The outer ring has thin wall.The drawn cup needle roller bearing has the characterstics of small radial section area, large load carring capacity ,less inertia and economic manufacture. - Q: what is the advantage and disadvantage of water-lubricated bearings?
- The main advantage of a water cooled bearing is you can use the a portion of the water from the pump discharge to lube the bearings. That way you can always be assured of the lubricating fluid supply and do not have to relay on another pump. Some pumps do use another source, especially if the water being pumped is dirty, but it is still cheap and non-contaminating if some leaks into the pumped fluid. However, water is not always a good lube especially on pumps with high speeds and/or mechanical loads. Water is not very viscous and becomes less so with increased temperature. Even small 3600 rpm pumps will use oil for lubrication. Some large, high pressure pumps will have their own oil pumping and cooling system for the bearings.

- Speed is relative so long as use have decent, serviceable bearings, and have adjusted them properly. The wheel size will make a bigger difference in the speed. Smaller sizes-more rotation-less speed. Sorry the bearing hype is just that, hype

- Q: My two front wheels on my skateboard randomly lock up. You know how you're suppose to leave a little wiggle room when you tighten the nut? - If you aren't using speed ring, use them. Replace axle nuts. Could be bearing migration from excess bearing lube. Remove bearings and wipe outer race with denatured alcohol. Wash the wheels with dish soap and water. Make sure to wash the bearing seats. Dry before placing the bearings back in. If it happens only on one side but not the other, it's axle slip. Send trucks back to manufacturer.

- Lucky bearings, black panthers, reflex or whatever just get abec 5s or abec 7s and dont pay more than $30 for them because they are all pretty much the same. and for cleaning them, just take them out of the wheel and wipe them really good with windex or whatever you have.

- Not sure which ones you are talking about here. If you are talking about the front bearings. Do you mean for one or both sides. Also remember this on alot of vechicals. Some are what are called pressed on and others are not pressed on. The ones that are not pressed on are alot cheaper to replace and if you and a friend are a back yard mechanics. Both of you should be able to do the job.
- Q: Car has been in the shop since last week. They've ordered the bearing according to catalog, and its wrong - so they say the spindle has been changed apparently..however my brother in law says the bearings come with numbers imprinted on them which should make it easy to replace. The garage lady says Hyundai bearings don't come with numbers...anyway, they are down to the last bearing Hyundai makes and we are waiting for that part to come and hoping it is correct....I am wondering if this is just totally nuts or does this sound correct? Shouldn't they have just taken the bearing itself to an auto parts place and matched it up? Why is this so hard? Car was originally put in the shop for a new alternator, by the way.
- Get the bearing and look for yourself. Go to auto parts store and ask them for a front wheel bearing for your vehicle. Look it up online at Auto Zone. com.There are a number of ways to find out. Get out of there and find a shop that knows what they are doing. Why are they working on the wheels to repair an alternator. Sounds like you are getting ripped.
