- Natural degreaser:- (Theory, Like dissolves Like) * Rub Orange Oil or Eucalyptus Oil onto bearings soak in hot water for approx. 1/2 hr. * Wash with Dawn dish washing liquid, * Rinse well with hot water. * Then re grease bearings. Good Luck!!
- Q: i have bones swiss and i was cleaning them but the balls fall and i dont know how to assemble it again, plz help!
- There should be a plastic or metal retaining cage within the bearings that you can pop the balls into. Check to see if you put the cage in the right way and that the balls are seated within the cage properly. The cage is pretty obvious and looks like a ring with several holes for the balls, so put them in there. It might take some work, and can get tricky to put the balls back in the retainer cage, but it can be done. Also, you can buy spare balls for the bearing of you lose some. And if all else fails and you cannot find a place that sells spare balls, you can always buy individual bearings. In the future, you don't really need to take the balls out of the cage. All you need to do is remove the shield, and blast out any dirt or debris with WD40 or degreaser, dry them, relube them and put the shields back on. Trust me, its easier on your bearings and you won't have to worry about losing the balls or breaking the cage.

- There should be a number stamped on the somewhere. Look under Wheel Bearings in your Yellow Pages and take them to a specialist. Or do it online. You may even be able to find an online wheel bearing shop if you google it and do a bit of research. I've found that most good-sized cities will have a bearing specialist or engineering shop who can help out.

- well there's no such thing as a pro skateboard...but what do you mean by what kind of bearings...brand or abec? if you're talking about abec then most pro street skaters use abec-5 bearings, while vert skaters like a bit more speed. so theyll use abec-7. abec-3,5, and 7 are the most common. the higher the number the faster and longer the bearing will make the wheel spin, but they need cleaned often and dont last as long. as for the brand, they will skate bearings from whichever company gives them sponsorship. most pros do not skate element bearings, they skate whoever they're sponsored by.

- You may need to be more specific with the question but i assume that you are talking about the bottom bracket bearings. In BMX there are various BB (bottom bracket) sizes there are, Euro BB, Spanish BB, American BB and Mid BB. The most commonly used BB is the Mid which most BMX frames use now days, the American BB is quite old and dated the other BB that you may see is the Spanish BB which is used by various companies one being Fly Bikes (being a spanish company). You may find that your Hoffman frame has a Mid BB and the Eastern frame you own has a Spanish BB the most common difference is the Mid is larger than the Spanish, unless you provide some more information i suggest that you go to your local bike shop and ask for their opinion or help. - Q: can i make my own ball bearings for hubs, bottom bracket, etc. from a ceramic mug or the like? if its possible, what tools do i need? can i get it done at a machine shop? i would only do this if its cheaper than buying them pre-made, which in case you didnt know, can cost several hundred dollars for a full set.
- Yes you can make your own ball bearings... but there's a reason they're mass produced. The machinery involved is expensive, but once set up they're incredibly easy to mass produce... So, to be frank - you're probably better off spending the couple of hundred for a set. Odds on, the cost of getting them made for you will be in the thousands rather than in the hundreds... Just my .01 -dh

- Reds ARE Bones, n00b. However, giving you the benefit of the doubt, I'll assume you meant, Are Reds better than Bones Swiss? The answer to that question is, No. Not even close. While Reds are probably the best CHEAP bearings you can buy, Bones Swiss (in pretty much any flavor or variety) are simply the BEST bearings you can buy for skateboarding. Period.

- If you ask me, all of them are overpriced and over rated. If I were you, I would try out some Japanese Destructo Sendai bearings. I have been skating with them for 2-3 years and even skated into a pool with them and they havent rusted. They run super fast and smooth, even after skating into the pool with them. I have tried just about every Bones bearing and none of them are really worth the price except reds. The sendais are a lot better than anything I have ever tried. All of the bones are ok, but the only real perk is that you dont have to clean them. Try reds or sendais.
