Q:I have never washed a winter rug and my horses really needs doing but I'm not quite sure how !?Dry cleaners ?In the bath tub? (by hand) The washing machine looks to small... and I do not want to wreck it !!!Thankkss xx
Im lucky our dry cleaner has very large front load washing machines that take them quite well. Although you can never get them perfect I wash them in the hottest water available. I do not care about color washing out. I want them clean. I also use either a blanket cleaner or I just buy the soap for infants that way it does not irritate their skin next winter. But before I take them I usually leave them over a fence during the spring rain to help wash as much of both sides. I usually rotate between big storms to clean both sides. I also don't want my care to smell to bad. I love horses but my job requires taking people around in my car. Just my 2 cents.
Q:Hi, I need help with identifying an old rug. A friend of mine, an Englishman who now resides in Florida, possesses this rug. It is white with white tassels, and a black border around the rug itself. The design is quite intriguing as red, black and white are the only colors used. Repeated motifs are a black circle made into quarters, colored in with red, two rows of three black triangles with red dots on them, three sideways flames with lines around them, and what looks like three chickens or three birds, repeated throughout the rug.. My friend was born in Karachi Pakistan in 1965 and this rug was given to his parents by Pakistani friends at the time of his birth...if anyone knowledgeable can help me I.D. this rug, he and I would thank you. We think it may be a Muslim prayer rug...peace. The birds do not show eyes (an Islamic prohibition!)thanksxxxany knowledgeable, serious help would be appreciated.
I've had limited dealings with antique rugs; I used to assist an antiques dealer who dealt with a good number of rugs, including prayer rugs. I do not think from what you are relating that the rug is a Muslim prayer rug. Prayer rugs incorporate the design of a mihrab; that is, the niche in the wall of mosques used to indicate the direction of Mecca, an important consideration in Islamic prayer. If there is no indication of a direction on the rug, it is most likely not a prayer rug. Also, a well-used prayer rug would show signs of wear and tear, particularly wear in the spots where a worshipper knelt for their prayers. If you can see no obvious wear in areas to indicate use, it cannot be an antique. It sounds like a simple household rug of local Pakistani manufacture, not much older than 40 years. The bird design you describe is common, and I have seen it myself in many rugs.
Q:How to totally remove dog hair on the carpet?
Don't use broom with plastic chemical fiber; try to use cotton covers and decoration at home. Finally; use brown brush dipped in water brush sofa and carpet, then the dog hair will roll together, then it is to remove. In addition, dog hair is not easy to fly, mop, best humidifier help, not easily with static electricity: Use the cloth that won't be squeezed water to wipe the furniture and sofa. Tell you the secret, use a rag, when remove the dog hair, there is better the moist environment, thus the dog hair is relatively be concentrated, and try to be diligent to comb hair for dog
Q:I know it doesnt matter as long as I like it but I want your opinion :)Its kind of plain but Im just wondering…
Yeah I like it. I think it would look good underneath a coffee table, or at the foot of a sofa, or just wherever as an area rug. I think it would look great. But I guess it all depends though because I don't know what your living room looks like. SO, I guess I really can't say. But yeah, I do like it.
Q:I'm looking for a soft shag rug that is orange and maybe 5' by 8'. any suggestions?
I okorder / Also try looking on your local buy and sell websites such as Craigslist of Kijiji. Also try phoning any vintage home decor stores in your area. Even if they don't have what you are looking for they may know where you can find one. Good Luck!
Q:Hey guysSo i threw up on a living room rug, the kind that goes under a coffee table, and it's been sitting there in my backyard for a while. I know i can't get the stain out myself, so i was wondering, how much would it cost to get the rug professionally cleaned? I need to clean it. I don't need to know exact prices, just like, an average carpet cleaning price. Thanks alot guys
The cheapest way to clean a rug is clean it yourself using rug cleaner or you can rent a rug cleaner from one of the grocery stores for a couple of hours. If you hire a professional it will cost too much.
Q:I have to clean a carpet that has a red cool aid stain on it? Since it is not my carpet, I have no idea how long the stain has set into the carpet. I am willing to try just about anything short of a beach based cleaner? The carpet is an off white, so it's extremely noticable. Any suggestions, or is this a hopeless case?
I'm no expert on getting rid of stains, but I can offer some help in preventing them. Whenever a liquid is spilled on carpet, instead of pushing it into the carpet by sopping it up, cover the spill with a generous amount of table salt. The salt draws the moisture out and then when it dries it can be vacuumed up. If blood gets on rugs or carpet or most any material (probably not dry clean only) lay ice cubes on the spots. As the ice melts the blood will literally disappear. You may need to keep adding ice as it melts but I have used this several times and it does work. Good Luck!
Q:For the record, I didn't want this rug...I told my husband anything that says quot;do not add waterquot; was a bad idea with young kids in the house....but here we are....So I know you're not supposed to use water on sisal (natural fiber/grass) rugs, but merely quot;blottingquot; as per the directions does not leave me with a clean, sanatized feeling. I generally use water and hydrogen peroxide to clean my carpets (I avoid chemical cleaners whenever I can), but how can I at least freshen up the area until enough time has passed that I'm not screaming quot;don't sit/crawl there!quot; Is baking soda an option?
My only suggestion - make your husband responsible for this problem immediately, and walk away. You did not want the rug for just this reason, and any move for you to take responsibility means you buy into the idea that this was an appropriate purchase. Stick to your guns, call him or text him and let him know his fabulous rug has experienced just the thing you knew would happen, and just drop it in his lap. The minute he brought it into the house, he took responsibility for whatever happened next- so don't do it for him. At all. This isn't just about the rug, of course- it's about power and who makes the decisions. If he wants to make them, it's up to him to do whatever it takes to follow through. Not your job, and it wasn't a joint decision made with your input. Call him, let him know he has a problem, and walk away. Not one paper towel- I'm not kidding. Or you will own the #$% rug and the blame for the spot your cleaning efforts make.
Q:Yo!My apartment floors are horrable tiles in the living and bed rooms and I hate it! It's cold and cracked up and ugly. Anyways, we started looking at area rugs but for the sizes we would need to cover most of the rooms we are only finding ones that cost like $1,000 - and we can't afford that - and thats at places like kohls and target, places I thought would be cheap. Are there any websites where I can buy large area rugs for cheap? Or could I even buy the kind of rugs they usually install but not install it? Where would I get that? At this point anything is going to look better then these stupid tiles!
I buy all of our large area rugs on OKorder. I bought one that is like 11 or 12 feet by 7 or 8 feet(sorry can't find my measuring tape) for $80.00 with shipping. It is a knock off Persian rug design. We have had it for over a year and it still looks great. Just nose around a little and be sure to check the sellers feedback to be sure you are dealing with a reputable seller and be sure to check out the shipping charges before deciding. Good luck!!
Q:how do you get red stains off the carpet?
Depending on how big your house is, it can take about half a day to steam clean wall to wall carpeting. Most companies will be able to work around furniture, but obviously it's better if you can move as much furniture as possible so that the cleaners can clean as much carpet as possible. You'll want to open up your windows after the carpet cleaning has been done to air out your rooms (and with this heat, to quicken up the drying time). If you are talking about cleaning hand made rugs, then cleaning is done off site and you generally have to wait 2-3 weeks for the professional cleaners to return your carpet.
