- Q:i just bought vapor XR3 inline hockey skates, and the bearings slow down the wheels more than i would like, so i was wondering which of these is smoother with less friction. keep in mind that the shop that i am going to has all ABEC rated labedas + swiss lite, and only up to ABEC 9 for bevo.
- I've never used faster or better than a Boss Swiss ABEC 5, just make sure whatever you choose fits your skate frame - micro bearings aren't compatible with all chassis. Higher abec ratings wear out quickly due to corrosion/rust when exposed to asphalt.

- It doesn't sound like wheel hubs. When the hubs are bad, it usually makes a grinding noise, rather than a clicking noise.

- A okorder . Keep in mind that if you go with the pro set, after your deck breaks you only need to spend 60 on a new one since you can save the trucks wheels and bearings.
- Q:How does it keep from flowing into the turbine itself?
- The bearings are located outside the casing on either end of the shaft. There is an oil pump that circulates oil through the bearing. A seal on the shaft keeps the oil from flowing into the turbine casing.
- Q:I was going to repack my wheel bearings on an older trailer for the first time. I didn't even need a wrench to take the nut with the codder key through it off. Is this normal? There is no way the nut could have loosened before because the codder key wasn't bent or anything. should I reassemble the bearing with the nut being slightly loose like it was? - I agree with eamber 246, to a point. i have never heard of anyone using a pair of pliers on a nut holding a hub onto an axle. I have owned quite a few boats and I am a transmission mechanic by trade. Most of the nuts holding hubs onto axles I have seen have all been over 28mm in diameter. Way too large for pliers. In my experience, and I have had a little in the trade and out, I have always used a shifter or adjustable spanner to hold the nut while tightening. As eamber said though, you have to be careful not too over tighten or leave too loose

- He changes a lot of wheels when he sets up a booth at events and can pull bearings much faster than explaining how. Use a bearing tool or other object that fits inside the bearing. Just put it in as far as the bearing and lean it to a side to put force on the bearing. Make a rolling motion around a circle with your hand and the bearing will walk out of the wheel. A cruder, brute force, method is to take a screwdriver handle from a 1/4 socket set and put it into the bearing hole (it will just fit). Then twist sideways until the bearing pops out. Most better quality skates have gone to the 8mm axles and the rolling motion is a good method to learn.
- Q:Long story short. I bought a truck and i'm replacing the brake rotors, calipers, pads because they are bad. Should I replace the wheel bearings while i'm at it since their already out? What is the average life of wheel bearings and how much should they cost (without labor, since i'm doing it myself).
- to the best of my knowledge, you don't really need to if they are original, in good condition. the thing is, can you check and verify the condition of the wheel bearings? just because you are taking everything else in that department out, shouldn't mean you have to replace the bearings as well. BUT, if you want, if the truck has high mileage, by all means go for it. after everything's done, you might want to do an alignment job.
