- Q:im trying to open like a bike shop kinda thing,and i was wondering if like any kind of grease or lube will work for bike bearings and the handlebars.? help?
- I like molybdenum based or synthetic greases for bearings. They are much lower in friction than other greases. You can buy it auto parts stores in large cans for little money. You will notice a difference when pedalling with lower grade greases. Do not put any grease on handlebars! There is too much chance at slipping under load and causing an accident. The only time you put anything in there is if you are assembling a carbon handlebar into a carbon stem or a carbon seatpost into a carbon frame. You need to use a specific carbon fiber assembly grease. This stuff has anti-slip solids in it but prevents the bonding of the carbon fiber epoxies over time.

- I used 50% Vaseline and 50% graphite. Worked great as I used my boat in salt water. I use to carry a spare set of bearings when towing my boat. A failed wheel bearing can stop you just as easily as a flat tire.

- i've got been applying Black Panther Swiss bearings in a pair boards for some years. they have been sturdy and supply good velocity, sufficient to do grinds in the 9ft end of the pool. The ABEC score has little to do with velocity. It purely pertains to tolerances in manufacture and use in extreme velocity equipment. It has not something to do with the suitability of a bearing for skateboarding. for this reason maximum extreme-end bearings at the instant are not ABEC rated, as they are designed especially for skateboards.

- K Towe, I believe in that model of vehicle, the bearings are pressed on. Therefore, the spindle would have to be removed and taken to someone that has the equipment to press the old bearing off and press the new bearing on. If the problem is just the hub. then that is much easier. You just take the tire off, and pull off the hub and replace. You may have to beat the hub off because of it's age and rust and stuff. But I believe you will have to do that anyhow in order to get to the spindle. Hope this helps, J
- Q:i just purchased a boat with a tandem axel trailor. the left rear tire on the way home after about an hour on the road heated up to the point grease was oozing out all over the rim and the hub was to hot to even touch. i tore the bearings out today and was wondering if it was indeed the bearings causing this to heat up or if there is something else i need to do and if it was the bearings what i need to do and how i need yo pack the bearings back in and get this to end the problems. the trailor has trailor brakes but i do not have the trailor hook up in my truck could this have caused this and if so how i could disable the trailor brakes to keep them from catching. thank you for all help
- If the heat was caused by the bearings, they should be slightly discolored. On my tandem axle car hauler, I installed grease caps with zerk fittings on them. Before each long trip, I get out the grease gun and give each about 15 pumps. Since yours gets exposed to water, I would pull all and repack, looking for signs of corrosion, pitting or rust, and discoloration. Replace as necessary with new seals. Get the greasable caps.
