, twin I beam, how many miles: dont gremlin hunt, get some deinitive answers. I would have it inspected for upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, drag and center links, idler and pitman arms, and the integrity of the radial runout of the hub to bearing assembly! Remember, putting bigger tires on vehicles that were never intended for them, tend to cause some pretty unusual circumstances! Especially when a lot of the factory geometry is now different! - Q: ok..muy f22b1 vtec engine has 22222 stamp on crank and ccbcc stamped on block which comes out to y/g,y/g,y,y/g,y/g. (that's yellow and green.)with yellows in the block and greens as well..(I know it meant one half yellow one half green, but I wanted to see the difference in the bearings...)the yellow had a clearance of .0020, which is the service limit for journals 1,2,3 4...here are muy books' readings-oil clearances-# 1 4 standard .0005-.0015 service-.002# 2 standard .0008-.0018 service-.002# 3 standard .0010-.0019 service-.0022# 5 standard .0004-.0013 service-.0016 I also tested browns and acl bearings.these are the clearances I got with a dial bore gauge.....green bearings- .0019yellow bearings- .0020brown bearings- .0015acl bearings- .0025at this point im not sure which way to go, go with stamps or clearances...any suggestions would be great... thanks
- Honda uses this system to get extremely close tolerances on bearings/journals from the factory. After it has been run 100,000 miles (or 250,000); when it is time for overhaul, the crank gets turned to fit .010, or .020 under-size bearings. The clearance is determined by the machinist turning the crankshaft. Be careful, many machinists go for big clearance, like .003 because they are used to building race engines that last 3 races and get rebuilt again (short life). Better have a shop manual on hand and ask him to shoot for the smaller side of clearances.
- Q: I bought the trailer today. It's in fairly good shape but its been sitting in a field for about a year. I'm going to get new tires, but before I take the trailer any distance at all, I need to repack the ball bearings on the axle. - After you have packed the bearings not to much just enough to coat them, Now go and buy the ones that carry a grease fitting on them install them and next time you need to grease them all you will need is a grease gun , hope this helps
- Q: Have a heavy-duty commercial floor scrubber 3-4 years old, when accelerating and going faster, experience a timely bump. (If you've ever pushed a shopping cart with a gash in one wheel- it is just like that) Inspection of wheels reveals the are perfectly round and in good shape. Removed wheels and bearings appear fine. Could bearings still be bad even though they make no noise and have no wobble? This machine is very heavy. Parts are expensive, need to be sure before ordering
- Did you check........................ 01. tyre outer surface for Flat spots on the wheel balancing machine. 02. rim condition for any defect on the wheel balancing machine. 03.axial and radial play of the wheel on the wheel balancing machine. 04. ball joints and suspension arm rubber bushes. 05. any bending over an accident....... if above are ok fix the wheel to the vehicle and lift that side a little using a trolly jack. hold the wheel from the upper tightly and check for a bearing play by pushing and pulling........
