Q:I stained my carpet, and I was always told to use clorox to get rid of it. I did, but now my room smells a little like clorox. Not bad. In fact, I think the smell is going away. How long will it last until the fumes are completely gone?
Huff Up The Fumes
Q:i recently had a basement flood which covered the floor in 4 inches of water. After using two pond vacuum's, and a carpet shampoo and water extractor, the carpet and the pad are still wet. I would love to get the same carpet as i had. They do not have it on the Abbey carpet site anymore...HERE IS THE CARPET THAT WE HAD.
If its not on the Abbey site there are only 2 reasons for this.. The carpet is no longer made and discontinued or who ever you bought the carpet from has private labeled the carpet so no one shopping for an Abbey carpet ( or any thing else in their store) won t be able to cross shop and price compare. Big box stores are know to do this and some mom and pop stores. I never did. Now a suggestion.. Pull up the carpet and the pad. The pad is probably ruined. The carpet is more often than now salvageable if you can get it to dry. Or get a professional carpet cleaner in to vac out the carpet. they may be able to pull out enough water and along w/ fans and a dehumidifier, you may be able to save it. Most home owners policy's cover flood damage, its worth a call. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:Can i put a stable rug under a turnout rug?
It's best to have a nylon material against your horse. Most blankets are lined in nylon sheeting and they advertize it as polishing the coat. Cotton or wool may be a bit more comfy, but it pulls and catches the fur making the big movements in turnout likely to rip it. That's why they are used inside the stable.
Q:We bought a new white linoleum floor to which we added a couple of bathroom rugs. When I went to pick up the rugs to throw them in the wash, I noticed the floor had yellowed underneath the rug. The stains were same shape of the rugs that covered it. The floor was meant to look like white marble now it looks like yucky yellow snow. How I can get these stains off? Will putting the rugs back down cause it to yellow once again? Shouldn't there be a warning lable on these rugs!
Yep, the backing on the rugs gives off gasses as they oxidize. They are most likely gasses from plastic (hydrocarbon) or PVC (chlorides). It is possible that the discoloration to your floor is permanent. You can try putting some lemon juice on a small area and leave it there to dry. If you see a return to the original color, treat the rest. The other thing is a household ammonia test. Same thing (but open the windows and keep your head away from the product). Since you will now be testing acids and alkalies to see if you can reverse the problem, the only other thing to test is a solvent like white spirits. Do this one last. The rugs will continue to degrade but less than when new. You are right that there should be a warning on these rugs to not place them on certain surfaces but you know manufacturers, put it out to sell and then deny any liability.
Q:I have just gotten a large area rug and Ihave put it on a bare floor. Do I need to put something under the rug. It is not slipping or anythhing.
nope-its good
Q:a lot of people have walked on my carpet and i was wondering if anybody knew how to make it look new?PLEASE HELPPPPP!:]
There is the carpet restoration option. You can have the carpet done onsite. It has to be done by an expert services for commercial residential. You can dye your carpet to many different color and shades. appearance with a brand new carpet color. You can match the existing color for fresh new look or you can provide borders or designer patterns. The fact is that carpets don't wear out, the color fade and stain! For those unsightly stubborn stains, faded areas and annoying bleach spots, on solid colors or on multi-color and patterned carpet, you can remove the ugly blemish and re-dye the area to match it to the original carpet color and design perfectly with the rest of the carpet. The average carpet in the Indianapolis area runs $200.00 - $300.00.
Q:What's the reason for leaking the carpet?
General car sunroof has 4 drainage holes and 4 drainage pipes, respectively, in the days of the window below the sink at the four corners, the former drainage around the anterior roof interior along about A in laying down the interior column, discharged water from around the skylight duckbilled rubber front door hinge near the nozzle after about; drain from the interior ceiling after about C in the back under the chassis interior column laying drainage. The four drainage lines are easily blocked by sediment or small leaves and other debris, and must be inspected and cleared at all times. In this, the friendship reminds the owner of the skylight in the heavy rain days, muddy road or leaves flying place, after driving, to check the drain.
Q:My 2yr old spilled ALOT of syrup on our large area rug...I tried HOT water, blotting the area, scrubbing the area and carpet cleaning solutions....any suggestions? Rug still extremely sticky when we step on the areas where the syrup is soaked in.
I had this happen to our large area rug and I used our wet/dry Vacuum. If you don't have one you can borrow one from a friend or next door neighbor. Very handy to own. I made a very soapy hot water mix and kept wetting the syrup areas and then vacuuming the soapy water up and repeating. The hot water and soap worked well but on several really bad spots I used dishwasher liquid which broke down the syrup and made the cleanup much easier. I think I vacuumed the rug three times and now the rug looks new and the syrup is completely removed. The shop Vac wet and dry vacuum works great at removing spilled plates of food and especially syrup. Our children had a small party and we had a real mess until I thought about cleaning the rug with mu Shop Vac. Work great. Try this I think you will soon have a new looking area rug, with any syrup. They are having a sale on them at Home Depot for $49.00
Q:i want to make a rug/mat for door way floor using 3 Colors but wouldn't have a clue how. what im asking u is what craft is used for example knitting or cross stitching thanks in advance
well i would kind of cut fabric length wise and braid the 3 different colors like a pigtail. and connect them together side by side to make it long or square or you can be creative and braid 3 of the same color separate and connect them side by side or even in an oval. i could be wrong but hopefully it will give you an idea of what you want to do. it depends on what material you wish to use also. good luck!
Q:I am getting carpet installed tomorrow (Monday). I had bent it to get it upstairs. I kept it bent for about 1 week. There is some wrinkles now near the middle. Will this stretch out when he installs the carpet in the room???
no doubt about it they will come out. I bend carpet all the time around corners. It will take a little time for the carpet to relax but it will. You could help it by unrolling it so it will flatten overnight. Also if it's still wrinkled tomorrow you could use a steamer. Just steam the wrinkles for a second. When the installer stretches your carpet and kicks it in the wrinkles should come out anyway.
